  1. What exactly is a circus flamingo? I've never associated flamingos with the circus. My grandfather used to take us to the circus every year, and I don't remember seeing flamingos there.
  2. Interesting. So it sounds like they'll be in Raleigh-Durham the whole season. Or is that just for the first show or a few shows?
  3. I had to look at the pictures of season 10 designs to remember Gunnar. I still don't really, although after looked at the episode when he was eliminated, I do remember wondering why he left instead of Ven.
  4. I'd like Michelle to be eliminated also in a shocking first show double elimination.
  5. Do calorie-free cupcakes come in chocolate?
  6. Will they have to make outfits for the dolls, too? I want to see that.
  7. Wow, I think of 1,700 calories as a lot. Unless I exercise way more than is possible (several hours a day at least), I can't eat that much and lose weight. I don't do super-low calories (actually, I don't count calories, but do WW points, but I have counted calories before), but really can't go much above 1,400 if I want to lose. I'm only 145 or so at 5'3", though, and people see me and say things like, "You don't need to lose weight." Except I do because I am above my ideal weight and am on the verge of overweight by BMI (and don't have enough muscle for that not to work for me) and also, I just don't feel as good as I would if I lost 10 more pounds. I was about 155-60 when I started this time. The first 10 pounds weren't so hard. The lower I get, the harder it is.
  8. Or just drinking half as much juice. And, obviously, buying juice that is 100 percent juice, not juice and a bunch of added sugars. I know real juice has lots of sugar, but it at least does still have stuff that's good for you along with the sugar from the fruit. Of course, you could also just drink water and eat an orange (or apple or whatever other fruit), which would be even better for you.
  9. I find I have to stop myself from telling people they're being stupid, so it's just easier not to talk about it.
  10. I've been known to have a bag of chips for dinner, but not since my son was born. I can't give him that for dinner, and he wants whatever I have. Since I have to cook for him, it's easier to cook for all of us. I've quit drinking Coke at various times, but I just don't want to anymore. I know it's bad for me, but I want the caffeine. I also know I could get caffeine in tea (I hate coffee), but not without sugar, and it takes longer to make tea than pop a top on a can of Coke. Also, I just like the flavor. Even when I've gotten over the caffeine withdrawal in the past (and it's huge), I crave the flavor of Coke. I try to have just one can a day (which is worth 4 Weight Watchers points), but lately have been failing.
  11. I didn't see anything obviously wrong with the construction on those dresses, although it is hard to tell from photos. But I didn't see any obvious crooked hems or seams or puckering. They looked pretty well put together to me. Ugly and not something I'd want -- not even the ready-to-wear version (in fact, I'm having problems imagining a ready-to-wear version of all of them) -- but pretty well put together. But I like Sandhya, not because she's meant to be an underdog, though. I don't know exactly why I like her, but I do -- at least as much as I like anyone else on this show.
  12. I hope they last a long time because I want to see how they handle roadblocks. I'm sure that she is more physically capable than most racers, but there are things that will be harder for her to do with only one arm, so I'm interested in seeing if they plan for that (or if they do like many racers seem to do and forget that one half of the team should not be doing all the physically easier tasks).
  13. There's been at least one team of flight attendants and possibly more. The team I remember, two blonde women, did not do all that great. They had wheelie bags rather than backpacks, I think.
  14. I find that if you surround the nuts with a little nougat, caramel and chocolate, they work pretty well. Of course, they're worth more than 200 calories, but you can't have everything.
  15. Yes. She and Melissa were on season 11, episode 6, the one where they made clothes for the women at the senior center.
  16. When did Zanna Roberts Rassi's babies born? She announced last December she was pregnant with twins. I suppose she could do Project Runway All-Stars in addition to her regular job even with infant twins, but I wouldn't want to. That's a lot of time away from the babies and also from sleep. I'd rather have Joanna Coles, but since she's no longer with Marie Claire, that seems unlikely. I did always like her insistence that women want to be able to wear bras with their clothes (even if the models often don't need them).
  17. Which would be amusing. I kind of like his orange fringe dress, even though I hate orange. I could never wear it because 1, where would I wear a dress like that? and 2, orange looks awful on me. But I thought the color looked great on that model. I hope Emily doesn't win. I thought her collection looked awful -- although most everyone else's did, too. When I was 16-17, I would have loved Fade's collection and wanted to wear most of it. I'm 46 now, so although I appreciate the fact that teenage me would have wanted them, I don't love them in the same way I would have then and I don't think most of the outfits should be worn by adult women. I suppose that is the definition of junior.
  18. I kind of like the black and white polka dot dress, but the rest is just ugly, particularly that purple top and skirt (or maybe dress that looks like a shirt tucked into a skirt). It looks ill-fitting. If it looks that bad on a model, I can't imagine what it would look like on a regular woman. Also, the shirts look like scrub tops. Perhaps she could have a career designing surgical outfits.
  19. I enjoyed watching the guy who looked like he wanted to go to sleep and then got up and started leaving almost as soon as the last model passed him.
  20. No idea where you are, Cherry, but there's probably a quilter in your area that would do that for you. My brother found someone to make four quilts out of my dad's shirts after he (my father, not my brother) died, and my mom has another one made from Dad's T-shirts. If you have an HCE group near you, check with it. If you don't know if you have an HCE group, call your county extension office and ask the family and consumer science educator (used to be called the home economist) for a recommendation.
  21. I'm so glad you said this. I thought maybe I just didn't remember that happening in the last book, which I have not read as much because I couldn't stand the suspense at the ending.
  22. Oh, we do that here, too. It's just that here, I have some idea of what that means. If I were doing a TV show set here, I'd like to think that I'd clarify in miles for viewers not from around here who don't know what 45 minutes means.
  23. What I didn't understand about complaints about getting the crappy suit is that almost all of them were the crappy suit. Some might have been OK, although without being able to feel the fabric, I'm not prepared to say they were good choices.
  24. It's hard to tell on some (most) of the models, but some of the photos I've seen of Heidi suggest she does not have a problem with that.
  25. My husband, who took German as part of his multilingual communications major in college, has no problem understanding Heidi (and he isn't a native German speaker). I thought Fade had a conversation with Heidi in German in the first or second show. The one where the designers showed the judges three looks and the judges picked the designers.
