  1. I watched Saturday's show and parts of it were good: GZ's chicken and Jeff's ham. Jeff was well behaved (i.e., calmer & mature). I didn't watch whatever Sunny was doing, and regret watching another of Katie's grandma recipes, updated layered salad. She should've updated more than the dressing & adding beets. Alex's chocolate covered matzos? I've never had this--is it good?
  2. Grilled pork chops (grilled inside due to the mega winds), Spanish Potato Salad, and baked tomatoes.

That's it...his "insistent tone of voice" that was such a turn off for me. So glad he's not taking over any shows!

@Kemper: thanks for the alert that something big was going on. Re: Chuck? I can't figure out how/why he's still an elite figure/employee of MSNBC. Isn't there anyone somewhat talented & experienced politically who could finally take over for Tim Russert?
  5. Re: Hawayek & Baker? I'm no expert. I can see that they're very talented ice dancers, strong skating skills, etc. But they look odd together. He's just too small to be her partner. And that FD they choreographed for themselves? To me, it seemed overwrought (it's ice dance not ice gymnastics). When she's in a lift, I keep wondering how he's able to manage it all. So, maybe there are some judges who view them the same way.
  6. I received my Tucci cookbook two days ago and love it. Not sure I'll make a lot of the recipes - some are quite involved. But I read the recipe for the Maria Rosa sauce and it looks good. I guess that's the one Stanley's mom was making in that episode when they had supper together.
  7. There *must* be something wrong with me! I have no idea why Alex doesn't bug me cause normally, annoying tics would drive me crazy. Yeah...the snow queen and her need to be "outdoors" has caused me to hit mute whenever it's her turn. And Katie's voice has finally reached my last nerve + her dishes no longer appeal to me. Jeff is turning up his overbearing schtick even more so lately. So, I'm really left with GZ & Alex, the two bona fide chefs. I like most of what they prepare, but I really enjoy watching their cheffy knife skills & getting tips from them.
  8. Let us know how Maria Rosa's sauce turns out. Is it like a Bolognese sauce?
  9. The writing + the *finesse-obsessed* writers of this show + LA Law, early Cheers, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, Lou Grant,..these incredibly witty, bright writers can't *all* be retired, right? I've already mentioned the dopey script I saw on the Big Bang set. SNL has finally become unwatchable thanks to the pathetic writing staff. OK, Seinfeld had great writers who were grabbing onto their previous lives + those of their friends & relatives (& it was funny!)...but where the heck are the really good humerous writers of today?
  10. I had planned to mention this in my previous post. Gilliland and Holbrook were such naturals in this show and the vacation trips were my favorite episodes of all (especially the Daddy & Sons and the Florida with Ursula shows). His character, J.D. and Mary Jo were perfect together.
  11. I'm only halfway through...will finish it later. But who was rude to Tamara after they finished skating their LP? This is a great interview!

Who is this fellow filling in for Chris Hayes? He's irritating, IMO, and I'm not sure if it's his demeanor, British accent, loud voice, or a combination.
  13. Well...yeah. But I love apple crisp (warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream). For a real deal chef, though, it's too easy peasy.
  14. Ina's broccoli and bowtie pasta.
  15. I can't handle the shrieking whistles during football & basketball games. And I can hear them even though Mr P914 is watching on his new mega TV in the basement. That sound cuts through me!
  16. Aww...I loved K/P. Saw them twice at Champions on Ice. The best part of those two shows was going early and watching this team just quietly stroking around the ice for maybe 10-15 minutes (but their programs were OTT stunning). Their son looks so much like his mother.
  17. We had curried shrimp with basmati rice, and spicy papaya salad. I like to toss lightly salted peanuts in both.
  18. Actually, ice dance and pairs are the only disciplines I watched (except for catching just in time Karen Chen's LP and Jason Brown's nonstop SP). Katsalapov was more interesting as a skater leading up to & including the 2014 Olympics. I think whoever is coaching him & his new(ish) partner has toned down his skating style, unfortunately. Fear/Gibson stole the show yesterday, IMO. I was as riveted to the screen watching them as I was during Jason's SP. Glad we have NBCSN but I guess I'm going to have to pay to see skating in the future.
  19. I'm watching a repeat from a year ago, Vegas style steaks, tableside Caesar salad, baked Alaska--yum! The first time I had Caesar salad was at a hotel restaurant in Anchorage, years ago. So delicious, plus watching the waiter prepare it was fun for this beginner foodie. Alex made baked Alaska but she didn't completely cover the dome of the sorbet. They put it in the oven & brought out a prepared one that she torched after pouring booze on the meringue. All I could think of was the mess melting in the oven. I'm going to make that salad plus Anne Burrell's shrimp (but I won't be torching it--too scary & with my luck, I'd burn down the house).
  20. I found myself missing the Shibutanis today. And the exhilarating Davis & White.
  21. 🎵"Poisoning Pigeons In The Park"🎶
  22. Of all the ice dancing teams I saw today, the one that really grabbed my attention 100% was Fear/Gibson from GB. As Tanith said, they did what the judges ask ice dancers to do--dance through their elements.
  23. And her father was the former Governor of KY. I think it is legit. Nicholle has been off all week as well--spring break for their kids, I've seen mentioned.
  24. I had a feeling he'd repeat what he did at the '18 Olympics LP...go all out to make up for his SP. He's amazing!!
  25. I've made fish in parchment using Ina's recipe (I think it's called Herb Roasted Fish). At first I did the individual packets, folding just like GZ did. Then, I got tired of that and lined a cookie sheet with parchment, placed all the fish and toppings on it, then covered it with foil so it would be sealed (but not touching the fish). Works great & less time consuming.
