  1. If only Ben & Jessa really knew how naive they are. The average 19 - 25 year olds are still figuring themselves and the world around them out. The Seewald couple have had a lot less exposure to the real world. I wonder if they will look back in 20 years and think "Oh my goodness, what were we thinking?!"
  2. Wikipedia says "Covenant marriage is a legally distinct kind of marriage in three states (Arizona, Arkansas, and Louisiana) of the United States, in which the marrying spouses agree to obtain pre-marital counseling and accept more limited grounds for later seeking divorce." "... In addition to seeking marital counseling, a spouse desiring a divorce must also prove that one of the following is true: The other spouse has committed adultery. The other spouse has committed a felony. The other spouse engages in substance abuse. The other spouse has physically or sexually abused the spouse or a child. The spouses have been living separately for a minimum amount of time specified by law (one or two years, depending on the law of the state)." So it looks as though, according to Wikipedia, Florida doesn't recognize covenant marriage, but the 3 states that do, see abuse of a child as reason to divorce.
  3. CC, I'm sure you are a Rock Star!!! It must be tough for Vets w/PTSD after the 4th if they are triggered by the noise, as well as the meaning of the holiday. And HFC, Alzheimers is a tough one, so sorry for you and your friend.
  4. We New Englanders complain about weather all the time. End of January into February - Too much snow. April - Too much rain. Late July into August - Too hot & humid. November - Oh no Winter is coming. We wear shorts & Ts when 60 degrees in the Spring, but wear jackets when it is 60 degrees in the Fall. I'm fairly certain complaining about weather is genetic in this area, or at least a birth right. ;)
  5. I just assumed they would leave from Fayetteville.
  6. Wow, nice detective work. So it went from Fayetteville to Charlotte. If they stayed with that plane, maybe Brazil?
  7. Humidity makes me cranky.
  8. I do believe that whatever child rearing method Jill uses, there will be a softness to it. I recall an episode were the younger kids were preparing signs for Ben. Josie jumped down from her chair (or maybe the table top) ;) and said she was going with the older girls. Jill calmly said something to the effect of "No, but thank-you for being sweet, you are going to help here." Josie turned around and sat down. However there is no way to know if Josie knew that the rod would come out if she didn't obey.
  9. Wally & Beaver had to wait for Ward to get home. Then he would give them a stern talking too.
  10. Well, I guess I have rose colored glasses GEML. You can borrow mine ;)
  11. Churchhoney, I would love to hear more about your journey. Your wisdom, empathy, as well as your sometimes disgust is evident in your posts. There are so many things about the Duggars that bug me, but also things that leave me curious. I don't share the overall hate many of the posters have for this family, just some disgust for some things they have done.
  12. I clearly stated the difference between my examples. And nope, no rose colored glasses. I am a Clinician and work with folks of all walks of life. People change all the time and I see it through my reality colored glasses all the time. Josh would most likely be investigated now, tips don't have to be called in, the publicity alone would warrant a visit with the family (although I would think a number of Duggar haters would have called DCF anyway). And there is also no guarantee that Josh would have had to register as a sex offender. These are my speculations based of years of experience of working with, like I stated above, folks of all walks of life.
  13. In addition to how she was raised, I would think any internal dialogue Anna is having about Josh and the molestations, has a lot to do with knowing this family for the past 6 or so years, and how the older girls have acted around Josh during that time. And she did have SOME knowledge of what had occurred many years ago. This is factually new to us, but not so much to her.
  14. I wondered that myself with the Tire/Knees pic. Michelle had her knees blurred during filming of her water skiing.
  15. As much as we would like to believe the Duggar kids don't like their parents, I'm sure they do love them & and even like them. The kids have only had glimpses into other parents & families who share similar styles. Other parents, like Aunt Deanna, are portrayed as sinners, or people that have strayed. Quick statements said about Jana, make me think she also blanket trained the younger ones and believes in immediate obedience. I recall Joy telling a group of littles she was going to get Jana if they didn't obey. I think unless the parents are physically abusive it takes some distance & independence for adult children to see their parents as they really are. And Jana really hasn't had that opportunity yet.
  16. I just googled pregnant bump. Jessa is not alone with the repeated pics nor the arched back. It appears she wasted no time getting up to speed on all things internet. She probably believes she is being modest because many of the pics I saw had bare bumps.
  17. Another example of the Duggar parents breaking their children. I remember watching an old episode where Michelle was talking about the kids, and she stated something to the effect of, "Jana is our chatty one, well she used to be, and now she saves that for Mom & Dad".
  18. My computer keeps jumping a video ad near the top of the feed. It has happened twice while typing this post (3x now). And also happens while reading posts. (4x). Very annoying!!!!!
  19. Couldn't have said it better. :)
  20. Maybe Jill has a knack for acquiring language. I took 2 years of Spanish in high school, but honestly learned more from watching Sesame Street w/ my kids.
  21. We are all a sum of many parts, both good & bad. Josh effed up in a very egregious way. There is no evidence however that this behavior continued. And I think it is unfair, even to Josh, to label him. Also, I'm sure DCF has been in close contact with Josh's family. There is no way they are going to allow his children to be around him if there is any risk. And there should be no way we would know if they are investigating, if DCF is doing their job properly.
  22. It is one I take seriously too. No parent of a child with Autism wants their child referred to as Autistic. (that is just another example, I KNOW Josh did something and a child w/Autism DID NOT) Please see post below before the attack.
  23. No matter what her circumstances are, Survivor #5 is very brave to even consider filing a law suit. It is hard for survivors under the best of circumstances, and without the eyes of many watching. I hope if she does file, they settle of out court for her sake.
  24. I am not really on board with digging up people's pasts just because they are on TV.
