S08.E08: All The Countess's Men
NewDigs replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Geez. Talk about self aggrandizement. If you're the first person besides someone else you are not first. That makes you, minimally, second. And I have a hard time believeing that diddy was the first. What an ass. And, ryebread, even had she been right about the vehicle she probably paid bunches for, even a blind pig can find an acorn. Broken clocks... And as irrational as this sounds, if she had gotten a Jeep like mine I would have felt mine to be somewhat "tainted". Glad it's a Ford. Hated my Ford. -

I'm thinkin' they ain't that smart. I wonder how many go in thinking they can control their narratives. The old, I'd never do that, misconception. -
First Looks: Upcoming Episodes
NewDigs replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Thanks for the link. Don't know why those first-looks/preview thingies aren't on the Bravo app. Wow. B backed away from that overheard kitchen confrontation? Poor baby was uncomfortable? Unfortunately, I doubt she has enough self-awareness to realize that others might be "uncomfortable" being around her. That cake looked like a days-old grocery store cake. Or really, not even that good. Doris wielding the nearly empty liquor bottle practically like a weapon was gold. I even got a kick out of LuLu and Moaner in the kitchen. Totally inappropriate but good catty fun. -

From the interview with Ramona: On this season, “I think you’ll see me trying to mediate everyone and tryign to get everyone to get along. and I’m in a calm place.” Anyone else notice this new side of Ramona? -
Noooo!!! And I just got my hopes up minutes ago when I read a post in the FNS Alum thread that commented that at least The Kitchen has quit trying to make Katie Lee "a thing". I don't can't won't "get" her. She's like a bad penny. That never gets spent, just used as change.

I don't know why but for some reason it sheds a bit more light on the Carol-Adam-Nicole-Lulu situation. Maybe because now I know the niece! Lol -
Ha! So justice was, finally, served. And how appropriate! Thanks for the recap. 48 Hours recently repeated the "Murder in Aspen" episode about the murder of high-lifer Aspen native Nancy Pfister. I quite recently read about this case in the book "Shadow on the Mountain: Nancy Pfister, Dr. William Styler, and the Murder of Aspen's Golden Girl" and am always interested in seeing more of the participants of the true-crime books I read. 48 Hours seemed much more sympathetic to all of the "players" with the exception of Dr. Styler. At the end of the book I felt that justice was not totally served so was glad Maher brought up some doubts about who-all dunnit. And for some reason Maher kind of got on my nerves. She had an odd affect that made me want to tell her to, Spit it out!

But, Nicole is the niece who did the help-LuLu-recapture-her-youth-with-a-night-out episode? -

There's something very proportionally awkward about that shot. Maybe it's the very high maillot cut of the suit, dunno. Something looks off. I usually prefer Bella's pix over Gigi's but this one has me examining for what's off. And I don't think Anwar is very attractive, at all. -

And I bet their idea of what defines a "professional marriage and family counselor" is a bit different than ours. -

I'm not on track with Nadine either. Was she the niece that LuLu went out-on-the-town with one of the first seasons? If I remember correctly it was kind of a LuLu attempts to regain her youth through her niece type scenario. -

My first thought was that it should be read, " as we enter this loooooong family weekend..." Big deal. Sit around and do a lot more nothing. -

Just curious, did LuLu call it an "Indian" casino? And I almost have to agree that B is not necessarily a snob. (oh, now I feel kind of dirty.) But Beth's mouthy, at times unhinged, impertinence is, imho, worse. We have at least seen free-range LuLu and she can be a hoot. I don't think B ever shuts it down. Nice to see her true-to-form via twitter. Frankly, I'd watch more than a few minutes at a time if she'd just ease up. -
I was listening to CNN this morning and I don't know who was doing the interviews but she interviewed two of the least articulate people I've recently heard. One had been on the Apprentice but the interview was so disjointed I'm not sure about the other woman. I think the interview was supposed to be a balanced look at 2 women who had experience with the Trump temperament but about all I took away from it was Trump has an equal disrespect for men and women. Alrighty then. Good job?

Will look at Walgreens tomorrow! thanks.

MSNBC: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Vaulted)
NewDigs replied to Jaded's topic in Political Network Talk
Spent more time than usual today with MSNBC on the teevee and it would seem some of the media Trump-tide is turning. Not quite such an avalanche of Trump-love as usual. Plus, I was finally able to put a name with a Sirius voice. Joy Reid is a treasure, imho. I listen in my car more than watch the tv and often wondered who this voice of reason belonged to. And I just now heard Halperin wonder what Bernie might have to do to have a movement. Fiber? -
Seems like sometimes the chocolate gets lost in some of these M variations. The pretzel one comes to mind. And I think the dark choco ones could be more chocolatey. But, Coffee Nut? I had no idea. Sounds delish. Will look at Target tomorrow.

I started it and realized it wasn't working for me and took it back to the library. I had kind of enjoyed Arcadia so thought I'd give it a try. Thanks for confirming my initial impression. As cherrypj noted in the Books We Never Finished thread: "You know, there are thousands of books published every year. There are millions of books available now. Why would anyone stick with a book they weren't enjoying? Just drop it in the fire. Go on with your life. Pick up a book you do enjoy." And I couldn't agree more.

Many moons ago I swore I would quit reading any book in which a character "pads" to and fro. I think it was in response to one Dean Koontz book too many but have since found that lots and lots authors have their characters "pad" around their homes/offices etc. To me that extraneous to-ing and fro-ing can create a narrative that reads a lot like, "And then... And then..."
