As I was making coffee this morning and looking out the window I was thinking how after nearly 30 years in the same home I barely know some of my neighbors. It is such a different time then when I was growing up when we knew our neighbors well and we knew many of them. I was a forum virgin before I hopped in here, and I just want to say I thoroughly enjoy our conversations. So in this busy crazy world we live in, and at the risk of sounding like the wonderful Mr. Rogers, thanks for being my virtual neighbors. And what a welcoming neighborhood this is.

I believe many independent adults allow themselves to be influenced by others at various times. I also wonder if Deanna and Grandma D are aware of Amy's not-so-subtle request for money and gifts. I know for sure if that I was doing that, at any age, my mom would let me know how inappropriate it is, and would strongly encourage me to knock it off. And out of respect to my mom's wisdom, and my mom herself, I most likely would have listened.

After building the TTH all the Duggars have cursory construction skills. When they visit J & D, they could whip up a play area in no time. Or rows of benches for a school area. And of course Jill could give up her chalkboards.

I'm still laughing!!!

Very curious about what the annoying behavior is...

I thought I was being so sly. ;) I bet both TLC and at least a Duggar, like maybe Josh, stalk this forum.

Some parties to the legal stuff going on say the documents legally should not have been released. Others say is was following the law to release them. Does anyone know who is correct? Could the way the law is read be so ambiguous?

Could someone please post a link to tasteful and expensive jewelry please. I'm w/ SP1066 on this one!! Lets confuse the interwebs together.

What I would love to know is how the family interpreted the many gifts. Did they think they were from adoring fans? Did they laugh and think "what fools"? Did they think they converted that many folks? It amazes me that they did not donate any of the gifts or ask their fans to donate to a charity in lieu of a gift for them. Many moons ago Cindy Crawford was on one of the morning shows and she shared how she returned a duplicate baby gift and bought herself an expensive belt.

If Jessa ever had thoughts of breaking away from the family, working for TLC would certainly give her a leg up financially. I don't see that happening though. The older kids seem comfortably planted within the family and their beliefs. Well at least from what was shown to us.

19 Things I Hate About You: How the Duggars Infuriate
GeeGolly replied to Ljohnson1987's topic in Counting On
Both modeling of behaviors and messages, influence how children behave and the kind of adults they will become. Unfortunately, even when exposed to the world at large, the Duggar kids are at a deficit. They have poor modeling in the home, their primary messages are they are superior and they should fear others that are not like them, and they travel in packs, so they have little opportunity to observe others. When compared to the Bates children the Duggar littles appear almost feral. Some humbling would benefit the entire clan. I agree that Josh & Anna could have been successful making their way if they broke free from the family. But at this point they have a lot more to overcome then their sheltered upbringings. -

What would Josh do if he left? I would love to see how his resume reads. At this point, I don't think he is high on employers list of acceptable hires. I also am not sure he truly knows how the real world works. He is a father to 4 children who just lost a job, yet he is posting on twitter, going to sporting events, and hanging at the TTH. Most families I know would be a couple of months away from losing their home if they didn't find new employment soon. Maybe he is frantically sending out resumes, who knows, but it appears he is fairing better than most under the circumstances. Which makes me believe he is still somewhat naive. -
I feel another book coming. Although I can't imagine what they could possibly fill the pages with.

I am of two minds with this one. First, we always removed our children when they acted up, and we generally received many compliments of how well behaved our babies were. So the parents were wholly in the wrong. But secondly, I believe the owner should have addressed the parents not the baby, maybe offered some subtle support to the parents, and if they didn't get it, gently point out that the baby is disturbing other diners. What I don't understand is how this was let to go on so long by anyone there. With all that said I would not boycott the restaurant due to the owner's behavior, nor would I applaud her. I believe kids are people and deserve respect. I also believe that if parents are bringing kids places where their behaviors might disturb others, then they best be prepared to take care of them. This is very true. I am friends with a number of folks who have difficulty getting family members into the US without the financial means to either support them, or for them to support themselves.

The whole time I was reading the posts I kept thinking, "How ugly could it be?" I'm thinking a simple band with all their birthstones. Then I watched a couple of seconds of the video. Oh my goodness! Why, just why?

My son was unfriended by his Grandmother when he was about 23 years old. He is liberal she is not. Then she had my FIL call my husband and 'tell on him' for disagreeing with one of her posts. We all just laughed & laughed.

If you look at Amy's neck in both picks it appears she is wearing something different under the same sweater. -
TLC said they are not continuing with 19 Kids and Counting. TLC still be planning to work with the married couples and/or have some specials planned in the future. So in addition to feeding his ego and wallet, JB might be trying keep his family present so interest doesn't wane.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
GeeGolly replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
My hubby returned to work the day after my deliveries. My extended family also had full time jobs, so it was just me and my babies, it was just the way it was. Maybe Josh had tickets and brought the 3 older kids to give Anna a break (or maybe the game wasn't recent). but I'm not sure if I was him I would want to display any questionable actions to the public to be speculated about.
