  1. Something else new is the little clips, at the commercial breaks, from the White House reception for the honorees, where President Obama says something about 1 of the honorees. I'm a little surprised they actually mentioned The Eagles were also to be honored this year, but postponed until next year because of health issues involving Glenn Frey (if I remember right, he underwent intestinal surgery shortly before the ceremony was to be held); I'm equally surprised they still included Miranda Lambert (the recently ex-Mrs. Blake Shelton)'s performance of their hit Desperado. Other than that, I'm enjoying the show. I particularly liked the R2-D2 & C3-PO snarking each other bit from the George Lucas tribute (I've had a soft spot for those 2 droids & their snarky banter since the original Star Wars movie came out when I was in Junior High School--either 8th or 9th grade, depending on the release date). chitowngirl: Unless they changed something this year, the President doesn't present the Honorees with their Honors. The KCH ceremonies run over a whole weekend (at least Saturday & Sunday, if not also part of Friday) & the Honorees actually get the ribbon necklace emblematic of being an Honoree at a dinner on Saturday night of that weekend, held at the State Department & hosted by the current Secretary of State. So they already have their Honors by the time they get to the White House reception in their honor with the First Couple. The White House ceremony is held on Sunday afternoon/Sunday evening of the weekend, prior to the gala in tribute to the year's Honorees at the Kennedy Center's Opera House which becomes the TV special aired every year on CBS between Christmas & New Year's Eve. This year, President Obama attended the White House reception for the Honorees before the gala, but he missed the first half of the gala itself to make a nationally-televised speech on terrorism (the date of the gala was shortly after the San Bernardino shootings, which were deemed to be a terrorist attack). After making the speech, he attended the second half of the gala.
  2. Since nobody else did it yet, I Googled the screencap of Aaron Sorkin's uncredited cameo in TWW. He was just an apparently random guy in the outdoor crowd during the inauguration scenes--I think he was shown while Keb Mo performed whichever patriotic song he did; otherwise it was while Santos was being sworn in by the actress who replaced Glenn Close as Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court Evelyn Baker Lang after The Supremes. If I remember correctly, doing an uncredited cameo in each of his projects (like Alfred Hitchcock also did, I believe) is a "trademark" of Sorkin's. If I'm misremembering that, someone please feel free to correct me. Anyway... Here, finally, is the link to the picture. http://www.google.com/search?site=webhp&tbm=isch&source=hp&ei=X96BVtSiCMPzmQHJormABw&q=aaron+sorkin+west+wing+cameo&oq=aaron+sorkin+west+w&gs_l=mobile-gws-hp.1.1.0j0i24l2.3708.17225.0.18834.20.20.0.5.5.0.886.8013.2-4j10j3j1j2.20.0....0...1c.1.64.mobile-gws-hp..0.20.6464.1.e7Q67v5Ag64#imgrc=8nrG6tvF7kAAFM%3A And, now that you actually have the Complete Series DVDs there's something else you can watch, if you like: the hidden video "Easter Eggs" that are included in the DVDs for the first 6 seasons (nobody's ever found any on the 7th season DVDs; if they have, the instructions on finding the Egg & the content of it/them has never been posted to either TWW-related sites or sites which gather information on hidden Easter Eggs for all TV shows & movies). These are short, fun, videos that relate to some aspect of the show/characters, or cast members, which are hidden on DVDs--some sets/individual discs in a set only have 1 Easter Egg through the whole thing; other sets/individual discs in a set contain multiple Easter Eggs. You basically have to luck into them initially, unless you follow the show/movie involved on a site like this & someone else has already found them & been kind enough to post the instructions on which disc(s) has (have) the Easter Egg(s) & how you navigate through the disc(s) involved to reach the Easter Egg(s). At this link--in the 2nd comment on the page--is a season-by-season list of the disc(s) on which you can find the Egg(s) for that season, how you navigate to the Egg(s) in the disc(s), & a short description of the content of the Easter Egg(s). There is 1 Easter Egg in each of Seasons 1-3 & 5-6; there are 2 Easter Eggs, 1 each on 2 separate discs, in Season 4. http://www.tv.com/shows/the-west-wing/forums/dvd-extras-and-commentaries-296-253996/
  3. From EW.com (Entertainment Weekly magazine's website): Project Runway's Ashley Nell Tipton Happy with the Response to Her Plus-Sized Collection http://www.ew.com/article/2015/12/28/project-runway-winner-ashley-nell-tipton-plus-size-collection
  4. It's scheduled to premiere in the US on NBC, on Thursday, January 28th at 8PM Eastern/7PM Central Time. At least it won't conflict with Rob Lowe's other show. Starting January 5th, The Grinder will air on Fox on Tuesdays at 9:30PM Eastern/8:30PM Central, after Brooklyn Nine Nine. http://m.nbc.com/you-me-and-the-apocalypse I wish BBC America would rerun Torchwood from the beginning again.
