  1. Terrific episode. This was the funniest half hour of television I have seen in a very long time!
  2. Someone please tell me that I'm not the only American, with little to no knowledge of the British education system, who immediately read this and thought, "Ah, O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s!" I appreciate the information given here.
  3. As soon as she did it, I yelled at the television, "Dear Lord, don't egg him on!" I'm sure all of us here knew what would be coming next. /eyeroll
  4. I wasn't bothered by Albert's melancholy. I thought it appropriate. For the 19th century, that was quite an awful burden for him to be carrying alone. I hated Leopold even more, seeing how deeply Albert was affected. I'm so glad he decided to share his burden with Victoria even though he had been instructed not to do so. That was such a beautiful scene between the two of them. When I saw them eating the little birds, I immediately said "ortolon" remembering the instruction scene from Gigi as was mentioned upthread. Unpopular opinion: I like the downstairs plot line and I especially like Skeritt as a character. I'm even rooting for Skercatelli!
  5. I definitely have the opposite opinion here. I saw Meryl Streep (and Tom Hanks too) instead of Kay Graham (and Ben Bradlee.) Couldn't get past it in either case. And I am by no means a hater of MS or of TH. IMO, Meryl Streep got the nomination that should have been given to Jessica Chastain who was magnificent in "Molly's Game."
  6. I still believe that it's only Chloe to whom Lucifer can't show his devil face; the same way he's physically vulnerable in her presence. Since he tried to show Chloe his true nature, he hasn't tried to use his devil face on anyone else. He has it in his mind that it was somehow taken from him in the desert, but I'm still not convinced that's the case. The return of his wings, I have no answer for. I thought the same thing at first, but it was a different actor, not Greg Kinnear.
  7. I was very surprised that April the giraffe was a TS. I swear the live video feed of the pregnant giraffe was everywhere on my FB feed for MONTHS! It also surprised me that l'chaim was a TS. Most Jeopardy! contestants seem to have fairly decent knowledge of Broadway musicals. Hello, Fiddler on the Roof! "To life, to life, l'chaim. L'chaim, l'chaim, to life." No, just me? Okay.
  8. Some of Shep's on-screen interactions with Craig on SC could be considered abusive. It didn't work out too well the last time an evening with Shep was auctioned off.
  9. I love Allison Janney, think she's terrific in every role she touches and am thrilled that she's finally received an Oscar nomination. That said, I'm still hoping that Laurie Metcalf can somehow still pull out a win for her beautiful turn in Lady Bird. I hate that Academy voters always seem to go for the over the top performance over the more nuanced one. IMO, Gary Oldman's Churchill performance falls into the OTT category too. He's been wonderful in SO many other roles but it seems that one has to "pull out all the stops" to finally win an Oscar. In the case of the Churchill character, it just seems to me that we've very recently seen a brilliant, much more pulled back performance, albeit small screen vs big screen, with John Lithgow's turn as Churchill in The Crown, which I much preferred. JMHO.
  10. According to IMDb, Rita Moreno is 87. Born 12/11/1931. That's got to be a typo. Not only does she look great, she still looks like Rita Moreno! Those are some fabulous genes!
  11. It's pretty normal for an awards' show host to wear one gown to walk the carpet and then a second (or third) for their hosting duty. I've never been all that blown away by Nicole Kidman's performances in the past but IMO she was amazing in Big Little Lies. She's deserved each of the many awards she's won this season.
  12. I adore Allison Janney and admittedly I have not yet seen I, Tonya but I thought sure that Laurie Metcalf had the Supporting Actress award wrapped up. You're right; it's not looking too good for her right now.
  13. Connie's dress looked like it came from the Dynasty collection. Very 1985. I can't believe that big shouldered look is back in style again.
  14. Metallics certainly are big on the carpet tonight, which I love. I hope we get the chance to see the bottom of Olivia Munn's gown. It looks nice, just seeing the top of it! I liked Yara Shahidi's look. She's become someone I watch for on the red carpet. I just like her style. I liked her TV mom's look too. Tracee looked great in that white Grecian gown. Kate Hudson is a fashion don't for me tonight.
  15. How wonderful that Tony Hale brought his HS drama teacher as his plus one! Lots of beautiful gowns tonight. I love what Giuliana's wearing. Marisa Tomei looks amazing.
  16. I'm giving this a bump as we'll need it in a few hours! E!'s red carpet coverage starts at 6:00 p.m. Eastern. Complete list of 2018 nominees can be found here: Complete list of nominees for the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards
  17. Georgie with his head inside the dryer looking for where the water comes in cracked me up! Also Missy calling on the phone and Georgie making a beeline for it. "Did you run to the phone? Do you feel stupid?" I love her! I'm really enjoying Young Sheldon on its own merits. I honestly don't care what jives with TBBT canon or doesn't. (And I do watch TBBT.)
  18. Good call on Phoebe, who also had smoke detector issues. :D I guess Annie is all about the free food samples! My kids (now grown) used to enjoy testing out all the furniture too, with emphasis on recliners and spinning office chairs. I had the same reaction to the smoke detector with the battery "door" left open. I was actually relieved that it was only batteries they had forgotten and not Randall! Then I started reading this thread and wanted to smack myself upside the head for not recognizing the anvil. As for the potential BFF relationship between Madison and Kate, it seems to be one sided to me. Madison may be looking at Kate that way but it doesn't seem to be reciprocated, IMO.
  19. Cameran: "Let's face it, he wants to marry his mother." Um no, Cam. He wants to marry you but you're off the market.
  20. While I do watch Young Sheldon where he is the star of the show, my first experience watching Iain Armitage was in Big Little Lies where he was excellent in a pivotal role. This youngster has a lot of talent. And he did a great job as a Jeopardy! clue reader too!
  21. If Alex wouldn't have wasted 25 seconds or so jokingly telling us that he doesn't want to lose his job to the likes of Iain Armitage, perhaps we could have heard one more clue in the "Whose Album" category. Not clearing the board drives me crazy, especially when the remaining clues often seem to be in categories of interest to me, tonight music and movies (DJ.)
  22. Iain Armitage had his own video category on Jeopardy! today, "Science With Iain Armitage." He was delightful!
  23. From the S2Ep1 thread. Insurance companies don't care. What's more, the time you have the baby makes all the difference. Everything's counted at 12:01 a.m. In 1993, I gave birth on a Wednesday at 12:13 a.m. I was released on Friday. My OB told me that had my son been born 15 minutes earlier, they would have had to release me on Thursday! My husband was recently hospitalized and I had a similar conversation with a nurse who told me that the number of days is counted by where the patient is at midnight.
  24. Taking this to the Small Talk thread so we all don't derail the episode thread with our childbirth stories!
