S06.E08: He Said, She Said
Domestic Assassin replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Brooklyn Nine-Nine
In the beginning, it wasn't used against everyone IIRC. There was quite a bit of criticism in the first season for things like this and especially the Boyle creeping on Rosa plots. What I really admire about Brooklyn Nine-Nine is that instead of getting defensive, calling critics over-sensitive PC snowflakes and doubling down, they actually heard the criticism and course corrected. I don't think it was really necessary for them to bring it up in this episode. -
Party of One: Unpopular TV Opinions
Domestic Assassin replied to mstaken's topic in Everything Else TV
This. The thing that annoys me most about all the "we were on a break" bs is that it overshadows all Ross's controlling red-flag behavior before this incident so that all anyone focuses on is the debate over the "break". -

That's what I thought at first, but when I re-watched the episode I saw that after everyone left and Schneider took the bottle out and started at it, it looks like the bottle was half empty. -

This is an interesting interview with Todd Grinnell about his arc this season. -

In Memoriam: Entertainment Industry Celebrity Deaths
Domestic Assassin replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
John Falsey, co-creator of "St. Elsewhere", "Northern Exposure" and "I'll Fly Away", died at 67 from head injuries from a fall in his home. I loved so much of his work. -
Season Three and Beyond: FFwSB

I think that was Bellamy Young. (I thought it was Julianne Moore at first too). -
Tusk to Tchaikovsky: Re-watching the Americans
Domestic Assassin replied to sistermagpie's topic in The Americans [V]
IIRC Philip was going to est at the start of the Kimmy arc, though still under the guise of being there for Stan. -

Despite Gabriel's claim in season 5 that he never lied to Philip or Elizabeth, I always read this as a lie. It never fit with the story as it was told in season one, and the way he said it in that conversation in that episode came across as very manipulative. -
Is HBO Making A Deadwood Movie? Maybably!
Domestic Assassin replied to Primetimer's topic in Deadwood [V]
Any chance Jim Beaver (Ellsworth) will be back? If they can bring back Garret Dillahunt in another role, why not? Also, any chance Garret Dillahunt will be back (or was he just hanging around the set)? -
I'm pretty sure (from the credit on IMDb) Damon was the guy who walked up to Chidi and asked him if he wanted to talk to God. It's fitting, since that scene was a shout out to a story told in season 3 episode 3 of Damon Lindelof's The Leftovers.

TV Tropes: Love 'em or Loathe 'em
Domestic Assassin replied to galax-arena's topic in Everything Else TV
It wasn't a common TV trope at the time. -
One thing I've been noticing on re-watch is that their disguises occasionally included some type of feature like a birthmark or scar or bruise. I had never really noticed that before this episode. Maybe it was intended to distract people from other features of their faces?

He did have a partner who had been sent home. I don't recall why, but I think part of it was they didn't get along.

According to Gold Derby, they've submitted their episodes. Keri Russell is submitting "The Summit", and Matthew Rhys is submitting "START". I like both of these choices.
-
I like The Summit for Keri Russell. Probably START for Matthew Rhys, but The Great Patriotic War would be a good option too. I'm sad that Chris Long wasn't nominated for directing START. Bummed about Noah Emmerich too.

Tusk to Tchaikovsky: Re-watching the Americans
Domestic Assassin replied to sistermagpie's topic in The Americans [V]
There is a deleted scene on the DVD sort of like this. Elizabeth and Paige get in the car to go to the drugstore, and Elizabeth asks her what she thinks of the new boy who moved in. Paige says Matthew is 15 and would never like her, since even boys her age don't like her. Elizabeth says something like she's sure that isn't true, and launches into a speech about how she's sure Paige and Henry are going to be able to handle anything because she's raising them to be strong, tough and confident, and Paige responds that she isn't any of those things. So yeah, Paige's adolescence and also Elizabeth's desire to toughen her up were part of the focus from the beginning. -
This is a very different situation than Jared's parents though. Jared's parents had been dead for quite some time before the FBI even suspected that they were spies, while the Jenningses are still alive and fugitives.