  5. It was called The Worst Cooks in America, as usual, but I think they added Celebrity Edition to the title. Try looking for it under the regular title with Celebrity Edition added to it.
  6. Former Harlem Globetrotters Star Meadowlark Lemon Dead at 83. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/12/29/sports/basketball/meadowlark-lemon-harlem-globetrotter-who-played-basketball-and-pranks-with-virtuosity-dies-at-83.html?partner=rss&emc=rss&smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0&referer=
  7. Considering Rob Lowe knew Martin the longest at that point (or was 1 of the few in the cast who already knew him), since he grew up living near the Sheen/Estevez family & was friends particularly with Charlie & Emilio, I'm surprised he didn't crack up. A few times when Sam smiled in the scene, I thought he was gonna bust a gut but he managed to hold it in.
  8. I've seen it on stations which air the quote in full & which air it with "objectionable" (more adult) words silenced. Your explanation makes sense, thank you. And it is a fairly ridiculous thing to say--whether the guy trying to get the girl(s) is saying it or Jack is (but I still think it's more ridiculous coming from Jack, since the guy he's quoting is a sleaze). Speaking of "silenced" words, there was an episode on WE's binge-a-thon last night where Abbie's use of the word "vagina" was deleted from the audio track, for heaven's sake. I think it was in the ep where the guy who was (mostly) pretending to be mentally ill to get close to a girl who really was mentally ill was believed to have raped & murdered her, but it turned out the sex was consensual--I think--& he killed her at her request because she was afraid of what would happen to her when, like, her parents died. I know it was that word because the same ep aired with the word intact on 1 of the other channels I get which carries the Mothership show (either TNT, Ion, or WGNAmerica... my cable provider--Comcast/Xfinity--carries Sundance Channel here, but it doesn't seem to be in whatever package we're currently paying for, at least not at the moment... they change what channels are in what packages a lot though, so maybe we'll get it sometime).

  10. Neither Bill nor Jen has made any kind of public statement on the reason for Zoey's haircut/new hairstyle. But in the original season preview video that was released, Zoey's hair was in her previous style (which reminds me of "Dora the Explorer"'s hairstyle) in some of the included scenes & in her new "pixie cut" style in others. Perhaps, in that case, the change in hairstyle will be shown & explained during the upcoming season. But I have no real idea on that. At any rate, whatever way Zoey, or her parents, want to style her hair is fine with me. And I think it's strictly their decision.
  11. Every time I watch the ep where they're trying to locate, then incarcerate, the guy with HIV (or maybe it's full-blown AIDS) who's going around having unprotected sex with women & not bothering to inform them they could contract HIV/AIDS from him as a result (& at least 1 female character in the ep did), I laugh at the singsong-y (that's how it sounds to me) way Sam Waterston delivered the lines where he was telling the Judges on the Appeals Court what the guy said to the girls to convince them into having unprotected sex with him ("Hey, Baby, I don't use... It's better..."), & why it's so imperative to get him off the streets. Then I wonder why Waterston chose that line delivery, as opposed to a more "normal/serious" sounding delivery. Considering the seriousness of the issue, & McCoy even agrees it is serious, the way that set of lines was delivered always surprises me.
  12. She's actually still doing movies. She was doing 1, I think called Mother's Day, filmed in Atlanta & Co-Starring Jennifer Aniston (who married Justin Theroux while/just before filming her part), in the midst of the divorce from Ben Affleck news, in fact.
  13. To be fair, Kelly Clarkson's special was a rebroadcast & I think most viewers knew it; Adele's special was a first-run this year, though it also was rebroadcast on December 23rd. Kelly Clarkson's special first aired, like, last year (or in whichever year she released her Christmas CD, Wrapped in Red).
  14. William Guest, Cousin of Singer Gladys Knight & Former Member of Gladys Knight & the Pips, Dead at 74. http://www.people.com/article/william-guest-of-gladys-knight-and-the-pips-dies-74
  15. Yeah. It started airing at/toward the end of September (So it ended in, like, late October or early November). The discussion thread's in the Past Seasons section at the top of all the other threads you see after clicking on the show title.
