  1. With apologies, this is rather belated, happy news from People: Bradley Whitford and Amy Landecker Are Engaged The announcement was made during Oscar weekend & I somehow missed it until now (I found it while looking up something else about BW). The happy couple met while co-starring (but apparently not sharing scenes) in the Amazon Prime series Transparent. They’ve been dating since 2015.
  2. I’m pretty sure Zoey was 2 when they adopted her. I think they said they’d just barely missed getting (custody of) her in time for her birthday. I’m positive Zoey was 2 when they got her, but it may have been Will whose birthday they barely missed in regards to when they got custody of 1 of the kids. I remember them saying they barely missed having 1 of the kids in the family in time for their birthday though.
  3. Speaking of Jen’s celebrity being a huge draw in attracting potential donors for hospital fundraisers, I wonder how many people recognized Bill at the trade show when he was promoting the dog pee pads (which may have been in a different ep, so I apologize if it was; the remark about Jen’s celebrity was a perfect lead into it that I couldn’t resist)? The people talking to Bill about the pee pads probably had to wonder why they were being filmed, unless they thought it was for the local news or something. Or did the promoters/sponsors of the event use Bill’s participation in their promotion of it (“Come to the event & meet Bill Klein from TV’s/TLC’s The Little Couple”)?
  4. My guess is they pulled the plug on the marriage—which makes sense since Grace P’s not coming back & they seem to wanna keep Ian Anthony Dale around (which is fine with me, contrived though the plot line may have to be to do that). And yeah, spending time with Kono, wherever she’s supposed to be looking for the human traffickers, is usually said to be why he’s not around (I guess, whatever happened between CBS & Grace [& Daniel], somebody still wants the viewers to believe Kono [& Chin] is still ʻohana, though not Five-0 anymore, so they keep mentioning Adam’s going to see her when he’s supposed to be going somewhere away from Honolulu—but, by the same token, they can’t seem to be bothered to come up with an excuse, all the time, for where Danny’s supposed to be during the 1 in every 5 episodes Scott gets his agreed upon absence [I’ve read something about Danny taking Gracie to look at colleges sometime this season—I can’t believe time’s passed this fast—but I don’t know if that’s an onscreen plot or if it’s a reason for Danny not being in an episode sometime this season]). The only reason Ian (Adam) should be offscreen once he’s back on this season is if the CBS summer series he’s doing, Salvation, also created by Peter Lenkov, gets renewed for another season (the beginning & ending of their filming schedule coincides with the ending & beginning of H50’s filming schedule). If Adam & Kono are divorcing, I don’t know how they’ll explain where he is when Ian has to do show #2.
  5. I think the network executive character was perhaps based, at least a little, on this woman, Channing Dungey. But I don’t think she’s as big a bitch as Diana is/was. At least I haven’t heard anything about her being a bitch. She’s been the President of ABC Entertainment since 2016 & is still under age 50. As for Garry Marshall & Lily Tomlin, Garry passed on in July, 2016 at age 81. Lily is currently starring—with Jane Fonda, Martin Sheen & Sam Waterston—in the Netflix original series Grace & Frankie (she plays Frankie & has been nominated for an Emmy for the role for all 4 seasons of the show, so far). The show is a Netflix original, but is also available on YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play Movies & TV, & Vudu.
  6. I just watched the ep on the CBS app. I have a bit of “the creeping crud” (upper respiratory thing) right now & I fell asleep before it was on. I enjoyed it, but thought maybe Jim was a little stilted in his delivery, or something (shrugs); still, it was good to see him back with the gang. Murphy actually said she was glad smartphones (specifically—the cellphones with all the bells & whistles, including videography capability), not just cellphones in general (which didn’t originally have bells & whistles like videography capability & were just plain, boring telephones that could just—barely—make calls & take messages, hopefully), weren’t invented when she was drinking (implying there could’ve been worse, more embarrassing, videos of her taken unbeknownst to her & posted on the internet—which apparently didn’t exist/barely existed when she was drinking—if it had been around/been as big of a presence in most people’s lives as it is now when she was drinking). By the way... Tyne’s last name is spelled DALY. There are no I’s or E’s in it. For us old time TV watchers here, Tyne’s father was the late, fairly legendary actor James Daly (he co-starred with the late Chad Everett on the 1970’s CBS medical drama Medical Center); her brother is actor Tim (Timothy) Daly, from NBC’s Wings & the current CBS show Madam Secretary; she was also formerly married to actor/director Georg Stanford Brown of The Rookies & the original Roots & Roots: The Next Generations miniseries. I thought the shoutout to Tyne’s Cagney & Lacey role was funny too.
  7. 1 girl, age 5, who happens to have the same first name as I do, & 3 boys, Rafael, Leonardo & Romeo, ages 3 years to 5 months. He also has a now-adult daughter, Ireland (the 1-time thoughtless pig), with his first wife, Oscar-winning actress Kim Basinger.
