  1. I spent this episode staring at the "helmets" Bryan and Finola were wearing. They weren't attached to the body suit in any way, they were just put over the head, bottoms open. The one guy got all infected from a slit in his suit's seam, yet Bryan and Finola can walk around breathing air coming in through the bottoms of their un-attached head pieces and they are just fine. Alrighty then. Yeah, Bryan at the end being all shiny and bright eyed and happy and grinning ... that wasn't the Bryan we know. Not sure how tin foil protects someone when it's worn like a robe, all open in front. But then, I'm no scientist.
  2. Just yesterday I was reading reviews for monocular scopes that attach to smart phones to turn them into telephoto cameras. Check those out when you get home, then start saving your money. I was looking to buy one just for spotting things, but decided my binoculars were just as good, plus I have multiple cameras and a zillion (expensive!) lenses so passed on the scope. But it really sounded cool for people who take pics with their cell phones. Photo quality on most phones now is as good as the expensive SLR cameras, and a monocular scope would be a cool purchase for a birder.
  3. @Browncoat, I am so excited about the birds you are seeing. I take photos of birds, then I can ID them when I put the pics on the computer and am able to view them closer and clearer. My favorite was taking a pic of some blob that turned out to be a Brown Creeper. I used to go out with my birder friends, we'd shoot the Bald Eagles that winter here at the Mississippi lock and dams. Those spots have turned into mega tourist places, the Corps has built overlooks and people come from all over to see and photo the eagles. Anyway, my friends had never seen/photographed a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak. Some dog friends in northern Iowa said they had one that came to their feeder. So we made the drive north and spent the day sitting in their front yard with our cameras ... and yes, the Grosbeak came for his photo shoot! We get a variety of wading birds here. My house is on a flyway for Canadas, they always let me know when they are flying over. (Noisy!) Some Sand Hill Cranes parked themselves here once, which was pretty cool as they are not common in this area. Sometimes I see herons and egrets flying over. They are silent flyers and look like pterodactyls with those legs out behind them. Keep us posted about your adventures. It's nice to be On The Road Again, no? I vote ten big YESES for this.
  4. I didn't notice Buzzy using any specific gesture but Ken uses the same one so much, here and on The Chase, that he is teased about it on Twitter, with people posting photos of his hands and making funny comments. It's kind of like if he stopped, it would be even more noticeable by its absence. I don't have any problem with Ryan or his play yesterday. He did a fabulous job and deserved to make it to the semis. As is stated above, those dissing him says more about the disser than the dissee. Like that old glass-house analogy, all Ryan haters need to get on the show and see what posters say about you ... your pronunciation, clothes, stance, buzzer holding, dumb answers ... the list is endless for people sitting at home on their couch to use to slam people who, frankly, are smarter than they are. And that's my lecture for today. Buzzy's Twitter has some very nice posts and the most adorable photo of him with Alex as its header. He's a classy guy. Plus, Harold Lloyd. Anyone out there know what I mean?
  5. Okay, I just failed that FJ answer too. Yeay me (not). Now you're talkin'. YUM! Ranger cookies AND FIVE FIVE FIVE-spice chicken. Appropriate!
  6. @Browncoat, give me the dish on the different birds you are seeing. Are they migrating still through the islands? I'm a birder although a frustrated one as the Illinois state bird is the fanciest one that comes to my feeders. And more importantly, see any ponies? Pinto ones named Misty? All kids named their ponies Misty when I was a kid. The lucky ones who had a pony anyway. Birthday party for @zoey1996 next month. Stand by everyone!
  7. I was going to say that's a pic of your mom but didn't want to insult her. Just in case. But now I know there is a strong family resemblance, your mom to her grandmother! (Hugs to your mom. Bless her heart.)
  8. I found this photo of @j5cochran's great grandmother taken just after she finished stirring up a pot of fudge.
  9. It's only Muh Muh Muh Muhnday, I mean Monday, but the winner of Week 35 is loud and clearly the brilliant player known as @Driad, the only one of us to score a perfect FIVE. And to commemorate this very special event, here is a BIG FIVE trophy just for you, Driad. Start a trophy case and put this in it as the first of more to come. I'm sure of it! Now, congratulations to you from us all, and ... BEHOLD! Your award!
  10. Now I wonder what is the farthest east Asian capital. Anyone?
  11. "Scratch" is a slang word for money.
