  1. Danny wasn’t Danny in the 1941 sequences. He was Milton (Milton Cooper, I think, who I think they said was Chang Apana’s real-life professional partner, or worked with him on his cases in some other way). So Steve apparently imagined himself to be his namesake grandfather, working with Chang Apana’s partner instead of Chang Apana, as Grandpa Steve had. At least that’s what I got outta it.
  2. Regarding the bolded & italicized: Tani’s 40’s alter ego was named Alexa Alana, I’m 99.9% positive; the 0.1% of me that’s not positive says her name was flipped—Alana Alexa. But the former sounds more correct in my head than the latter.
  3. Jen posted this cute (IMO) pic of Will & Zoey. The caption says they were getting ready to see the Mouse (as in Mickey at Walt Disney World, I assume). It makes sense since they’re Floridians now (so it shouldn’t be that bad of a trip now) & the kids probably don’t have to be in school tomorrow (or maybe they weren’t in school Friday) because of Veterans Day.
  4. I too loved the ep & the alternate version of the main title theme (I wish we could download it from somewhere—the CBS site or the usual music/TV show download sites). I couldn’t help but wonder, though, if Chin & Kono would’ve had the same parts as Tani & Junior, or how the story might’ve differed if DDK & Grace P were still in the cast & Beulah Koale & Meaghan Rath weren’t in it at all.
  5. Thankfully, the Notorious RBG was only hospitalized overnight. She’s out now, & apparently doing well. Given her age, & the fact she broke 3 ribs in the fall, the hospitalization was probably more of an “out of an abundance of caution” thing (the rib injury could cause/could have caused a collapsed lung, & who knows what else).
  6. You can watch it on CBS’ website or app. I think on your phone, via the app, is better.
  7. If you’ve just thought that in recent years, don’t forget he was in a really traumatic (traumatic injuries for him) auto accident in which a good friend of his also died. As I remember it took him awhile to fully recover. Maybe that has has an effect on his “shtick”.
  8. Not to mention Tyne Daly has herself won many prestigious entertainment industry awards, including 6 Emmys for 3 different roles & a 1990 Tony Award for her portrayal of Mama Rose in the revival of Gypsy. Tyne Daly on Wikipedia
  9. I thought maybe Scott (& maybe Alex) was starting to wear it that way onscreen to help cover up the at least somewhat receding hairline he’s had since the show started—though Alex didn’t really (sort of like Matt Lauer, years before NBC fired him, shaved his head to a buzz cut because of apparently increasingly obvious hair loss). If Scott has a scene where his hair’s wet in the front, you can tell his hairline is receding there. Maybe it’s starting to recede in other areas of his head now. Could Scott also have changed his hairstyle because of another project he was shooting during the hiatus, until right before H50 shooting resumed for the start of S9? Kind of like DDK’s hair was a little wonky looking in the early episodes of whatever H50 season came after he did The King and I on Broadway during the summer hiatus (DDK shortened/partially buzzed his hair, as I remember, into/close to an authentic hairstyle traditionally worn by Siamese Kings during the time period in which the musical was set).
  10. From WANE.com (CBS affiliate in Fort Wayne, IN): Mari Hulman George, in Recent Years the Woman Who Announced ‘(Lady/Ladies and) Gentlemen Start Your Engines!’ at the Start of the Indianapolis 500, Dead at Age 83
  11. If you love shows about American politics, I suggest The West Wing if you haven’t seen it already. It’s not snarky though; it’s a drama (& won the Outstanding Drama Series Emmy in each of its first 4 seasons; it ran for 7 seasons). I thought Miles bought him the suit because didn’t he spring on Pat at the last minute that they were going to have him run the numbers on the telecast since he’s the show’s resident tech nerd? I’m pretty sure somebody at least said something about how he looked like Miles. I may have to go watch it again on the CBS app.
