The 'red dresses' pic brought me down a Duggar rabbit hole and I stumbled upon this: http://web.archive.org/web/20030207100851/http://www.jimbob.info/photos.html If it pasted correctly it is JB's old campaign page.

Jessa is gonna be pissed. That is her known skill and jurisdiction.

Normal swimming clothes. ;)

Did anyone watch Jeopardy tonight? I was in another room, but I believe I heard re-baptism and Mennonites. Or maybe I just have Duggar-forum on the brain.

Jill & Derick sold and gave away most of their belongings?

As far as J & D and their fundraising my concern is less with their integrity and more with their naivete. Whether this sort of fundraising is steeped in tradition or not, the times they are a changing. Transparency is needed to provide a donor with enough information to see if the mission fits with their beliefs, as well as how the monies are being used. Just because Derick has 1 year of accounting under his belt and Jill, well and uhm Jill is... uhm kindhearted, does not mean they are well versed in the best ways to use donations. Like SP1066 mentioned, are the donations supporting the Dillard's stay or is being used in, and for, the community? Whose to say that J & D wouldn't innocently believe that a Bugaboo stroller is a needed online purchase.
-
And this is what disturbs me. Most people that have any money-sense at all would not donate without more information. It hurts my sensibilities to think of who is actually donating.

So I thought hmm, how far is the media going to dig up dirt on the Duggars? So I Googled Duggars YouTube and was provided this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkBO42gKskiIOGNqTCpgmHg/featured On the top right hand side of the Duggar Studios YouTube page it states this: Support this channel Help Duggar Studios make more fresh quality content. Every contribution is helpful, big or small. Support

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
GeeGolly replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Went back to look at the pic. Josh does look medicated. I wonder if he was prescribed a benzodiazepine for anxiety. That baby is beautiful!!!! -
I'm the handyman in my house and learned from a young age too. But GEML is right that having that kind of responsibility, that young, can backfire. When my then 12ish year old daughter and I were wallpapering, I had to make a quick jaunt up the street to pick up her brother. I would be gone less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately we timed the next strip poorly and she would need to hang it while I was gone. Well the poor thing, you would have thought that I asked her to hang a Tiffany chandelier. Disaster averted when I explained it was no biggie and we would just rip it down and put a new strip up if need be.(she did a great job & was very proud) I wonder how often JB & M reassured their children that they would check their work and the TT house wouldn't fall down.
-
Yes, but not before each child 8 and over was gifted a power screwdriver from their parents.
-
JB has probably been checked for hernias so he is practically a proctologist himself. ;)

It is unfortunate mizkat, that the Duggar parents not only condone asking for money, but have also modeled this behavior. Personally I am not a Duggar hater, and generally feel bad for the kids. But somehow my kids received the implicit message that one does not ask strangers to support them or their hobbies, so I would think on some level the middle boys know it is not the norm.

I see soliciting money as poor PR. The Duggars know that a lot of media are keeping an eye on what they're doing. I suspect that they hope the media picks up these financial requests and they will reach a wider audience. The only ones not asking for financial support is Josh's family & Benessa. I believe many folks are very turned off by requests for money.

26 bath towels & 26 hand towels? Maybe it is me, but that seems like an awful of towels. Do they not do laundry?

Happy Birthday BitterApple!

I apologize if this has been posted. Apparently the Duggar kids are soliciting money on their You Tube site. "In fact, the Duggars have posted a video on their YouTube account, Duggar Studios, in which they ask for fans to donate money in order for their children to be able to post more videos online. “Every contribution is helpful, big or small,” they state in the video." What an odd site to be writing about the Duggars. Their tagline is: "News, Commentary on Classical Music, Jazz, Theater, Dance & More". Are they desperate for readers? Never mind their site is so ad crazy it took forever for the page to fully load.

Gee, golly, gosh. Congrats and sympathies jb0495. My babies are full grown adults, and many things have changed since then - except the worry & lack of sleep.

And why does Amy think a handwritten note from her is so special? I think most people alive today would be okay with never receiving a handwritten note from her.

CM that sucks. Could almost wipe out the vacation-ness. I have daymares GEML, of the world coming to a stand still due to internet outages. And HappyFC, your posts often make me happy.