  12. Sarah's FJ bet was the right one, she was trying for a Wild Card. If she had bet nothing, her low total would not have given her a Wild Card anyway. It was just bad luck that she didn't get the answer. I admired her gutsy bet. Nothing ventured ... Hoping a Wild Card comes through for Jason. Buzzy is my No. 1 favorite host of all times. And I mean all times. He ROCKED this episode. Sorry Ken, you are now No. 2 with me and will have to Try Harder.
  13. Reading some posts here, "Bitter Roots" is indeed a good title for this episode.
  14. LOL. I know people who do that. I also know many dogs who are so pleased with their handsome selves after grooming. (I know people like that too!) I did not watch the first season of Groomer Has It (I have season 2 on disk, given to me by one of the contestants) so I watched some YouTube clips the other day. Judge Jorge is one of the contestants. But my big takeaway is the judge Xavier goes around each week to every groomer and insults each one with the most nasty comments. He treats them all like cr*p that didn't deserve to breathe much less be on HIS show and in HIS presence. It was horrible, he was horrible, and the environment had to have been toxic. It was not fun to watch. Anyone griping about Pooch Perfect needs to watch some of that, then be thankful this show is bright and happy and everyone is treated with respect. That has to be Gabriel, the Bichon expert! He is actually my pick to win. You are lucky to be able to have him as your dog's groomer. Thanks for posting!
  15. Bless your heart @j5cochran. I'm a crunchy peanut butter person but can live with creamy or none at all. I am very easy to please ... any food that isn't created by me is delicious. Plus, I have no allergies and I like everything. Yeay me! All food makes me happy. I am currently doing my taxes because deadline tomorrow. I will need a whole box of your Hershey's Cocoa fudge (I remember when there was a recipe on the cans ... my mom used to make it, I can still see the can, I would retrieve it for her from the cupboard because I was much taller than she) when and if I ever manage to struggle through these forms. The left side of my brain got beaten up by the right side many years ago.
  16. I'm so confused but it appears to be a really real place. However, online ordering isn't working. And since you live closer, how about you take your speed boat up the coast and buy a few boxes for the T41. Please. And thank you.
  17. Only if someone else makes it. I would even ruin melting chocolate chips and pouring them into a pan.
  18. Yep, the contest continues regardless of who is playing or who is hosting. I think it was last season that we got a bunch of reruns. We kept playing and discovered those of us who didn't know the answers the first time didn't know them the second or third time either. It will be interesting to see if the ToC FJs are considered more difficult. I doubt it since I'm a firm believer in IEIYKI.
  19. The Last Dance takeoff was inspired and the characters spot on, as were the individual interviews with fake Jordan and Rodman, those were "right from" the real documentary. I was surprised but happy to see Bob Baffert on WU. I hope he was watching from his million-dollar home in California. He's the Lance Armstrong of horse racing and deserves worse than what WU dealt him. I was vaguely disappointed in this episode. I love Keegan-Michael Key — the writers, not so much.
  20. Sad-face emoji because I'm at the T41, and I had to fudge (the non-edible kind) to get there.
  21. Because I wanted to make it to the T41 again, and @Mindthinkr's puff-pastry-poultry pot pies (alliteration!) convinced me to do this, I'm combining two halves of my FJ answers to make one correct one: Space (Race) and (Istanbul) Turkey. I can do this because I'm not keeping any of the contest prizes, they are all for yous guys (Chicago-ism) so my scores mean nothing. Plus, I'm in need of some good company, and the T41 is the prime spot for that this week.
  22. WEEK 35 • May 10, 2021 — NO asterisk 171. U.S. History. On April 7, 1789 Charles Thomson & Sylvanus Bourne left New York City to tell these 2 men the results of a vote taken the day before. 172. Books of the Bible. Its last chapter includes wisdom from King Lemuel, taught to him by his mother, as well as the famous “Virtuous Woman” passage. 173. World's Fairs. The theme of Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair was “Man in the” this era. 174. Children’s Books. The last book Dr. Seuss published in his lifetime, it climbs bestseller lists every spring. 175. World Capitals. A national capital for less than 100 years, it’s the westernmost capital in mainland Asia.
  23. Add me to our group here commemorating and celebrating the KIT CARSON shout out. That never fails to get me pumped. I'm proud to be a member of the Kit Carson Brotherhood. It's been a while, I still have my dance costume from the Kit Carson Before Your Time All-Star Jeopardy Orchestra featuring the Good For You Rhythm Section and the Women Authors Singers. With the No Boo Hiss Players and the Alber Camoo Dancers. And it still fits! Finally, a category for my favorite state. I left my heart in Montana once.
  24. Looking forward to Buzztronics hosting the ToC next week. So much YEAY to the HEY!
