This is our future "utopia" and they couldn't make her a doctor? Sexist bastards. Her only qualification for nurse is probably that the uniform fit. They supposedly don't have their hive of hidden worker bees to make more and their school didn't seem to teach weaving and pattern making in between the sex pep talks.

Sharknado 3: Oh HELL No! (Syfy) - General Discussion
Zanne replied to DollEyes's topic in Sharknado (Syfy)
I'm impressed April not only gave birth inside of a shark, but managed to put her pants back on before they landed. -
If Kate is 14 (or is it 12? whatever) years older, indicating she's been awake in Wayward Pines at least 14 years longer than Ethan, then why are they only getting around to the first generation now? No teenagers were awakened in the first set? Were most of them babies born in Wayward Pines or were they saved for thawing an extra decade and a half to keep them fresh? Fourteen years seems like a long time to wait to get started on training your first generation, particularly if they were already teenagers when frozen. And fourteen years seems like a long time to wait to see if things are working, if they were waiting before thawing out the teens.

The Genie is out of the bottle. The horse is out of the barn, and the toothpaste is out of the tube! I'm surprised no one has gone for the obvious with the Duggars... The baby is out of the uterus!

Do anyone you remember the fan comic with Sam's little ball of angst? They used to have it bookmarked on TWoP in the fanfiction thread, but that's what the cloud reminded me of. It must have mated with Dean's ball of angst to make one gigantic universe destroying ball of angst.

There goes the neighborhood.

They will probably make up by the end of the next episode. What this episode made clear to me is that I obviously don't understand what "best friend" means. Jordanna claimed Jason is her best friend, and he claimed the same, but in the same episode Misty said Jordanna was her best friend. But wait, wasn't Kristen Misty's best friend a few episodes ago? And Lila claimed Jason as best friend, and vice versa, in episode one. Yet they all treat each other like crap.

I think the main problem is they chose the largest olive in the world for that shot. If they had chosen a smaller type of olive, it would have looked less awful. But I agree, it makes her look terrible to be shoving that thing into her gaping maw.

Amen. The reason Misty didn't get that money dress wasn't because she was fat, but the fact that it accentuated her horrible cleavage. That dress had no built in support so it needed a model with a relatively flat or, at least, a much smaller chest. When Misty had it on, it looked like she had a hole in her chest because of her cleavage. The second outfit looked much better on her. She is far too young to have cleavage that droopy so it's all the fault of a terrible bra. And, to be fair, I have a large bosom so I know what I'm talking about. I couldn't have worn that money dress, either.

She kept randomly pursing her lips and it annoyed me so much. I kept thinking, "Stop that! You look like a fish." It looked awful. Why she thinks that is attractive, I will never understand.

Me, too. I wasn't even looking at the TV and was only half paying attention, but when I heard that I looked up and thought, "Oh God, why are they making Renard put on that terrible accent?"

I like Felicia Day, in general, but I am less fond of Charlie. If she opens, middles, or ends with, "[Fill in the blank], bitches!" I may stab something. Just...ugh. Stop doing that. That makes me hate her.

Going Clear: Scientology And The Prison Of Belief
Zanne replied to Janet Snakehole's topic in HBO Documentaries
My guess is there is comfort in the familiar (the cross) for those who are new to the program and the star was added to cover the alien-ideology that comes further in. -
They've been rewarded for their sacrifice by being reborn. They're approximately ten years old by now (show timeline is so screwed, I can't remember how much time is supposed to have passed), so they are on their way to middle school soon. They'll be married again by the time this show finally ends.

In Alexandria's case, several posters made some excellent suggestions regarding the Pete situation. Take away the alcohol, move the wife and children to another house, don't let him beat his family. They had the capability of exerting some control to make things better, and they chose not to. It's not like Pete would choose to leave. He'd fall in line or learn that things could get far less plush. I don't think being a doctor should excuse him 100% from what he'd done.

To quote the red-headed prophet Abraham, just because the world was shitty before, doesn't mean we have to save that shit now. The apocalypse could be a literal restart button. Alexandria could have molded their new society into something better (no wife beaters, for one), but they were afraid of change. That's why they are not true survivors. They're rats holding on to a sinking ship.

I think that is a large part of what led to the disconnect, as well. The American dream, the last shining light in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, is comprised of cowards and wife beaters, covered with a veneer of vapidness. Is that really worth saving? I think you're probably right about the plan (the logic of their thinking still escapes me!), but I believe they killed Red Poncho just outside the gates to distract the walkers inside. The walkers all came to the gates for fresh blood so the other guy could go in and reset the trap to get the walkers back into the trucks. One of them made a comment indicating it needed to be reset before killing Red Poncho.

I'm rooting for Kaitlin. I wasn't a fan at first, but she was one of the only contestants to play the game with integrity, in my opinion, so I want her to wipe the floor with the rest of them. I would love it if Colby backed her!

I counted about maybe a dozen houses inside the fences. I may be off since the scenes shift, but there don't seem to be many homes within the walls.

Ellen's Design Challenge - General Discussion
Zanne replied to selhars's topic in Ellen's Design Challenge
How/Why was Tim disqualified? I blinked and I missed it! ETA: He copied a piece? I'm disappointed he didn't win. I didn't like Katie's plastic looking design style very much. -
I heard Robyn mumble "child support" at least once in response to asking how this would change things, but I thought she was saying that by marrying Kody she would be losing child support. She can't buy all those VS panties on the pittance she gets from TLC alone!
