  1. Oh my goodness, we JUST saw Orson Bean in the current season of Grace and Frankie as Bruno, who almost married Joan Margaret to save her from being deported. What horrible circumstances and his poor wife--actress Alley Mills, the mom on The Wonder Years--was with him and witnessed the fatal accident. 😔 VETERAN ACTOR ORSON BEAN, 91, STRUCK AND KILLED BY VEHICLE IN VENICE, CALIFORNIA
  2. For anyone interested in coverage of Sunday night's BAFTA Awards: How to watch the EE British Academy Film Awards 17.00 (5 p.m.) GMT is 12:00 Noon Eastern. I checked the Sunday schedule for BBC America and although the BAFTA site says it's being broadcast live, BBCA's schedule shows it airing at 9:10 p.m.-11:40 p.m. Eastern.
  3. There's definitely a voting bias. Case in point: Alfre Woodard was absolutely robbed of a nomination for Clemency. Granted, I adore her and think she merits a nomination every time she steps on a film set but this year's omission is a travesty. That she has only one career Oscar nomination--and that was 36 years ago--is unthinkable for an actress of her caliber. And I completely agree that Parasite could win for Best Picture. Although 1917 is probably the favorite, I don't think it's a given as the winner. I think Parasite's a lock for Best Foreign Language Film and I also think Bong Joon Ho will be named Best Director. As always, JMO. Edited to add: The DGAs are tomorrow night. Should be very interesting!
  4. Oscars: Elton John, Cynthia Erivo, Idina Menzel, Chrissy Metz and Randy Newman to Perform at Ceremony
  5. I'm not giving up on the show just yet but this episode was just a bit too "out there" for my taste. I agree with @TexasGal that it feels as if I'm watching a Wes Anderson film. 😏 Why is he referred to by the other Cardinals as Sir John and not as Cardinal Brannox? I thought for a while there that he might not even be a Cardinal--technically one doesn't have to be a Cardinal to be named Pope--but then one of them mentioned that he was unable to make it to the previous conclave because of his ailing parents. The train scene was weird too. We see the Cardinals in what seemed to be a private cabin having what must certainly be a confidential conversation. I assumed it was a completely separate Papal car. Then the shot pans out and there's not even a closed door between the Cardinals and the general public. WTH?
  6. JMO, but I think both Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and Parasite are still in the running. Also, it's always said that a film can't win Best Picture if it hasn't been nominated for editing too. Of those 3 only Parasite fits the parameter.
  7. I am a faithful watcher of The Crown and the fact that this new cast for S3 won the Drama Series Ensemble award when the Claire Foy/Matt Smith/Vanessa Kirby led cast never won is a travesty.
  8. What an amazing body of work in DeNiro's life achievement montage! So many great films and always a terrific performance.
  9. First two SAG awards of the night, announced from the Red Carpet (which is, BTW, actually silver) are for Stunt Ensemble: Film: Endgame TV: Game of Thrones
  10. Here's a You Tube link to the SAG Red Carpet. Free of charge, no sign-up necessary. 2020 SAG Awards® | Red Carpet Pre-Show | Live Stream
  11. This is my favorite episode of S6 so far. I liked all the story lines and pairings. I've said this here in the past but as much as I've always loved Martin Sheen in just about everything he's ever done, he is completely lost in his scenes with Sam Waterston, which unfortunately, make up the bulk of his role as Robert. But put him in a scene with Lily Tomlin and the Sheen I've always loved returns. Past experience, I guess but they just seem so comfortable together. It's an absolute pleasure to watch. I think they bring out the best in each other. This is perhaps a UO, but I often think Lily's portrayal of Frankie is something of a caricature, but playing off Martin Sheen, she seems very real. JMO, of course. I didn't care all that much for Nick in past seasons, but that character has definitely grown on me.
  12. @TVFan17 Thank you! I was just about to search where I might find Red Carpet coverage and thought that maybe I should check here first. Glad I did. ☺️
  13. I agree with you on Phoenix and Pitt. I think Renee Zellweger's a lock also. The only acting category where we might see an upset--but even here chances are low, because Laura Dern has this just about locked down--is Supporting Actress.
  14. My mental image of this had me laughing so hard that I need to rewatch that part of the episode because I didn't hear the next set of dialogue.
  15. Eh. I find social media influencers way more annoying.
  16. I don't get her "Bond Girl" reference here. Because Thomas is in a tux? Are we supposed to recognize the other two people in the photo? Are they Bravolebrities? I don't watch any of the other reality shows on Bravo.
  17. And she's working for Kevin's maternal grandfather. 😄
  18. Seriously. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, until he used Kristen Bell to take a few shots at his ex-wife.
  19. Full disclosure: I hold that since about the late-'80s, his acting has been too.
  20. Who knows? All bets are off with this disaster of a show.
  21. As Jean Smart said in her acceptance speech, the critics HAVE to see ALL the films and shows. That doesn't happen with the voting bodies for the other awards.
  22. Jeremy Strong's nomination was the main reason I was watching this train wreck. The Critics got this one right. That he's not nominated for a SAG award is a travesty. I'm really pleased for him. I'm delighted that Regina King won here also. And she's not nominated for a SAG award either. SMH.
