  1. Not sure where this one might fit in but now I want to see Elon on PoI. :-) http://www.nerdist.com/2014/10/elon-musk-says-artificial-intelligence-is-akin-to-summoning-a-demon/
  2. I don't think I've seen Hope and Rick interact since I've been watching - I didn't even realize they were siblings until recently - when I figured out that Brooke must be his mother, from some throw-away lines. I haven't seen Brooke interact with him either, which is my excuse for not catching on earlier. :-) So, that said. Gross. I just read Rick's Wikipedia entry. #TeamRidge right now.
  3. I'd probably join an AWA group. Well, except that I can't bring myself to even hate watch S3 yet. I did find the (excellent) Killing Tommy flashback clips on YT but it only made me sad that one character (okay, 2 - 1 living, 1 dying) could keep me from a show I had so much fun watching. :-( I could have made peace with Sara's fate if they had kept Laurel low key. I made the mistake of watching the promo of Laurel at the gym with the "learn to fight" brochure. KC does not have a very likeable screen presence. IMO, of course. I know some people like her but it seems to be more the case of liking the actress, not the character.
  4. I think it would be funny if Ridge and Caroline were named co-CEOs. I can't think of a bit of logic to explain it but here they are thinking they escaped temptation...
  5. B&B has pleasantly surprised me by avoiding or subverting a lot of the really tired soap opera tropes - at least for me these last few months. This makes Maya even more puzzling. Her attitude worked for an Erica Kane or a Rachel Cory back in the day but she's a gorgeous girl with a great job. She should be creating and promoting her own brand. (sorry for the buzz speak)
  6. It went by so fast but I laughed when Root said the Machine got her the shadow map by infomercial.
  7. Root needs to think that the Machine picked her. (ETA: after watching the lengths Samaritan went to in manipulating events, I'm not even going to rule out the possibility of the Machine sending out clues to Miss Groves, ensuring she would intercept that call.) And if not, I don't mind it as much as I used to because even if the Machine may not have originally been meant to contact Root, she/it did decide to use her in a way that Harold would have never, ever allowed. I wonder if the Machine developing God-like levels of caring about people is a direct result of Root's treating it as a God. If Root is the Machine's Prophet, well, they rarely make it to the promised land.
  8. I think Root is starting to care but she does look at this as a war and in wartime, you do what you need to do for the greater good. I've been wondering if the post-Samaritan numbers are all dual purpose - irrelevants, sure but ones the Machine has identified as being important to the cause. I hope so anyway, because otherwise it seems foolish to risk exposure of the team when the stakes are so high.
  9. That is probably more realistic but I hope not. I don't want to lose Shaw. Or any of Team Machine, actually.
  10. Hmm... I was thinking more "diamonds are a girl's best friend" but having your daughter even casually in the chain of thought re: kinky sex - ick. :-) I was kind of surprised today when the cabin didn't lead to well, the obvious. But of course, someone will find out they met there and assume the worst.
  11. Wow, this episode. All is forgiven. Now I'm sure Root is going to die. I learned this from Gan on Blakes 7. You come close to dying 4 or 5 times in an episode but don't, the audience lets their guard down and then the writers kill you off. (Plus I can't see AA committing long term to any one role. But I wouldn't mind being wrong on this one.)
  12. Isn't diamonds kind of a girly safe word? (All I know of the 50 Shades genre is what I've gleaned from Law & Order.)
  13. I don't have the history so to me it's isn't as gross but I'm confused. Originally I thought he was playing her but today it made it seem like he was maybe feeling something real for her. I did like that Caroline made it clear that she - what did she say - was also in the room? Not that it makes cheating any better but it matches up with what I saw on my screen. ETA: Is it just me or does the actress who plays Hope have the weirdest way of enunciating words? I'm kind of impressed that she can do those long rants because the rhythm seems very off kilter.
  14. I would love that. I'm missing Arrow. Every time I look at the episodes on the dvr, I think maybe I could stomach the change in direction but not yet anyway. The thing is, I probably would have broken down and watched this episode anyway if Sara's funeral had included Dinah and Quentin. And wouldn't Sara getting killed AGAIN maybe set Lance against the whole vigilante lifestyle and add some real conflict with Oliver and DLL, budding vigilante? ETA: And if not conflict, at least some angst would have been nice (and cathartic). I suppose when they find out down the road, it will just be when they need a ready made wedge for Arrow/Lance.