  16. Jed's speech to the Conservative talkradio host (followed by Sam stealing the crab puff off of her plate--which I loved) was in The Midterms. That was Ep 3 of Season 2 (right after the 2-part ep about the assassination attempt on Bartlet & his entourage at the Newseum's original location in Rosslyn, VA). The Conservative talkradio host was Dr. Jenna Jacobs, played by actress Claire Yarlett. Her character was modeled on real-life Conservative talkradio host Dr. Laura Schlesinger (& neither Dr. Jenna's nor the real Dr. Laura's PhD's are/were in psychology or any other subject appropriate for someone whose profession is giving advice to people on a talkradio show). If I remember correctly, Jed's diatribe at Dr. Jenna was supposed to have been based on something that really happened to Dr. Laura; then it was said to have been based on some Email which was being circulated at the time; then, I think, 1 or both explanations were debunked. But I still love that smackdown anyway, & Sam stealing the crab puff, after Jed publicly humiliates her in front of her colleagues, is the icing on the cake for me. Melancholy: At 1 point when you were quoting the dialogue in your post, you wrote--or your spellcheck wrote--TARTLET instead of BARTLET. Just FYI. It made me laugh.
  17. It appears Netflix has renewed their license to stream the show. At least according to a Tweet I got on my Twitter, earlier today, as a Retweet. https://mobile.twitter.com/tsukikage85/status/680401066618413056?p=v
  18. Bill Tweeted another pic this morning. It's Will & Zoey sitting, BOTH of them HAPPILY, on Santa's lap this year--though I think Santa's actually their Grandbaba on Jen's side. Zoey's NOT afraid of Santa anymore! https://mobile.twitter.com/ReallyBillKlein/status/680371149499416577?p=v
  19. If anyone's still up that late tonight/that early in the morning, TNT's airing Eps 419-422, from 1-5AM Eastern/12 Midnight-4AM Central. 1AM Eastern: Ep 419--After Five-0 & Grover's SWAT team are called to a building on what proves to be a false crime deal report, Steve & Danny are trapped when the building collapses. 2AM Eastern: Ep 420--The murder of a pool cleaner leads Five-0 to a group of local college students who have been radicalized & are planning a jihad. 3AM Eastern: Ep 421--Catherine goes to Afghanistan to look for the son of a local family, who aided her while she was injured on a tour of duty in the area, after the son is apparently taken by the Taliban; Steve is almost beheaded by the Taliban while trying to help Catherine; when Steve is rescued by the military (presumably by fellow SEALs), instead of returning to the States with him Catherine remains in Afghanistan to continue looking for her friends' son & "to find herself"... breaking Steve's heart. 4AM Eastern: Ep 422--In the S4 Finale, Wo Fat escapes from the SuperMax prison on the Mainland where he's being detained; Grover is forced to assist teenage computer hacker Ian Wright in nefarious doings after Wright comes out of hiding (the Governor tasked Steve & Grover with serving an arrest warrant on him, for unpaid parking tickets, in a previous ep--a job which was unsuccessful & resulted in Wright causing all kinds of internet mayhem before going into hiding) & he kidnaps Grover's teenage daughter, Samantha, to ensure his assistance with Wright's plan. As a result of his complicity, Grover is removed as head of HPD's SWAT team; since he's now out of a job, Steve asks him to join Five-0. Also... There's *no* H50 tonight (CBS is choosing to air 2 eps of Blue Bloods instead). But *tomorrow night*, at 8PM Eastern/7PM Central Time, CBS is repeating the S5 ep where Joe White--now a private security consultant--helps Five-0 with a prisoner transfer which results in the man's kidnaping & the weaponization of bees with a highly lethal flu strain; the bees are then supposed to be released to cause harm to the public & Joe & Five-0 must contain/destroy them before that can happen.
