None that I have seen. I'm interested to know if they went and/or were invited though.

I think they are all there. The were some pics of Jinger driving the big rig & of the boys clothes being packed for the trip.

And unfortunately to many, the Duggars do represent Christianity. A group of people that probably has little exposure to the help that is available outside of their own little community. If the TV special can help to normalize receiving secular help, then I think that is a good thing. RAINN is a reputable organization and will not want the show to include any ambiguous or harmful advice or information.

Humor is the best in tough situations for sure. After my mom was diagnosed and before the disease had progressed a lot, we were packing up their home for their move. Mom and I were moving a couch and we came across a pile of marbles (the stuff you find w/20 grand and great-grand kids) on the floor. I exclaimed "Look Mom, a cure!" We laughed until we almost peed.

When this all happened only 2 adults lived in the home - JB & Michelle. It is just as unfair to the girls to maximize the situation and it's impact as it would be to minimize it.

My mom passed away from Alzheimer's. Her early signs were having 'senior moments' as in forgetting where she was driving to, as well as having moments of being unfamiliar with a very familiar environment. One of the first assessments was having a nurse visit her in her home. The nurse asked her various questions regarding both long term and short term memory, including when and where she was born, how many siblings she has, years married, number of children, phone number, etc. Also mini 'tests' like "I'm going to name four items and I will ask you to repeat them back to me". The nurse asked the answers to the memory tests throughout the assessment. My dad and I were with her during the test. She got some wrong, some right, and actually got a few right at one time and wrong at another. The nurse was there for about 45 minutes. There aren't any definitive tests to differentiate between aging memory, dementia and Alzheimer's. It is when memories issues progress that they will offer a diagnosis. My mom was fine for the most part for many years after her initial assessment. The first restrictions we had to impose were not letting her drive, and eventually not letting her cook, and for the few years before she died, not leaving her alone. We were lucky in that she never forgot who any of us were. Good luck Jyn & Mr Jyn

The TLC article provides a link with some sad statistics. http://www.d2l.org/site/c.4dICIJOkGcISE/b.9292355/k.BC8E/nbspnbspStatistics.htm

During the show, when they did the talking heads, Jill pretty much ran over Derick. I agree the Duggar girls were brought up to stay at home and produce children and not aspire to reach higher, but I don't believe any of them (except Jana maybe) will be total door mats to their husbands. Jill is a fairly confident woman, I see her as sweet but not meek.

I, too, have a potty mouth. To me swears are exclamation points in the beginning and/or middle of a sentence. I very rarely use swears as darts toward someone though. Words can be really hurtful. With that said, I have on more than one occasion, had a very colorful verbal argument.

Happy belated Westiepeach! And just so y'all can plan, my birthday is in January. Should I register at Tiffany's? (that way I won't mess up our ads)

With embarrassment I must confess... we spent our summers at our cottage on a lake. We were barefoot pretty much from June - August. There were four of us kids and my mom kept a bunch a flip-flops and clean shirts in the back of the station wagon because inevitably when she would round us up to go into town at least two of us were still barefoot. Granted we were kids, but we did all kinds of stuff where shoes were warranted in our bare feet.

My condolences, as well as birthday wishes for you HappyFC!!

I don't blame JB for Michelle's emotional state. I believe Michelle was just as much, if not more into Gothard. She is following his tenets because she believes in them. I think it is the extreme religious beliefs that messes with her head and also messed with Andrea Yates. What I find remarkable is why these women don't question why, when following these tenets, that more sacrifices are made by the women than the men. If it is all about respecting Jesus' sacrifices why do men have it easier?

ChocoAddict, squeeze your nose shut and blow to pop your ears open. Or try Benedryl, and maybe even chewing gum. You might be experiencing pressure, or fluid in your ears.

First congrats on your graduation!!!!! Second don't see not being hired as personal, plenty of folks don't get hired every day. Thirdly look at each interview individually. Research the company or law firm and then 'research yourself'. Link together your strengths and their needs, direction and mission. Don't assume there is only one correct answer to abstract questions, you may surprise yourself and the interviewer with coming up with the best answer yet! Role play, yehp really, role play with a friend and be open to feedback from them. If you get stuck, use humor, it shows you won't crash under pressure. Don't give up. Your job is out there!

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
GeeGolly replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
I noticed that too. I think that Josh was born with some common sense, which is something I believe JB lacks. Way back when they were building the TTH, a young Josh mentioned that at different steps in the construction he would suggest to JB that "maybe we should get professional help now". JB of course would refuse. There have been more than a few eye roll-ish moments for Josh where JB is concerned, and often I would find myself feeling similarly. -
Yah, and they can't even use a little alcohol to quell the nerves.

So true. 500 engagement photos, wedding photos, 500 formal 'we are pregnant' photos. 500 bump photos, etc. Well at least on my FB feed.
