I've been thinking about Survivor today and have been reading comments in various threads that say Abi is a goat. However she seems to be a deciding influence/factor in determining most of the boots: Pre-Merge Vytas--don't remember but I think Jeff went with Abi and the "new-school" players so team Abi won (not sure how much was driven by her) Shirin---Abi's doing Peih-Gee--Abi's doing again Jeff---Abi but mainly because he was injured (imo) Monica--I don't remember (I don't think it was Abi's tribe so she didn't have a chance to influence the decision) Terry (quit) Woo---Abi strikes again Kass--I think this was the only time Abi wasn't a factor Andrew--Abi strikes again Kelly--Abi again (with others but still Abi endorsed her after Stephen threw her name out after his 1st suggestion didn't go over well). Abi talked about Kelly's great social game. Obviously other people were involved but the ultimate decision always seemed to involve Abi (what she would agree to or to keep her calm or whatever) I have mixed feelings about Abi but I do find her entertaining. I don't see her as weak and I think she has had a major influence on the game.

Yes, I get what you are saying and I could live with not knowing Hood's real name. Actually, you are right. It would be disappointing to learn his real name since it would just be a name and not mean anything. He is the man we call Lucas Hood. I want him to remain mysterious yet I also want to know about his special forces/government time and how/when that ties into him being a small time crook/thief who ended up pulling off the big score and all the rest….basically his back story. On the Cinemax website, the Origins clips have some good secret scenes but they are usually just relevant to the episodes and not much on his backstory. If you haven't checked them out then I highly recommend going to the Cinemax website. I completely agree about the outrageous premise, excessive action and would include gratuitous sex/nudity and brutal violence (even gore) yet is is done so well it is integral to the story (shows the story rather than telling the story---like Carrie missing Hood and feeling alone and needy in her bathtub scene). Also Banshee has/had many strong female characters and is one of the few shows that does strong (emotionally, psychologically, physically, etc) female characters. Carrie/Ana has always been strong but just look at Rebecca's journey and Siobhan's story. The characters motivations, relationships, stories, etc are done to perfection. The top notch acting, gorgeous filming/scenery/cinematography, and complex/intricate stories/plots are just a part of why Banshee is one of my favorite shows. The action sequences/stunts (people, cars, fights, etc) is at a movie level or better. It's fascinating how insanely ridiculous and over the top Banshee can be that it is done so well that actually a strength of the show. I'm having a hard time finding the words to express myself but I find it to be much more than an adrenaline fueled action show…the family/friends/co-works/communities relationships, interactions, stories are just as powerful. I'm stop now since I'm already babbling like a total fangirl. check out Banshee Origins on the Cinemax site.

S22.E14: The Guy Who Was A Momma's Boy
Vicky8675309 replied to OnceSane's topic in America's Next Top Model [V]
Is Nyle deaf? There was one sentence were he didn't refer to his deafness and I almost forgot….not. I'm sure it is the editing but it gets old. He is a gorgeous man and I'm sure he can do some modeling work. He will be limited by size and they have to get his eyes just right so he doesn't look cross eyed. But when captured correctly he is gorgeous. I think Mikey is the best model based on size and looks. I wonder if he really relies on his hair for comfort/security or if that is editing. I think he can get over it if it is real and not just editing. Mame is gorgeous and I can see her being a model but her photos haven't wowed me as much as the others. Lacey is also gorgeous but she seems to have the same expressions however that may just be the editing. I'm not sure about her body/size and the longevity she would have as a model. I think a lot of the personality we see is editing or done for drama. Obviously Mikey is charismatic and the girls and guys seem to like him even when he is being outrageous. He's probably a decent person but a bit of a player (who cares). Nyle is proud of being deaf but I doubt that is all he talks about in real life. I think the editing is going overboard in focusing on that one aspect of Nyle. At least it may get people to see stuff from another perspective. Sometimes he looks goofy and other times he is drop dead gorgeous. Mame should have gone home if anyone was going home. I like all of them but I think Mikey is the best model. -
lol, I love shows with excessive violence. That reminds me that Hannibal also ended:-( I'm just feeling/sounding like the old person I am, with "back in the day we use to have good tv shows like Banshee, Boardwalk Empires, etc". At least Vikings and GoT aren't ending this season (at least I hope not). Thanks for the suggestions and I'll check out the others. I do love the incredible characters in Banshee. They are all much more complex and multifaceted than expected. They do a excellent job with having "grey" characters (hard to explain but not really any pure good or pure bad guys but more morally/ethically complex). I like the dynamics and interactions. Even the kids who are usually so annoying on tv shows aren't annoying (not much). Also the cultural diversity is fascinating. I don't see a happy ending even though I want one. I hope by the final episode we learn the name of the man we call Lucas Hood!

