  1. We just saw that one over the weekend. That did strike me as odd, that we never even got a mention of him again, especially when Tony’s sister came to town and dated Jim. No mention of meeting a new nephew. But then I usually remind myself it was par for the course back then. Louie is one of the most entertaining characters ever. His utter hatred of Bobby and Tony is just delicious, considering he treats everyone pretty poorly, but he really hates them.
  2. My mom and I just started watching Taxi, after going through OG Frasier, Seinfeld, OG Leverage, How I Met Your Mother, and The Golden Girls/Golden Palace in the past three years. We just started season two and Taxi is my favorite out of all of them so far, though it’s a close call with Frasier in the mix.
  3. I do love Courtney Vance, but Chief Delk lasted just long enough to leave us wanting more, providing just a little shake-up (what’s going to happen?), a little comedic relief (his handling of Provenza was masterful), and ultimately a big lost opportunity that may or may not have been for the best (would he have been better or worse for Major Crimes during the lawsuit?). His assignment of Provenza as cannabis liaison alone was worth the price of admission. One could wonder if he would have taken a more active role one way or another in the lawsuit. Pope was just kind of there for the most part, other than when he took credit for Fritz paying Gavin’s fee.
  4. Man, they really trashed Lucky to justify that bit of sleaze, didn’t they?
  5. I heavily disapprove of this, but this could explain why he greeted Team Cap in Infinity War with anything other than bullets to their heads.
  6. In related news, CNN dumped multi-time misogynist Don Lemon.
  7. Barbara Walters retired at a great time, right around the time legacy/mainstream ”news” truly sold out, but some time before it became embarrassingly obvious that they had all sold out. Godspeed to her and thanks to her for all the doors she opened for women willing to work hard rather than play victim, despite leaving the putrid legacy of The View.
  8. I’d like to see the recording in this case, because I find that very difficult (not impossible, mind you; there are too many insane bigots in this world, but so much that the left parrots has already been proven to be outright lies) to believe. It’s also pretty apparent that this shooter was likely not inspired by the likes of the Camerons, so I think Candace at least (who I find condescending in her “love” to those who find her opinions so offensive as to actually call her evil, which is a major problem some activists have, and as for Kirk, that raging asshole can fend for himself) is owed an apology by those who blamed her specifically for this Colorado atrocity.
  9. The last time JJ’s Lucky was remotely rootable IMO was at least a solid year before the fire that supposedly killed him. I will never forget or forgive the filthy things he said to his mother during Rape Revisted (and fuck you to Geary and Guza for that too). And then he came back to grow a set of eyes and give basically the same reading for filth after months of Greg Vaughan’s Lucky being written as a clueless chump. I’ve loathed JJ’s version of Lucky since 1998. I could stomach Shouty McYellerson over OG Lucky grown up, that’s how much I despised the character as played by JJ.
  10. There is absolutely no way anyone could have saved the Romanovs after the Bolsheviks took over.
  11. I’m okay with them not focusing too much on Diana’s good points because they’ve also been doing the same to Charles and they did it to him last season as well. It’s a struggle to get through this season because I had very little patience for this when it actually happened when I was a teenager. I always felt bad for the Queen and Philip being surrounded by either ingrates, entitled narcissists, or decent ones no one was paying attention to because of the aforementioned ingrates and narcissists. Charles and Camilla got better, thankfully.
  12. He’s a celebrity. I’ll believe that when I see the cell bars close behind him. Look at Spacey and Weinstein.
  13. I can’t stand Alec Baldwin and if this event had not cost a life I might be petty enough to want to see how his statement plays out, but I’m wondering about the trauma to him as well. He may very well have convinced himself that what he said is what actually happened to be able to live with himself. And while my first sympathy is with the victim and her family and he was obviously inexcusably careless, I do have some sympathy or at least empathy left over for him. Not much, but it’s there. If he’s a normal person, it’s got to be horrific to live with this no matter what degree of responsibility he ultimately holds.
  14. Are you serious with some of these? if these are all the definitions of masculinity, I know far more aggressive women in the workplace alone who happily and unapologetically display these traits than men. I cannot tell you how many women I’ve heard tell men to man up and take whatever abuse they get because these people are expected to take it because they are not women. I keep telling everyone regardless of gender to report, but men will not officially report unless the circumstances are extreme.
  15. Candace basically preaches let’s all like each other whatever’s going on, and let people live their lives.
  16. Okay. Misdirect all you want, but what exactly is “toxic” masculinity and how is it any worse than than the toxic hatred of anything that whiffs of testosterone? It really cannot be defined until someone finds someone a man has done that they disagree with.
  17. I don’t buy the racist thing. James Earl Jones and Billy Dee Williams have been worshipped by the fandom for 40+ years. Samuel L. Jackson would be welcomed back with the flimsiest of hand-waves. Moses Ingram’s character is a black woman, different in a major way from all of the above. But that doesn’t put her character above criticism. I’m enjoying what she’s brought to the table, but I have to admit that her seeming omniknowledge in Part 3 did annoy me and I hope Leia just gets away from Reva with no explanation in Part 4 with everything else that needs to be unpacked. While I do appreciate that the toxicity needs to be addressed, I think Disney also shou d have addressed the vast majority of the fandom celebrating this series, including the constructive criticism that is unavoidable when talking about something that was so anticipated. Focus on the positive and support Moses Ingram’s decision while giving as little air as possible to assholes who constitute a small minority and above all, stop calling out the majority for the actions of the minority! Stop giving social media and the trolls the power and it will die like it should!
  18. I just finished 7.20 Port Chicago and I was in tears throughout. No matter what anyone wants to say today, that sort of treatment and lack of due process based on skin color was alien to me at the age of twenty-two as it is at the age of forty, thanks to all those, black and white and in between, who fought for the real and true fruition of Dr. King’s dream about the content of one’s character or the potential of one’s character versus the color of one’s skin. I was twenty-two the first time I saw this episode and I could not believe this was the way things were when my parents were my age. This country is truly great in its evolution from one generation to the next.
  19. I would really love a true and factual definition of “toxic masculinity” that isn’t just a disagreement with these idiots’ opinions. We need to start being far more careful about the language we’re flinging around.
  20. Why are we now screaming for an asshole like Amber to be treated more gently than an asshole like Johnny Depp? If women are asking for equity, we need to step up and give up our assholes for the same public humiliation as male assholes are subjected to.
  21. This is a serious question. In the absolute beginning, before any true evidence and/or proof (and let’s take a hard look at what “evidence” constitutes and an even harder look at what proof constitutes) is presented, why should all accusations be believed? All accusations should be heard and listened to and treated with respect, but why should they all be believed? That did not work out too well for black men before the Civil Rights Era. All someone had to do was point at someone and all hell broke loose whether it was deserved or not and that indiscriminate broad stroke has been brought back. Take it from someone who works in the public sector and has to deal with both legitimate and illegitimate accusations. Many deserve it, but there are many who don’t deserve it who don’t get the vindication they deserve because no one cares because they’re not famous. Depp is an asshole, no doubt about it. But Heard is also an asshole. I hope both of them fade as quickly as possible because that’s the best punishment for both of those sub-humans.
  22. Is there a club for people who think that both Heard and Depp are loathsome and not fit for human contact until they both go through intensive therapy and learn how to be functioning human beings? If so, that’s the club I belong to. If not, everyone sucks.
  23. Does Sarah remember, or will she remember, Xander’s active complicity in drawing out the Mickey/Rachel lie longer than it had to be the first time around? I can’t stand this character.
