  1. I liked Abbott Elementary well enough, but nothing kills a show faster for me than "will they/won't they" bullshit. I held out as long as I could stand, finally gave up some time in season two.
  2. RIP Wilhelmina Wiggins Fernandez. I'm not an opera person, but "Diva" was one of my favorite movies. https://www.inquirer.com/obituaries/wilhelmenia-wiggins-fernandez-diva-obituary-20240206.html
  3. I'm also glad that they directed condolences to his friends. I hesitate to say this. I don't want it to come out wrong. I'm certain that they all had a special bond forged through their work together and the experience of being basically the '90s TV version of The Beatles and I don't want to minimize that, but the show ended twenty years ago and other than the occasional reunion their lives moved on. Something about all this has reminded me of when Gene Wilder died and so many people on social media said things like "Well at least he's with Gilda Radner again" - essentially erasing his widow to whom he'd been married for around 25 years at the time he died. I guess I just appreciate that they acknowledge that they were not the most important people in his life in 2023.
  4. RIP Piper Laurie https://www.indiewire.com/news/obituary/piper-laurie-dead-1234916783/
  5. I was thinking that (like Devery Jacobs) Ethan Hawke was playing a character a decade or so younger than himself. Maybe because the thought of 30-something Rick dating a teenage Cookie adds a whole other layer of ick that I don't think was intended. Or maybe that's just me. I also never really liked Ethan Hawke before. Don't remember why. But I was really impressed with him here.
  6. I might be wrong, but I thought Elora was under the impression that her father was the man who died in the accident with Cookie. It seemed like she didn't just learn her father's name a few episodes ago, but that he was actually alive (and white).
  7. Damnit, this one hurts. I love this version of The Weight.
  8. This is so sad! Have to find if The In-Laws (possibly the funniest movie ever made) is streaming somewhere. SERPENTINE!
  9. RIP George Winston. 😢 https://apnews.com/article/george-winston-dead-pianist-69b395ec7601fa052892b3ddb287c5d1
  10. Am I the only one a little disturbed by Paul dating his doctor? That's unethical for a reason! I wouldn't mind it so much as a story if anyone would just acknowledge that's a little messed up. I mean, I know this show kind of revels in being unethical, but with Jimmy they at least acknowledge it to some extent.
  11. Shrinking season 2 has been confirmed! https://www.indiewire.com/2023/03/shrinking-renewed-for-season-2-at-apple-tv-1234817849/
  12. Nothing has been announced, although Bill Lawrence tweeted they're working on season 2.
  13. I remember a tweet from the creator of BoJack Horseman that the original pitch for the show was "You start out thinking it's Family Guy, but it's really Mad Men."
  14. I'm really glad Veronica Falcón is back! Really liked that character, wasn't sure she'd be back.
  15. That's good to know. Thank you! I'll give it a shot.
  16. The internet has convinced me that I need to watch this episode. I haven't been spoiled (and don't want to be spoiled). Since it's only the 3rd episode, last night I decided to start with the first episode and I really hated it. Zombies just aren't my thing. Now I can't decide if I should just skip the 2nd episode, or give up altogether. Is this a case where this episode is vastly different from the rest of the series?
  17. My unpopular opinion is that I LOVED the St. Elsewhere ending. I wonder how large the Tommy Westphall Universe is at this point?
  18. Here's an interview with Nick Mohammed you might be interested in. He says he was told early on in season one that the character may go in this direction, and an interesting bit on Nate's motives in the gala episode in light of the direction the story was going. https://www.vulture.com/article/nick-mohammed-ted-lasso-season-2-nate-interview.html
  19. Not sure if sports celebrities count, but sad to hear that Pele has died. He's the only soccer player I knew by name. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/29/football/brazil-pele-soccer-died-intl-latam-spt/index.html
  20. Angelo Badalamenti died yesterday. I always loved the Twin Peaks music. 😢 https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/angelo-badalamenti-dead-david-lynch-composer-blue-velvet-1235280660/
  21. RIP Angela Lansbury 😢 https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/celebrity/angela-lansbury-murder-wrote-beauty-beast-star-dies-96-rcna42421
  22. I have been trying to remember the title of this series for around 25 years now! I started thinking it never really existed and I just dreamed it or something. (And of course, it's such an obvious title!). Not what I was expecting to get a resolution for on a random Saturday morning. Anyway, thank you!
  23. Must be a generational thing. My parents had a pair of them. I always associated them with being sick, because that's when they were used in my childhood. Surprised to see they're still making them. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/s/breakfast-in-bed-tray
