  1. Amen & hallelujah for home delivery! It has saved my sanity during the pandemic shutdown. Love these intrepid delivery folks who are out there in all kinds of nasty weather.
  2. I was just thinking about the Dollar Store last night, wondering if it's safe to enter. Haven't been to one in several years but I almost always feel like a kid in there, with the low prices.
  3. Well, on the one hand I agree it would take half a second to ring the doorbell as one is placing the package on the front stoop. However...I'm so glad these folks are delivering things I can't find in local stores, or just delivering things to my home in general. During the holidays I put out water bottles, candy (for energy!!), and various packages of crackers, etc. These delivery folks work hard... UPS, Fed Ex, Prime, the wonderful good old USP Service!
  4. Today's show wasn't bad. Of course I muted Sunny and since I won't eat lamb, I didn't watch Katie (although we learned she has a new cookbook coming out). But GZ's chicken paillard looked good. And Alex's chocolate cake was a thing of beauty. Interesting that Sunny now says, just before her segment starts, that she's keeping her distance, out there on a patio. I bet viewers are asking FN what the heck is going on with her. Also interesting that we never see KL's cute hubby any more, nor her dog. It's as though she too has a mystery camera person...even though we know who it is.
  5. So, here we are, Stanley's audience, craving Italian food and beautiful scenery and wine, after watching these episodes...ready to hop on a plane and fly over...and the country has shut down. Mamma mia! I could cry.
  6. I just read an article at looper.com about some of the memorable character actors who have since died. Remember Ricky, the odd duck sitting next to Elaine on the subway? He was the one who made a tree out of theTV Guide she left on the train while trying to get away from him. According to the article, he was Christopher Lloyd's nephew.
  7. Meatloaf, gravy, little Yukon potatoes, baked parmesan tomatoes, & salad.
  8. Not surprised. Jeff, when he's got his volume turned *way up* is equally annoying. But there are times, when he's relaxed & not OTT, that he's very funny. Glad I got to see him grilling on his back porch this past year, interacting with his adorable child and his sweet wife.
  9. Today I turned on the TV and the Kitchen was on. I think it was from 2019. Jeff, Sunny, GZ, Katie, and Anne somebody (the one with the wild hairdo). They had an assembly line set up as each one added something to a platter of nachos. It really looked good. But through a fake window behind them, something caught my eye--Sunny's "outdoor" fence, the one she stands in front of when it's snowing...and you can see her breath.
  10. We've hardly had any snow so this happening more and more is new around here. Strange.
  11. Well...I caved. I placed an order for the initial Tucci cookbook. It's out of stock but they'll deliver it when available. I'm interested in that sauce his mom was making. He's cooked with Lidia and she's impressed ~sigh~I love cookbooks.
  12. I've recently begun to notice discarded masks on pavements outside medical bldgs, on parking lots at supermarkets, shopping centers, libraries, etc. These are the pleated ones, mostly. Is there some type of "protest" going on via mask littering? I'm seeing it more & more the past few weeks, so it has become obvious that something's going on.
  13. Hallelujah & amen! Why can't we we have more Stanleys and less Fieris? What are we--chopped liver?
  14. A drinking game based on Tucci's reactions to the food? I'll be passed out by 9:20 PM!
  15. If the regions have nice scenery, some decent food & wine or, heck...Venice! It's got the canals and gondolas. Actually, to date I've only swooned over Naples & the Amalfi coast activities, foods, restaurants, etc. But I'm enjoying his conversations with all types of Italians, learning about their experiences in hard times (e.g., WWII), and I really love this show.
  16. The little wine window in the wall? Didn't we see that wall window in an earlier episode--maybe in Rome? Tonight, Tucci said this window couldn't be seen outside of Tuscany. I'm confused. Well...it was an interesting episode. I think the best part was Tucci and his parents together in Tuscany, reminiscing about their year living there back in 1972. I liked seeing him cooking with his mom, dining with his parents. I miss that experience with my parents. Enjoy it while you can! The countryside and the city all have a glow (I've heard that has something to do with the fabulous artworks there). So, next week is Sicily? That should be interesting.
  17. I remember when Dannon reduced the amount of yogurt in it's containers--from 8 oz to maybe 6 oz quite a few years ago (just looked at a container of Wegmans yogurt & it's 5.5 oz).
  18. Wow...you have four. My sister has always been in awe of our having three PBS stations: MPT, WETA & the one at Howard U. Sheesh...I now loathe those doo w**, golden oldies shows. A lot of the singers have just about lost their voices. Wish they'd do something different, like hold British movie festivals.
  19. Pesto pasta with potatoes & green beans. Don't know how to delete this emoticon--nothing works! 😏
  20. I've been seeing those beautiful promos of Tucci's next show: Tuscany! But I'll be prepared this time as I'll have my baguette, thin-sliced hard salami, and Prosecco on hand.
  21. Yup. When they were at home, they weren't acting like a bunch of court jesters, competing for attention. There was nice interaction with family. This morning it seemed too loud and too fake.

    MSNBC

I also think a lot of us are worn out after the past 5 years of shocks, insults, meanness, criminality, etc. It has taken a toll on us and we need a break. Two days ago, I realized it was almost 4:00. Normally I'd have stopped what I was doing and dashed into the tv room to put on Deadline:White House. But I now realize a grown-up is in charge and I can relax, be calm, go about my ordinary biznez. I do like hearing from certain guests like Jonathan Swan, Jonathan Lemire from AP, John Heilman, Andrew Weissman, Heidi Przbyla, A. B. Stoddard, and the outstanding reporters from the W Post, etc. Ashley Parker is a favorite. I wish Nicholle would "retire" Claire and Donna. But, it's still my favorite show. Just need a mental vacation for a while (2022 is coming up!)
  23. I had to hit the mute button at 11:02 and then asked myself why I was watching this show. It's such forced (& in some cases fake) attempts at being hip (& loud, of course). Alex & GZ look ridiculous woo-hooing...they're too mature & too talented, being Iron Chefs with so darn much experience & knowledge. Plus, the food doesn't appeal to me today so I think I'll take a pass.
  24. One nice thing about egotists: they don't talk about other people. ******************************************************************************** I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose A little legal humor: Q: Do you recall the time that you examined the body? A: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m. Q: And Mr. Dennington was dead at the time? A: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy.