I'm not sure how comedies are relevant to action tv shows. The only comedies I like are Archer, Legit (ended) and The League. Also most superhero** shows aren't my thing since they are geared towards kids--like Arrow and Marvel's AoS. I prefer the more gritty or dark dramas/action shows like Banshee, Strike Back and the others I mentioned. I plan to watch Man in the High Castle but the rest don't seem to fit into a banshee/bad-ass category. Sense8 sounded interesting but then I heard bad stuff about it so I'll will wait before trying it. **I think there is a comic/superhero type show coming out soon that sounds good…something with the word Preacher in the title. Anyway it sounds more like a badass banshee style show Kudos to Cinemax for Banshee and Strike Back (and kudos to BBC). I think Banshee was a hidden gem and if it had been on FX it would have a much larger fan base. However that didn't affect the show since I think it is ending where the creator wants it to end (I hope that is the case) as opposed to it being cancelled. still sad about the future of tv shows….most of the dark gritty dramas and adult oriented action shows have ended or are ending. Banshee is in my top 10 favorite shows and I've been a fan since the first episode aired (well actually I became a hardcore fan after episode 3 which he fought that MMA guy [sanchez]). The fight choreography was top notch and I loved seeing that woman abuser getting the shit kicked out of him. The writing, acting, cinematography, fight choreography and everything is top notch.

I'm so sad this is the final season. It seems like all the good shows are ending or have ended (Banshee, Strike Back, Breaking Bad, Southland, Sons of Anarchy, Justified and so many more).

Weren't Josh and Tanner the ones trying to steal taxis by rushing ahead of the "older" couple and mom/son teams but then all nice when it is the pretty ladies. Yeah, the cheerleaders unnecessarily helped them so it was probably pay back but stupid moves on both their parts (cheerleaders helping the texans when both are in last place and then the guys not racing but instead letting cheerleaders go first since they arrived to the challenge first). I bet if another team helped them, they would not have given up their spot for them. I didn't like Phil suggesting everyone use the u-turn on the green team. I guess he realizes these people may not know strategy. I'm hoping green gets through the u-turn before everyone and then someone wastes it on green and ends up being eliminated because they didn't u-turn a team behind them. Justin can be annoying but I don't think he is a bad guy. I don't think he is mean or nasty. Sure he is a jerk when arguing but that can happen when arguing and being fatigued and emotional. I respect them as racers even though I am sure the show will throw a curve ball and get them eliminated since I doubt they want a team dominating (like the dentist did) and they aren't giving them that great of an edit. I liked that he could let go of the tough guy image enough to cry at Schindler's factory. Justine shouldn't have apologized for the prior leg since that earned them more $. I bet she did so to get them past the disagreement (not worth "winning" an argument sometimes). Anyway, they are flawed humans but great racers and I'm rooting for them even though most comments here are against them. I like competent racers (and I also frequently like intelligent villains on reality shows, not that they are villains). I don't dislike any of the racers and all can be annoying yet likable (even the paparazzi---the guy picking the task because it was physically easier and he knows she is more fit).

I hope Tim is including Ashley in his criticism. Didn't Ashley have smug TH about how she couldn't believe people would come to the finale unprepared with unfinished work while hers was all finished. Then right before the final runway she is GLUING flowers onto a dress. Are the majority of the show's fans (non-message board viewers) supportive of her win of the show?
-
since the plus size designer of plus sized clothing won Project Runway, do you all think the deaf model will win ANTM? I think it is obvious but we shall see. At least the deaf model can model which is more than I can say about Ashley's ability to design clothing.

I was just reading some of the posts on the latest episode and found out this show is cancelled and there are only one or two episodes left. Were all the episodes filmed before the show aired? If so then I doubt we will find out what happened to Ginny, Cassandra's backstory (and what Wesley is hiding from her about her family), the connection between Cassandra and Ginny, who killed Wesley's friend in the mausoleum and who is targeting Wesley/"the house". Somehow I doubt they they filled new episodes after the cancellation order so I think the show will end with unanswered questions which is a bummer. I'm sad that the show was cancelled and maybe it could have been on a better night or time slot. Maybe another channel can pick it up or netflix/amazon. Better yet would be Starz or Cinemax. Banshee has a final season and then it is over so maybe Cinemax could pick it up. Hmm, USA and other networks could also pick it up. I doubt they will because it don't have a large built in fan base:-(

glued on flowers…. yet she won. Didn't she also sew an inside zipper on the outside and then paint it darker so it wasn't as obvious? Also how did she fix the busted zipper that happened right before the runway? Seriously, her collection was atrocious!

