  1. No nomination for Jeremy Strong in Succession is a travesty. And no nominations at all for Watchmen is ridiculous. The GGs become more of a farce each year. At least the Critic's Choice nominations, also out today, got those nominations right.
  2. He's not dead; at least not yet. We already know that the smarmy Senator wants Dr. Manhattan's powers transferred to him. It was then explained by Cal/Jon in the episode. Calhattan: They're already here. The 7th Kavalry. They're in a truck parked across the street. On the back of the truck is a tacyonic cannon which they will use to involuntarily teleport me and then destroy me. So, he's been teleported but not yet destroyed.
  3. No mention of Chelsea or Naomie in that article. Wonder if they're out?
  4. I can remember all the way back to when this show was a comedy.
  5. It seems that's the assumption the viewing audience is supposed to make. I think it stinks that we didn't get to see the conversation between Midge and Benjamin, in last season's final episode. I liked the USO Show portion of this episode. The rest of it seemed somewhat strained to me. I honestly don't care at all about Joel's life. Also, I don't really buy that Sophie Lennon is that desperate to secure Susie as a manager. It's always a pleasure to see Luke Kirby as Lenny Bruce, though I suspect he may only pop up again toward the season's end, based on his guest star billing. Meanwhile, Jane Lynch was named with the regular cast, so I'm assuming she'll be in most of the episodes.
  6. Sheldon: "My mom is on Vulcan." Billy: "My mom is on Valium." I'm dead. 🤣
  7. I wasn't aware that there were companion books to the series. Holiday gifts! https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/566686/the-crown-the-official-companion-volume-2-by-robert-lacey/?ref=PRHEE9C1776C5&aid=42136&linkid=PRHEE9C1776C5&pdivflag=1
  8. Awesome takes on the Succession theme. The Mario one had me 🤣 'Succession' and the Theme Song That Launched 100 Memes
  9. How quaint. Claudia Jean 'C.J.' Cregg: "You guys are like Butch and Sundance peering over the edge of a cliff to the boulder-filled rapids 300 feet below, thinking you better not jump 'cause there's a chance you might drown. The President has this disease and has been lying about it, and you guys are worried that the polling might make us look bad? It's the fall that's gonna kill ya."
  10. It would seem that the Mexican/Sushi restaurant with which Craig is involved is a hit. The Best Restaurants in Charleston Right Now It's the very first restaurant on the list, although the list seems to be organized from newest to longest established. It doesn't appear to be a ranking.
  11. Faithe Herman (Annie) will be playing young Angela in Sunday's upcoming Watchmen episode, "An Almost Religious Awe" on HBO. When I saw the trailer following Ep. 6, I actually yelled out, "It's Annie!" 😄
  12. I think you're actually referring to the magnificent African-American contralto Marian Anderson here, and not to Marion Davies, white actress and mistress of William Randolph Hearst.
  13. Not exactly a restaurant of one of the cheftestants, but interesting if you're in the Philadelphia area. Top Chef Quickfire, new eatery by Bravo, opening in Comcast Center From the article: "Bravo and Philly-based Spectra, the food services and hospitality company, are joining together to open an eatery called Top Chef Quickfire in the Comcast Center. The new concept will serve fans of "Top Chef" items inspired by dishes from past cheftestants. Philly's Eddie Konrad, the lovable "Eddie Money" from Season 16, has been consulting on menu development."
  14. The camera shot looking down the mass grave at the row of seemingly never-ending, child-sized caskets was overwhelming. The extended manner in which it was written that Wilson had tried to convince the Queen that she, herself should go to Aberfan and the many days until she finally decided to make the trip was reminiscent of
  15. I agree with you, and while I'm sure this is an unpopular opinion, I really don't care for HBC in the role either. Full disclosure: I've never really been a fan of Helena Bonham Carter, but aside from that, HBC's just way too old for the role, at least at this point. Princess Margaret was only 35 at the time of her visit to D.C. HBC is 53 and IMO looks her age. Also, this may sound shallow, but it's also the truth: Part of Margaret's charm was her beauty. Just my opinion, but HBC, neither now nor when she was 35, is enough of a beauty to effectively portray Margaret's charms. And, like a few others, I think her performance is OTT. More than any of the other actors, the one I miss the most is Vanessa Kirby. I definitely wasn't expecting that to be the case.
  16. I don't think that Margaret was asking just to be the Crown's representative at minor public events. Her meeting with LBJ was a unique circumstance. Margaret got to meet with both the Head of State and the Head of Government for the United States in LBJ, which was requested by both the Head of Government (Wilson) and the Head of State for the U.K. (The Queen) for an urgent political purpose. That is heady stuff. The likelihood of another such occurrence would most likely be slim to none, but that level of responsibility is what Margaret was asking for. It would be difficult for her to be satisfied with ribbon cuttings and the like following this. Philip was absolutely correct in his advice to Elizabeth.
  17. Indeed, it was. It has me wondering if those were the exact words spoken by Quern Elizabeth at the exhibit's actual opening. (I'm too lazy to search for it right now as I'm ready to watch Ep.3 but wanted to comment here before I forget which episode is which!) #BingeWatchIssues The conversation that followed between Philip and the traitor made me glad that I had just re-watched the final episode of S2 yesterday. So far, I'm pleased with the re-casting across the board. Tobias Menzies is particularly good.
  18. What the writers need to stop doing immediately is having Dr. Delia announce medical conditions of her young patients. ("He has an undescended testicle.") In an earlier episode, while working the snack stand at the soccer game, she berated one of her patients in front of the other children about eating some fatty food because he had high triglycerides. It's not funny, it's cringe-worthy and unethical. I love this show but this definitely wasn't its finest episode.
  19. I love seeing Wade and his daughers. I also enjoy Ben and Michelle, both as Wade's friends and also in their interactions with their own children. IMO, the problem characters are Forrest and Delia. They're written more as caricatures than as real people. I think both of them could be salvaged if the writers dial it back a bit. I hope they do.
  20. You'll love this from THR. How Jane Fonda's Red Coat Has Become a Protesting Style Staple
  21. I watched this mini-series only because of the glorious Helen Mirren and even she is having a hard time rising above the positively awful writing here. The rest of the cast members, some good in other projects, aren't as successful. The costumes and sets are well done, so there was obviously some money behind this but overall, I consider it a failed project. I'm honestly somewhat surprised that HBO allowed itself to be attached to it. It's not a good sign when you find yourself happy to discover that there's only one episode left. As I've stuck it out though the first three, I'll watch the finale, but I'm not expecting much.
  22. Teaser trailer #2. Per Deadline, series will have 9 episodes, all directed and co-written by Paolo Sorrentino. https://deadline.com/video/the-new-pope-trailer-john-malkovich-jude-law-the-young-pope-hbo/
  23. Best Picture contenders can now be streamed by Academy voters. Oscars: Academy Expands Streaming Platform to Include Best Picture Contenders From the article: "Members of AMPAS received a notice from the Academy on Wednesday, noting the expansion now includes best picture hopefuls. Voters were already able to stream documentaries, animated films and shorts on the Academy’s members-only viewing site."
  24. Lots of spoiler-ish comments from Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Aimee Garcia and D.B. Woodside in this interview, both for the AU episode they're shooting here and for the final season.