  8. From E! Online: The Upcoming 7th Season of “Orange Is the New Black”, Due in 2019, Will Be Its Last
  9. I think they’re also posting this season to YouTube. I’ve seen the first 2 eps there anyway.
  10. Well, Bill’s been more of a stay at home parent than Jen. I think I remember she even voiced concerns Will would bond more with Bill, in early episodes after they brought him to Houston from China, because Jen’s job was so demanding (& I can’t remember how much time off she took for bonding once he was home). But when they got Zoey, it took her longer to bond with everyone (I think), especially since Jen was sick right after; but she really wanted nothing to do with Bill at all, especially when Jen had to leave India when she got sick & Bill was left (with Kate & Will) to take care of getting all the immigration/citizenship paperwork, exams, & other requirements taken care of so Zoey could enter the country.
  11. Plus, like in Texas I’m sure, they have to build/modify to whatever code will hopefully withstand hurricanes/tropical storms; especially if they live along the coast/waterfront.
  12. Lisa Edelstein (Laurie, the call girl/law student Sam slept with, then wanted to reform from being a call girl in S1) is currently playing the oncologist (cancer specialist) for the character played by Richard Schiff’s regular character (he’s the mentor to the title character, an autistic savant medical student/resident/official doctor) in the second, & current, season of ABC’s show The Good Doctor. I recommend the show if you haven’t seen it. It’s also available on Hulu, if you subscribe.
  13. I know that Roseanne’s never coming back. I guess I was just trying to explain to the original poster that they have retconned character deaths in primetime before (which they brought up, not me), so it would be possible to retcon this too, IF they wanted (which I know they don’t).
  14. They killed Patrick Duffy off of Dallas; then, when he decided he wanted to come back/his BFF, the late Larry Hagman convinced him to come back because Larry missed him being on set, they decided Patrick’s on again-off again wife in the show dreamed his character died (he was the victim of a hit & run meant for her, caused by her half-sister who Patrick’s character had become involved with & who was jealous of Bobby’s continued warm relationship with his ex, with whom he also shared an adopted son). So it’s entirely possible they could retcon Roseanne’s death. They also do it all the time in daytime dramas.
  15. If you wanna watch it (again), & you subscribe or wanna start a free month trial, it’s on Hulu now. It’s also on abc.com/the ABC (the US TV network, not the Australian) app. But for some unfathomable reason, they changed things (I can’t remember when) so that you can’t watch ABC shows on their site/app for 8 days after the network airs them (other networks let you watch the next day).
  16. It appears they may have retconned him (& Jackie’s son, Andy) out of this reboot of the reboot—but we could be surprised in a later ep. Jerry, Roseanne & Dan’s baby in the original series (written in because Roseanne actually got pregnant by the guy she married after Tom Arnold, I think it was; the guy who was apparently 1 of her bodyguards), was referred to in Ep 1 of the original reboot. He was said to be on a fishing boat somewhere (apparently he’s a fisherman, somehow, by profession—that’s what I got outta the comment anyway). As I remember, they’ve been ignoring Jackie’s son, Andy, who’s about the same age (but the Murphy Brown revival is also ignoring how Corky & Miles had a whirlwind “fall in love/get married, then end up divorced when the actor who played Miles left the show” storyline, because the show’s creator didn’t like it, & apparently didn’t create that storyline either; so retcons happen—there’s also the sudden disappearance of child/sibling characters in other TV shows).
  17. With all due respect, though I don’t know what age the character of Mark Healy (Conner-Healy?) is supposed to be either (you said around 8, but didn’t seem to know for sure, either), at least some children actually do have an idea of what their sexual orientation is, & what the concept of “sexual orientation” means, at a very young age (way before puberty & hormones kick in) like Mark’s supposed to be. And I mean in reality, not just fantasy/fiction, like on TV or in the movies. Also, they have those ideas on their own, not “fed” to them by their parents or others.
  18. Commercials is misspelled in the thread title, if it can still be fixed.
  19. The restaurant is supposed to have a “soft opening” in the 200th episode, according to comments already made in the press by the showrunner, Peter Lenkov. That should be sometime in the next few weeks; as of October 5th, 195 episodes have aired.
  20. Good grief at the costume—but it was funny how she almost lost the bow, flower, or whatever it was in her hair. And how long do you think it’s been since she actually played the violin, assuming 1 of her kids isn’t learning it & she might help them with a playing technique?
  21. I keep getting ads for an app called iTranslate, usually on YouTube. There’s 1 version of the ad (which I see most often) which involves a woman telling a Chinese man how to find the city bus. The woman has such a flat, monotonous voice I’m surprised they hired her for the ad.
  22. Charles Kimbrough’s real life wife, actress Beth Howland—who played the ditzy waitress Vera in the TV show Alice (&, at least based on their characters, who would’ve thought ditzy Vera & uptight-ish Jim Dial would be married in real life)—also died, of lung cancer, on New Year’s Eve (December 31), 2015; but her death wasn’t made public for something like 6 months afterwards, & I don’t think she really wanted a “fuss” made over her passing, as in no funeral, memorial, or other similar service/ceremony.