OMG I can't believe this show. I just got caught up on this show (haven't seen the reunion) and am so pissed off. I haven't read any comments yet but doubt I am alone in my surprise and horror that Ashley won. I'm sure she is a nice woman but I am not a fan of the character/designer I watched on this edited reality show. Her crying, constant victimhood, insecure, ugly ass print picking, repetitive designs, sloppy fitting, crappy sewing ass drove me nuts all season. My disgust at the pandering delusional hypocritical "judges" is making me want to puke. Edmond or Kelley should have won. I felt bad for Candice--the "judges" were so harsh with her. Yes, she annoyed me through the show but by the end of part 2 of the finale I felt bad for her and I hope after seeing who they picked as a winner, she realizes the judges opinions are messed up this season. Despite not being a fan of Candice, I would have picked her over Ashley for a winner. Poor Kelley--she was so upset at not winning. I think she is a winner since she will get many fans by being on this show (I hope she capitalizes from her exposure on the show). Same for Edmond (he's my favorite) and I hope his dreams are actualized. I am not a fan (duh) of Ashley but I do not wish anything bad on her. I don't think she is a happy person and I don't think she is very talented based on what I saw. I'm sure PR (and Elle) will promote her sad/negative/always the victim "designer". I hope she doesn't sabotage herself. I really disagree with the judges about their pick as winner. Anyone of the other 3 would have been preferable. Especially Edmond or Kelly. I hope I am not the only person upset/disappointed/enraged and I'm off to read the comments.

Diana's decision not to take a taxi turned out to be a great decision since it means more $ from FitBit. More steps = more dollars

Sandra won twice!

I don't understand all the dislike for Terry. IIRC he is doesn't lie (not in Panama and I don't think he has this season) so I'm not sure why people are doubting him. I get that he may not play the best social game (season 12) but I don't think he was that inept the first time around. Aras's tribe was just really tight and Terry had already shown himself to be a threat in challenges. Sure he could have played a better social game but it wasn't horrible. Overall he didn't try to ruffle feathers and downplayed some of the rewards. He was in the numbers minority, couldn't effectively sway the other tribe members (probably because he refused to lie), dominated in challenges…great underdog story just like Mike from last year. Hell, he made it to #3 and would have won if he had made it to F2 (if Danielle hasn't gone back on her promise). IMO, in Panama he didn't come off as misogynistic. Instead he seems logical and tried to align with people who were showing cracks in their alliance. Also pre-merge he tried to keep his tribe strong which lead to some of the weaker women being voted out. I just finished re-watching S12 Panama/Exile Island and didn't see any sexist comments/behavior except maybe when giving examples of treating women right he used flight attendants (or stewardess) as an example but even that isn't sexist since men and women can be flight attendants and he probably picked that example because that is who he interacts with at work (he's a pilot). I really doubt he has issues with women pilots. He could have used them as an example but he probably interacts more with his crew, hence the use of flight attendants as examples of women he treats correctly. Anyway, Aras is a bitch! out of his tribe I only liked Circe (Shane could be entertaining but I didn't "like" him). I liked Terry again this season and I'm glad his son is doing well. What a good looking kid!

This was my least favorite season but I'm glad Nora won.

I did some searching online while trying to figure out which season of Survivor to re-watch and found out I didn't remember a lot of the events or people from older seasons. I was horrified to read about Survivor: Thailand winner Brian Heidik shooting a puppy. No f*cking way will I re-watch that season (he didn't shoot the puppy on the show but there is no way I could watch him while knowing that info). Are there other contestants who make it far on their season of Survivor that were cruel to animals (I'm not talking about hunting food to eat or quickly killing a chicken to eat)? If so then please let me know so I can skip re-watching their seasons. On a lighter note, re-watching Pearl Island all these years later was a blast. Those tribes (Morgan and Drake) were so unbalanced from the onset. Sandra remained awesome in an understated way.