  12. Maybe they’re having trouble getting a continued license to use/air Manilow’s song/performance (& “I Am Your Child” wasn’t even a single; it was just an album cut, from his first album—though he does do it, at least periodically, in his live shows & it’s very popular when he does)? But I’m pretty sure “One” previously aired in syndication; so they had rights to use it for at least a certain period after the show went off-network/ended the original CBS run. Oh well... the birthday party may not be on, but the birth is. So I can deal with that.
  13. I finally went to look at the AntennaTV schedule for the upcoming marathon. The date that came up for me was November 14th, just as I originally said, from 5AM Eastern/4AM Central through 11:30PM Eastern/10:30 PM Central.
  14. Thanks for the correction. I’d have sworn Shadoe Stevens says the 14th on the voiceover. Even though your post with the correct date is after mine, I’ll correct my post anyway. For reasons that might be obvious by my screen name, I’m hoping 1 of the eps they’re showing is “One”—Avery’s first birthday party, complete with special guest, & unusual invited guests thanks to a mixup by Murphy’s secretary of the episode, which Murphy almost completely misses because of travel issues. There are others, like “Birth”, I want to see; but I’m really hoping for “One” to be on too.
  15. AntennaTV will be airing an all-day “Murphy at 30” marathon on November 14th... or maybe the 13th; some people are seeing it on AntennaTV’s Online Schedule on the 13th & others are seeing the 14th (& I’d swear the voiceover promo Shadoe Stevens does on the network for it, which I’ve heard multiple times, says November 14th). It’s supposed to be on from 5AM Eastern/4AM Central through 11:30PM Eastern/10:30PM Central (when the Johnny Carson Tonight Show repeat starts). I don’t have a link to the info, but I was watching AntennaTV awhile ago & they aired a couple of promos for it while I was watching.

  18. Multiple Entertainment News sources recently reported that CBS’ Magnum PI reboot has been renewed for the rest of this season, along with The Neighborhood & God Friended Me.
  19. From NBC News: Notorious Boston Mob Boss James ‘Whitey’ Bulger, 89, Found Dead in West Virginia Prison The death is under investigation because Bulger had only arrived at the West Virginia penitentiary on Monday.
  20. No. They had already started the process for Will, including the home study part, then they (Jen) got a phone call from 1 of the agencies they’d signed up to adopt through about possibly adopting a little dwarf girl born in India who became Zoey. Jen initially felt it’d be too much, but they also felt they couldn’t leave her, so they began the process with her simultaneously with Will. But Will came home first. And since they’d already had the home study during Will’s adoption they didn’t have to repeat it for Zoey, Jen said.
  21. Apparently—or at least vice versa. There’s been at least 1 reference by that show’s resident HPD cop character (the actor’s name is Tim Kang; his character is a Lieutenant, but I forget the last name) in most episodes, if not all, so far (I haven’t seen last night’s/this week’s yet) to Magnum letting HPD & Five-0 handle the case & Magnum staying out of it. The character of Medical Examiner Dr. Noelani Cunha has been in 2 or 3 of the 5 eps that have aired through last night. I think the character of Kamekona has been in 1 ep. Seeing as the shows share the same Creator, Showrunner & network, not to mention setting/location, it makes sense to me that characters from H50 & Magnum can be in each of those shows without taking the audience/viewer out of the story. Even though their show’s premise involves traveling around the world, & I did enjoy seeing the H50 characters on it (I love seeing them anywhere), I’m not sure the episode where MacGyver worked with Chin, Kono, & Kamekona (or vice versa) after an earthquake in Hawaii worked as well with me, even though it has the same Showrunner as the Hawaii-based shows (by the way, if you haven’t heard by now, Magnum got picked up for the full season),
  22. I think Peter Lenkov, the Creator & Showrunner (& oftentimes Writer), has said they run all the military stuff (like the different ceremonies & things related to the Navy—remains repatriation, the Pearl Harbor Attack, etc.) we’ve seen through, & get technical assistance from, at least the now Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam there in Hawaii, if not the Defense Department & the appropriate military branch there in Washington. Since Honolulu, in particular, is a big “military town” (like the entertainment industry is the big thing in LA) they try to be respectful & accurate when they depict military life.
