Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
GeeGolly replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Josh will stay. And I seriously believe he will start an RU type place in Arkansas It will be the 'Betty Ford' among the Fundies with celebrity Josh at the helm. (Betty Ford was amazing in how she brought both breast cancer & drug addiction out into the open. Just using her namesake rehab as an example) -
How about: Si, you have kept us laughing from before you could even talk, and when you starting talking you never stopped. It was amazing to see how you kept up with your older brothers, yet became your own man. You started a trend in the family with bow-ties that has continued with your little brothers who look up to you. I hope as you explore your creativity with film making & graphic arts, you find a career that you love. Love, Mom

I don't know. Both Jana & JD are curious to me. They're both quiet, neither have had courtships, and they would have been toddlers when M & JB began Blanket Training, and they likely Blanket Trained others. I get weird vibes from both of them. Lets face it if Jana was homely & JD handsome we would have different theories for both of them. What characters would they be in a psychological thriller?

Parenting can be a crapshoot for sure. And I agree the Duggar parents are probably heartsick. Yet I believe they are probably equally as distressed over this ruining their brand as well, and that bugs me. I hope your child is doing better now. And one thing I tell the folks I work with is: Parents can't take every credit for all their children's accomplishments, nor should they always take the blame for their mistakes.

Could Alice and the family source be the original laundry lady who rescued Michelle after her breakdown? -
Today would have been my Dad's 85th birthday, and in 10 days it will be the 2nd anniversary of his death. It's weird, this year his birthday feels harder than a year ago.

The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah

It really appears that when a Duggar 19 can 'read' and do basic math, their schooling ends. But because they have so little exposure to the real world I doubt they have a clue. I wonder who in the family is known as the smart one, and what the family would base that opinion on. -
Wow Wander, I could feel heartache, betrayal, strength and hope in each word I read. I wish we could all descend on you with our love, kindness and help. Your advice to Anna, her parents, and JB & M are priceless and I hope they somehow read it and feel the genuineness it reveals.

If an addiction includes benzodiazepines or alcohol a person would have to detox first because the risk of serious injury or death is real. Detoxes, in my area, are in separate facilities with medical staff where patients stay for 3 - 10 days before they are medically cleared for rehab. Any place that offers inpatient addiction services would know this or be in the news because as SP1066 said - this is serious shit. -
Thank-you Bella. And I learned 2 new acronyms/internet speak as well, courtesy of you & Google.

So true Lily. Even when trying for children. My sister had fertility issues and while they were trying to conceive,it took the intimacy right out of sex. -
Another religiously naive question, thank-you all in advance for bearing with me. Derick's mom referred to cancer as "the devil's work" and JB & M referred to God giving them the show to share their ministry. So are their beliefs that of, everything good comes from God and everything bad is the devil's work?

"I am an LCSW and I looked into become an addictions counselor and it was very rigorous, a good two years to complete as well as hundreds of hours of supervised practice. I know each state has their own guidelines for liscensure but it was nothing to sneeze at. This treatment center does not have anyone even certified in anything by the state let alone degreed in anything (we aren't going to consider a BS in church work a real degree). In addition it clearly states anyone with any medical issues or requiring two or more doctor visits will be discharged. There are no consulting psychiatrist, psychiatric nurses , social workers to treat patients. Lastly AA is a spiritual program but not a religious one. As far as Josh is concerned let him go to the work camp, He knows what he's getting into but I would hate to see anyone go to this place seeking any type of real treatment for their "sin" of addiction. This is not an industry standard. ETA: I just reread this and it sounds so hostile, I swear I don't mean it that way. It just makes me crazy what passes as treatment (or education or medical care.,..) with these groups." No worries with me NC. It didn't sound hostile at all. -
Wow, Jess's gonna be pissed again. No cover story for her when little Bam Bam is born. First the show, then the spin-offs, and now the People cover...

I'm an LICSW, and the area I bolded is the norm in my area, and insurance companies pay for treatment. The most common addiction treatment is for drugs/alcohol and unless they have a mental health diagnosis the only psychiatric treatment they will receive would be for methadone, Suboxone, and the like. And the prescribers (Psychiatrists & APRNs) I work with will not prescribe for folks without the patients also seeing a mental health Clinician. -
Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

I work in the Behavioral Health field. My work is with folks who carry a mental health diagnosis, and many of them have dual diags. I am very familiar with rehabs, supportive living and half-way houses in my area because many of them refer their clients to us. The rehabs in my area are staffed with folks who have certificates in addiction rehabilitation (many w/ addiction histories) and few, if any have any type of degree. Not one of the facilities I am familiar with has any medical staff or mental health staff, because the treatment models are different. Most addiction clients seek mental health therapy in addition to addiction counseling, and if psychiatric medication is indicated, they would be referred to a prescriber at a mental health agency, most likely by their therapist. Not sure this place isn't a scam but it is not too far off from the norm. And many rehabs follow 12 step recovery which has a spiritual base to it. -
The hackers themselves are hypocrites. They hacked this site supposedly because AM wasn't honoring their promise to delete info upon request. So the hackers, people who snoop around and break codes and invade privacy, chose when to take a 'higher moral ground'? That is 30 million+ people they decided to expose.

Not sure I believe it. The article emphasizes that he cheated while Anna was pregnant. Odds are that if Josh cheated, Anna was pregnant, considering she had 4 babies in 5 years. -
This was Lawson's post 3 days ago ... hmm lawbatesRomans 6 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• James 1 12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death

Yup WOW! This sucks all around. Maybe, just maybe SIL will go and see the implausibility of it all, and come back and say that he has reassessed the situation, and for this reason & that, he needs to call the whole thing off. Warm & fuzzies for you HFC.

I believe there was a recent pic from the day after Michaela Bates' wedding where the Duggars, including Jana and other older kids, and all the littles were gathered up outside the Bates' strip mall church singing.
