RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under: G'Day, Mate!
Iguana replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in RuPaul's Drag Race
I liked Kita from the beginning and am glad she won. I think Scarlet would have won if she didn’t have the blackface problem. But no way was Ru going to take on that kind of controversy for a winner. I was really turned off when Ru and Michelle turned the “lunch” with the finalists into therapy sessions. Not cool at all. -
OMG. That’s right. I claim PTSD. My brain wiped out the bedazzled part in an effort to blunt the trauma.
-
And here I thought that wearing a powder blue leather basketball jersey while proposing to Krista on the BB 2 finale was the worst crime Boogie would ever commit....

I think they are really stretching the definition of “all stars” with this cast. It really shouldn’t include anyone who didn’t at least make it to top ten in their original season. I’m guessing Corona may have limited the options. And Silky? Just no. Officially.

Tyra. Sweetie. Just say no to the tulle. Please. For the sake of all our eyeballs. -
What the hell is Tyra wearing????? It looks like she wrapped wet toilet paper around randomly around her chest then rolled in cheap glitter. And then paired it with the most unflattering and ugly pants she could find. Isn’t she supposed to be a fashion plate?

There was a time, I think during Pressure Cooker in season 6, when TWoP kept crashing. Glark posted later it was because of everyone constantly hitting refresh in the live feed thread, seeing if any new posts had been made. Those were the days. It’s too bad the feeds this season are so mind numbing and boring. Thanks to all you feedsters who soldier on, throwing yourself on the grenade dud that is “all stars”.

My take on the Christmas and Bay situation? Everyone is eventually going to be on the block sooner or later. It’s part of the game. HOH can put up whoever they want for whatever reasons. Also part of the game. Hamsters should accept this and deal with this reality. But nominees are entitled to be pissed off, or not, and have no obligation to make the HOH feel good about it. Christmas, you don’t get to be mad about your nominees being mad about being nominated. You decided to put them up and one of them is going to get voted out because of your choice. If they’re pissed at you, suck it up. That’s part of the game too. and on a slightly less analytical note, these hamster all suck and this season is soooooooooooooo fucking dull. -
What I wouldn’t give for Nadjia to be in the house for just one hour. Kaysar would likely be the only survivor as everyone else would annoy her to death with the stupid. What We Do in the Shadows is such a fun show. Highly recommend it.

S11.E18: All Stars Skills Challenge Special
Iguana replied to Quilt Fairy's topic in American Ninja Warrior
So this was filmed pre-COVID, right? Funny how quickly the maskless crowds have become a symbol of the Before Times. The freestyle dive was a blast. Loved how much fun the ninjas had and how creative and skilled most of the dives were. While I will give kudos to Island Ninja for 2 of his 3 dives, Jesse Graf is the queen and rules all. All three of her dives were great. -
I watched America's Next Top Model, and based on how bad Tyra was as an interviewer/host on that show, she will be terrible on DWTS. She cannot do banter or off the cuff jokes, and thinks she's far more charming than I have ever found her to be. After the Bobby Bones win and lackluster last couple of seasons, I was halfway out the door anyway. Losing Tom and adding Tyra likely means losing me as a viewer.

That was an amazingly powerful way to conclude the show. That woman’s raw pain, anger, sadness and despair were heartbreakingly clear. A visceral, almost poetic, expression of the unbearable frustration and outrage at the generations of oppression, injustice and bigotry, and then that gut-punch of an ending. Someone needs to force all the Tucker Carlsons to watch that clip for a couple days straight, Clockwork Orange style.

This is one of the few shows that can reliably make me laugh out loud when I watch it. But I don't just like it because it's funny, because I love the characters and their interactions. The frantic antics of the 3 vampires trying to get email addresses, freaking out when the phone rang, and slowly being drained by Colin Robinson's droning on was slapstick at it's finest. And Guillermo taking on the house of '70's vamps was a quality action sequence that I wouldn't have expect to see in a half hour comedy. Loved the vampire's costumes and the disco music soundtrack. Based on his expressions when tucking Nandor into his coffin for the day, I think Guillermo is getting very close to a breaking/decision point about how long he will be willing to stay a familiar.

Holy shit, John. Way to do the straight talk. When a Tik Tok hamster is better informed and better at communication about the corona crisis than the president, does this mean the virus wins? Stay safe, y’all.

Every new beginning come from some other beginning's end. There's life, death, afterlife. When the afterlife ends (whenever you're ready), whatever is through the door is the next beginning.
-
So in the final episode, someone will talk to someone else. How innovative! 😉

I just realized Picard starts in 3 days. (cue muppet flailing about) AAAAAhhhhwahhWooooooo!

Good lord. Sergio really needs to get over himself and the judges really need to get over Victoria.

I'm only an occasional Jeopardy viewer, but the GOAT tournament has lured me in. I expected them to do well on the standard type of questions but was gobsmacked by how good these guys were on the complicated questions like the 3 word rhyme and before during after. They would be finishing the question while I was still puzzling out the answer. Props to all three contestants, and I hope it remains ultra competitive and it goes the distance.

I admit the “loved ones” ep is usually one of my least favourite ones, so that could be colouring my opinion, but so many of the survivors reactions are just so overwrought now. It’s like it’s expected to be sobbing and emotional and some are so over the top as to be fake. Ugh. The first few this ep were particularly ridiculous
-
Well, so that episode happened... Listen, show. Having the characters comment on how stupid the plot is while it is happening does not make the plot any less stupid for the people watching it. Getting "meta" is not, in and of itself, a substitute for decent writing and directing. Commenting on how "God" is a lousy hack of a writer doesn't excuse making an episode this lousy and hackneyed. Please do better.

S10.E02: We Are the End of the World
Iguana replied to nodorothyparker's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
Generally, the monster lurking in the dark waiting to pounce is scarier than the monster out in the light getting a suntan. The more the show digs into the “mystery “ of the Whisperers the less creepier they seem. Not to mention how an ep like this, that tries to explain more about them, does nothing to make them more interesting. Bored, now.