  20. According to the linked article, the S3 DVDs will be released in the US on March 1st. http://tvshowsondvd.com/n/21852
  21. Since we're talking about him... Johnny Depp was just named 1 of the most overpaid actors (#1 on the list) by Forbes magazine. http://www.forbes.com/sites/natalierobehmed/2015/12/22/hollywoods-most-overpaid-actors-of-2015-johnny-depp-leads-denzel-washington-will-ferrell/
  22. I don't know if there are multiple previews out for the new season or not, but I keep seeing the same 1. That gives *no* indication of which hotel Zoey's birthday party was held at *or* the level of "star" excellence it's classified as being at (though I really wouldn't expect Bill & Jen to hold their kids' parties, or their own, at a local Motel 6 or no-name fleabag). I also haven't seen any shots of Zoey's picture on the hotel marquee in any previews. And I've watched the only 1 that's posted on YouTube (the original & only 1 I saw, which makes no specific references to, or distinctions about, the birthday party hotel, nor does it show Zoey's pic on their marquee), very carefully, multiple times, including at least twice last night. As for the 14-page "instruction manual" for Zoey's farm-themed birthday party, I just look at that as Jen being overly prepared/organized, 1 of those people who likes to make lists for everything, etc. (my Dad's also a doctor & he's also like this), & wanting everything to be as perfect as possible for her new daughter's first American birthday party (which I honestly don't fault her for). As I remember, she also had an "instruction manual" for at least Will's zoo party. I remember Nainai Judy commenting on Jen's party "instruction manual" at least once. The way I look at it, Bill & Jen went through a lot--physically & emotionally--& waited a long time to become parents to these 2 beautiful kids, who seem to have been meant to be Bill & Jen's kids even with the original cultural & other differences between them. If they have the finances to be able to give them amazing birthday parties (& other life experiences/the best of everything, or close to it, presumably within what they think is reasonable), who am I to judge them for it? Will & Zoey are *Bill & Jen's* kids, *not mine*. How they choose to indulge (or not) their kids is up to them, the kids, & anyone else concerned who's actually in their family. It's not up to me.
  23. First off, apologies... My musical tastes run more to what used to be called "soft" or "light" rock, now more likely to be categorized under "Traditional Pop Vocals", vs. a good chunk of the songs I'm seeing in the posts (though I also do like stuff outside the "Traditional Pop" genre, including some songs named here). The Captain & Tennille did 2 different versions (& I don't mean "studio" vs. "live"--they never did a live album) of their song Gentle Stranger, on their 1st album, in 1975 (I think), then on their final "major" album in 1980. Apparently the newer version was done the way Toni Tennille always envisioned it sounding (though there wasn't an issue of "fast" vs. "slow"; it was always a "slow" song--the 2nd version was more of a redo on the arrangement... & I like it better than the original). Also, in the 1980's, Melissa Manchester recorded her song Come in From the Rain (coincidentally also done, in the 1970's by Captain & Tennille) twice. Again, this wasn't a "live" vs. "studio" version thing; both versions were "studio" versions & Melissa has also never released a "live" album/CD... Though she has released at least 1 song that was recorded live. In 1996, Barry Manilow recorded Never My Love on his Summer of '78 CD (covers of songs popular in 1978). In 2006, his medley of Never My Love & I Swear appeared on a bonus disc that came with his CD The Greatest Songs of the Sixties if you bought that CD from QVC. And in 2007, Barry Manilow released a CD called The Greatest Songs of the Seventies. The 1st 12 tracks were covers of other artists' songs from the 1970's; the last 6 tracks were new, acoustic versions of songs Manilow himself made famous in the 1970's (a deluxe version of this CD included additional new acoustic versions of Manilow's 1970's hits). I saw Hold On by Wilson Phillips mentioned under a category named something like "Music to Listen to While On Hold" (sorry if I got that name wrong). It's actually being used in a new Progressive Insurance commercial with that premise. Carnie Wilson--1 of the Wilsons in the group--is on hold with her insurance company, trying to report an accident or something, & the hold music (which we hear) ends up being her group's song Hold On. While she's listening Progressive's spokescharacter, Flo, ends up on the scene & tells her--of course--if she had Progressive she wouldn't have to put up with being on hold because (& she lists why); &--again, of course--puns are made about the song in that situation & lyrics are spoken &/or sung.
  24. Yeah... definitely seems like it anyway. In fact, whenever it happens, Tony's singing at Gaga's wedding to Chicago Fire actor Taylor Kinney--that was the first detail/1 of the first details they settled, as far as their wedding arrangements are concerned, after they got engaged. Also, on the recent Sinatra 100 special The Grammys aired on CBS, when Gaga tossed the fedora she wore into the audience during her show finale performance of New York, New York, she tossed it to Tony--or he caught it, anyway (& I don't think it was an accident that *he* caught it).