  15. Sorry if I appeared to misinterpret your post. I did read it all and I understood you meant it "tongue in cheek". For me it was just a jumping off point for my own thoughts on the tank top thing. (I tend to go off on tangents.) Your observation may have been "tongue in cheek" but it was still a valid one that made me stop and wonder why I didn't see the tank tops as any sort of thing. I mean, that particular wardrobe choice does stand out and I have plenty of friends who would see it as sexist. Who knows, for the wardrobe people it probably is intentionally gratuitous - Sarah Shahi is a stunning woman. But after thinking about it, I just realized that I do see it as her default uniform. It isn't a huge earth-shattering insight or anything but SS does such a great job as portraying Shaw as strong that it even carries over into her clothing. :-) ETA: p.s. no reply expected.
  16. I'm never bored by our core characters but the Brotherhood. Not interested. I'll take Root any day over a gang of hardcore drug dealers. I just don't see how this plays out in a way I want to see on my screen. Elias is a gangster too but old school, with some rules and give and take - and there the moral dilemma is just enough but not too much, if that makes sense. I don't need endless thugs with guns - I can turn on the tv anytime and see that. Now if Team Machine could maneuver the Brotherhood into an all-out war with Samaritan, that might be okay.
  17. First episode in a long time that disappointed. (Although Elias is always welcome on my screen.) ETA: From the ending, I assume we will see the kid again in some capacity, since he's now on the Brotherhood radar. It's too bad that I don't care about this SL.
  18. First time in forever that I am looking forward to the next episode. p.s. I'm one of those who came back for AS's exit but really, got awfully bored by the Abigail is awesome thing and tuned out until just now. (Not sure whether to be pissed or impressed by Marlena actually acting like a mother to Sami but it was definitely welcome.) ETA: most of the flashbacks reminded me of why I disliked EJ (not the actor, just the character) but it was nice seeing Allison. It's rare that a show can use so many real flashbacks, and I do appreciate it.
  19. But is it a relationship? Would the previous Ridge have used her to save his career and get him the company over his brother? IMWTK. ETA: TK aside, I don't see Caroline as an unwilling participant (although maybe (maybe) an unwitting victim in this SL).
  20. I agree that Ridge is too old for her, but TK ugly, old and disgusting? Not to me. :-) Lots of fond memories of his days on the ABC soaps... Also, isn't Ron Moss even older? I never saw him as Ridge - or in anything - so I don't know how this would go over with him either.
  21. I see Shaw and her tank tops in the same way I would if another character wore fatigues all the time. It defines who she is - always ready for action (of the @ss-kicking variety).
  22. For me it wasn't about Sara as the definitive Canary as much as it was the awful prospect of KC's Laurel becoming BC. It's something that never made sense with what I saw on my screen. Still, if it had happened at the beginning of S2, post-quake/Tommy it would have been much easier to accept compared to how they decided to do it in this episode. I'll probably still record the show for a while and (by lurking here) see how Team Arrow and Malcolm/Thea are handled. If anything can lure me back in, it will probably be Malcolm/Thea.
  23. In the S3 finale, when Shaw thought they were going to blow up Samaritan's data center, Root explains there are dozens more just like it all around the world. Data centers are designed so that if one server goes offline, the processing is just rerouted to another. They might have a better chance identifying the internet nodes or the physical cabling but still not something 5 people could do. I kind of like the idea of the Machine converting Samaritan to the good side of the Force but since Samaritan is so powerful, even that would upset the balance of the show too much. The only way to eliminate Samaritan that I can see would be to create a virus powerful enough to disable it but creating one that it won't see coming? That should be interesting... I do want to see Samaritan destroy Greer first. :-)
  24. Finally got a chance to see the whole episode. It was cute in spots. Nice of the Machine to provide them with operating funds. Liked the Captain and Reese finally taking his day job seriously. But doesn't anyone remember that cute Russian girl having a thing for Fusco? IRL I doubt he'd have trouble getting a date - it's just that with a kid and being on-call for Team Machine, it doesn't leave him much time for a social life. After building up Samaritan as the biggest of the Big Bads, not having anything directly Samaritan related (that I noticed anyway) made the episode feel slightly empty.
