  1. IMO, this may have been the Oscars with the fewest fashion misses in years. Almost everyone looked lovely. I agree that top marks go to Jennifer Garner and Lupita Nyong'o. I'm giving a special overall award to Mary J. Blige for all 3 of her Oscar night gowns; red carpet, performance and after party. All three were stunning. My fashion don'ts for the evening were Salma Hayek, Emily Blunt and Taraji P. Henson. I also loved Chadwick Bowman's look for the evening.
  2. ABC's exclusive rights to the red carpet have been growing as the years have gone on. For a while there, they had exclusivity for just the 30 minutes prior to the Oscars' kickoff. Within the past couple of years, it has been a 60 minute exclusive. E! used to have a couple of hours of solid coverage. This year, they had permitted coverage from 5-7 EST, with ABC's exclusive window beginning at 7. Between 5-7, I was seeing plenty of arrivals stepping from their limos, but Seacrest interviewed only a handful of mostly non-A list celebs. As @BW Manilowe mentioned above, I highly doubt that E! ends their relationship with Seacrest, but based on Sunday night's lackluster coverage, they should consider an alternate red carpet interviewer for the next awards season, specifically one who's not being boycotted by a substantial number of celebrities.
  3. I caught that also and thought it was wonderful, acknowledging all the humans standing on the stage, not just the famous ones. Changing topics. Can we discuss what E! is going to do moving forward? They've got about 6 months until the Emmys and they'd better figure out how they're going to fix the disaster that was their coverage of the Oscars. First, why was Giuliana stationed across the street at the Roosevelt Hotel? In past years, she had a place elsewhere on the red carpet. Was there an "only one representative" dictate that came down from the Academy? Giuliana usually gets a certain percentage of the arrivals on her end and holds her own quite well at the other awards' shows. Most of the nominees/presenters seem pleased and comfortable speaking with her. As my ABC affiliate did not show red carpet coverage until 7 p.m. EST, E! was my only option and in reading this thread from 5-7, it became apparent that Ryan Seacrest was getting very few of the arrivals to speak with in comparison to ABC. I was only seeing many of the celebs as they exited their limos. Regardless of how one feels about Ryan Seacrest, E! has a definite problem.
  4. While we don't normally talk fashion here, this photo, from the Vanity Fair post-Oscars' party, is such a WTF moment that I just had to share. Have all the mirrors in Padma's home been destroyed?
  5. "The Disaster Artist" was nominated for Adapted Screenplay. Screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber were accordingly credited with the other AS nominees.
  6. Zoe Perry was Laurie Metcalf's plus one at the Oscars. She was sitting next to her in the audience. Made me smile. :)
  7. Others may disagree, but I really don't like ANY of the five nominated songs this year. If I had to pick one, it would probably be "Stand Up For Something."
  8. I'm afraid that Lady Bird is going to be completely shut out. :(
  9. One of the 10 activists I spotted was Chef Jose Andres, who has been serving hundreds of thousands of meals to those still suffering in Puerto Rico. He unfurled the Puerto Rican flag at the end of the song.
  10. How the hell would they even get there? I was under the impression that all the streets near the Dolby Theater are basically closed to traffic unless you've got an Oscar ticket.
  11. While I love Allison Janney and am happy for her personally, I was pulling for Laurie Metcalf who gave such a beautifully nuanced performance.
  12. Well, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt will be in Infinity War next month. Chris Pine spoiled the quartet happening by starring in a DC movie instead of MCU!
  13. Lupita never makes a fashion mistake. She always looks positively stunning!
  14. Mary J's performance gown is just as beautiful as her red carpet dress!
  15. He is wonderful in everything and has been nominated twice but I fear he'll never win one. He makes everything look so effortless. I like that they cast a British Mary Poppins.
  16. During the B&W opening when they showed Meryl Streep, was that Eddie Vedder sitting two rows behind her? Is he connected with one of the nominated films?
  17. Yes. The hour before the actual start of the Oscars is red carpet exclusive to ABC.
  18. Giuliana on E! interviewed him for about 10 minutes around 6 p.m. Maybe the E! website will have it up at some point. Thanks for that link. This Sorkinite was hoping that Adapted Screenplay would be a bit earlier in the evening. Sometimes they give out one of the writing awards fairly early on. Not tonight. :(
  19. Jennifer Garner's dress is lovely. And that shade of blue is amazing!
  20. I love Whoopi's gown. My ABC affiliate is finally showing the red carpet coverage. These interviewers except for Michael Strahan are terrible. I'm embarrassed for them.