Evan should have been eliminated last week. Scott being eliminated (instead of Evan) reminds me of Roy getting eliminated on his first season. I hope Ben or Nora win….probably rooting more for Ben since I like his dog! Lol

The reunion seemed like a PR stunt and none of the apologies seemed genuine--neither did Alana hugging Shane (she knew she looked like a bitch in that episode). Alana and vegi dani still smirked mean girl style and disgusted me as did Chris and everyone who said anything bad about non-veg Dani (the wanderer/loner and not the mean one). I still dislike all of them except Shane, EJ, Jeff, and Dani the introvert. The black guy seems cool but he wasn't on the show long enough to see if he had a bad side. One thing about this XL version is it exposes some of the "survivalists" raw personality when stressed and in group situations. Shane came across on the reunion as very raw and genuine--not afraid to own up to his weaknesses and to show his emotions and how they had hurt his feelings. I think that took a lot of courage, especially for a guy who seems to be tough and independent. I shouldn't be surprised since even on the show he swallowed his pride and went back to the mean girls and even said he couldn't do it on his own. I really think he came across very well imo.
-
I went from liking everyone except Honora early in the season to disliking everyone except Dani the lone wanderer and the 3 alpha males. Lol, I never thought I would be rooting for alpha males. Shane, despite tapping, was one of the "winners" imo.
-
why did Alana use the fish trap when Shane was in camp and have fish to share with him? She makes the fish trap only after he leaves camp--ugh! I was disgusted with their gloating about being dry under the raised shelter that Shane made and they bitched about since they didn't want a raised shelter at first--ugh! I worry that the mean girls will manipulate EJ and the other guy. Shane has behaved himself much better than I would have done in a similar situation. My heart felt for him when he overheard them trashing him.

S01.E04: 40 Days Snake in the Grass
Vicky8675309 replied to David T. Cole's topic in Naked And Afraid XL [V]
I hope Shane does well. I fear he jinxed himself with all the talk about lasting 40 days. I'm not superstitious but I've seen other shows edited so that when someone says they will last the entire time or will win, then they are out next. Regardless, I am currently rooting for Shane and am so disappointed in Dani the follower. Do we have two people named Dani? One of the mean girls and one in the all girl group? I'm disappointed with the Dani paired with Shane and the other mean girl. -
Honora should have been paired with the mean girls. Shane should have been paired with Luke and Chris. Then I could dislike one entire team (mean girls). I am so disappointed with Dani (?, the blonde vegetarian who has/had a fever) since I liked her when she was on the show last season. I'm sure Shane can be annoying but I think he means well (good intentions) and just says outrageous stuff at times (but the others seems to over-react to anything he says, even if not controversial). Currently I don't mind Shane and I dislike the two "mean girls" with him. I find it interesting that they are showing this ugly side of themselves since I liked at least one previously (I don't remember the other one much).
-
cut to the bone? so she has severed muscles/tendons? I don't remember where on her hand/finger the cut was located. I'm bad with names. Fever girl (Danni?) and pal seemed bitchy towards Shane despite him trying to help them with the mangos which can be eaten when green (may not taste good but it's food). Sure he says stuff that maybe better left unsaid but he is at least trying to help. His words remind me of a teenager but his actions seem like a nice adult (getting food for someone in need). I wonder if the showed edited out the alpha's searching for more water--they must have looked more than just the once that we were shown. Honora didn't finish her first time around so the opening voice over is lying when it talks about them all having increased their PSRs and surviving the 1st time around. So far I like them all except Honora. I'm sure that will change as time goes on since Shane and the 2 with him seem annoying (it's a shame since I really like Danni who has previously done Columbia--I was hoping her male partner was also on this season since he was great).
-
The guy had a great attitude and interacted with his "partner" wonderfully. He built a kick ass shelter with a door and overcame his fear of the dark. I really liked the guy--humble and funny. I don't get the big foot thing and suspect either someone played a mean prank on him or he is unconsciously protecting himself from some more human traumatic event. He didn't strike me as one of those "alien abducted me" or "I track/love bigfoot" people but more like a vicious prank or a defense mechanism to cope with a more realistic trauma (molestation or something). He seemed to genuinely fear bigfoot and not like he was trying to track big foot. I wish that big foot thing never happened to him but it detracts from his accomplishments (dealt well with a crappy partner, kick ass shelter, overcame fear, survived alone for the longest time, patience and determination in getting the mole, finding fresh water, etc. I thought he was great--he seemed to have a great sense of humor and wasn't all alpha male/macho man yet wasn't all pathetic lying down killing time like some others. He put up traps and stalked that mole. Plus he survived the longest alone.
