The $100,000 Pyramid - General Discussion
Phishbulb replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The $100,000 Pyramid
I think they do it so that during the summer there will be "new" programming to fill out the schedule. I think it's fun to have game shows on in prime time during the summer. Of course, this year, the fall schedule is going to kind of resemble "Summer Schedule 2.0" 😀 -

Or "What state did Joe Biden represent in the Senate?" Or "What state were Wayne and Garth less than thrilled to be in?" 😄 -

Has there ever been a case where the team went through the entire chain and made all the money? I don't think it's happened with this new iteration of the show, but even on the original show did it ever happen? -
I saw Jack Black's character from "School of Rock" in there as well.
-
I think he said "Untitled Vagina Woman" 😄
-
"If this show is supposed to be about dragons, why is it all just ladies taking baths?" Maybe he IS too young to watch if that's his attitude 😄

Did you threaten to set the building on fire? 😀

That was the first thing that struck me, that the animation in the Itchy & Scratchy short was TOO good. It's supposed to be kind of janky, no? 😀

"Did-it doo-doo....that sounds like Morse Code" 😄 -
That was the actual voice of ALF, Paul Fusco. Al Jean and Mike Reiss were writers for "ALF" early in their TV writing career.

The guy who plays Shred seems like the love child of Andy Samberg and Tim Robinson 😀
-
Ava calling Jacob "Conan O'Cryin'" also funny 😄

The show that they're replacing it with (that Gina Rodriguez show) just does not look like a good fit with the rest of the shows on Wednesday nights. Even though Abbott Elementary isn't a "family" sitcom, it's sort of about a "workplace family" and it's a show that adults can watch with their kids. The Gina R show looks like a show squarely aimed at adults. But maybe if this is the last season for The Goldbergs, they're gonna be reworking the idea of Wednesday nights being all "family" sitcoms anyway. -
I was struggling this whole episode to figure out where I've seen this actress before, and it's from the last 2 Jurassic World movies, which shows how memorable those were.
-
When she said that line, she sounded a lot like Nikki Glaser to me, which would fit in with the "roast" theme of this episode. I'd be surprised if Glaser can sing that well though.

This is a spoiler, but

This actress played a similar role on the last season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, she seems to be making "annoying" her stock in trade 😀

Agreed that I would've liked to have heard more actual Muppet songs, but at least we got to see some lesser-known Muppets like Uncle Deadly and Crazy Harry. I'm still having a hard time adjusting to Kermit's new voice. I had like 30 years to get adjusted to Steve Whitmire doing it, but I didn't expect we were going to get a third Kermit voice in my lifetime. The idea of the Lambs being HAIM is a funny one, but I think it's Wilson Phillips.

Was there a huge time-jump between these last 2 episodes? Because that baby did NOT look like one that was just born a week (or even weeks) ago. I know "time" is flexible on this show though...

Harlow kind of reminds me of Post Malone without the face tattoos.

Wasn't Taylor Swift supposed to be scheduled on this episode? Edit: My bad, she's on the next episode which will air in the UK this Friday and presumably air on BBC America on Nov. 4th. -
Vintage Episodes: SNL Through the Years

Kind of eerie that the episode heavily featured three people who have died relatively recently (Aiello, Coolio, and Norm). Actually Bobbie Battista who was parodied in the cold open died in 2020 as well. -
Alex Moffat was in full "Guy Who Just Bought a Boat" mode in this episode.

I loved that scene showing what's going on in Tati's head. A bunch of Tatis having a sack race around a messy pile of unconnected wires. Lol...a very cartoony "Simpsons" type joke.
