  1. Is there an ABC game show McHale hasn't been on? He was on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune this week, lol
  2. Maybe she was recovering from that football match she had with Anthony in the Super Bowl commercial.
  3. I thought the line about "There's a special place in hell for gay men who don't help women" was funny. Tina Fey is still salty about her "feud" with Taylor Swift, all these years later. 😄
  4. I actually don't know why they need the fake audience reaction shots for this show. I guess for TMS you could argue they've always been there, so they're trying to make the show look like it's always looked. But like you say, this is a dancing show. We don't need shots of an audience looking amazed that someone can dance. They didn't have an audience for DWTS this last season and it was fine.
  5. It was nice seeing Paul Scheer and June Diane Raphael working off each other in this episode, even though they weren't playing a couple. (They're married in real life, in case you didn't know)
  6. I guess everyone stopped watching this show, lol
  7. Is this ABC's first prime-time game show besides Who Wants to be a Millionaire to be filmed post-pandemic without an audience? I thought maybe these were still old episodes, but there clearly was no audience here. All the fake audience noise and laughter was obviously canned. It must've been filmed fairly recently too, because Kimmel's comments after he lost about demanding a recount or whatever hinted towards a post-election timeframe. I wonder if they'll bring back "Match Game" without an audience too, nothing about that show really requires one I guess. Edit: I guess there's "Celeb Wheel of Fortune" as well.
  8. Yeah, it's for sure Mackenzie, the "best bud" she referred to is her sister Maddie, who she's always kind of been in the shadow of since Maddie's become the bigger success with the Sia videos and everything.
  9. A lot of her questions were very US-centric, and she is from Australia. I don't know that I would've gotten that one about Martha Washington's dentures or whatever that was, so that was maybe just a lucky guess on her part. I didn't even know the one about the hot-dog eating contest winner, and I live in the US. (I would have answered "Kobiyashi", since that's the Japanese guy who won the contest for many years in a row, but he wasn't one of the choices). For what it's worth, I believe Rebel has a law degree and was planning to be a lawyer before making the switch to acting as a career,
  10. Yeah, not sure guessing will be as easy with this version (although allowing us to hear them say one word helps a bit). Like the tulip sounded a bit like Maddie Ziegler to me (or possibly her sister), and the clues seemed to fit with that as well.
  11. Tina Fey was just on Fallon's show in person on Wednesday night, so I'm expecting her to make an appearance, maybe on Update.
  12. He did it with the band when they were the musical guest on the Christmas episode in 2015 when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted. So maybe they figured they didn't want to do it again so soon (ish). I wonder if Dua Lipa will do anything Christmassy this week. It's also possible it might be Kate's last episode, so she might get a musical sendoff as well.
  13. Well, it happened. I wonder if they'll invite her back next week anyway to participate. I agree with the consensus that the final 3 probably should have been Crocodile, Seahorse, and Sun. Mushroom's not that great IMO.
  14. I really, really liked this episode. Concentrating on one storyline with two characters we don't see a lot of was really fun. Matt Selman said on Twitter that they were trying to pay homage to classic "road trip" movies like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles with this ep, and I think they pulled it off very well. Lots of fun side adventures along the way, like the encounter at the "bike bar" and the fight in the B&B. Sometimes when they try to do too many storylines in one episode, it kinda blends together into a mush and I have a hard time remembering the episode a day after I see it, but I think this is one I'll be rewatching a lot.
  15. Between Phil's monologue where he professed his love for his "beautiful wife Brynn" to the Robert Smigel cartoon making fun of Michael Jackson's pedophilia allegations, this was...kinda a cringeworthy episode to sit through. I think they maybe should've stuck with the Taylor Swift one instead. Edit: I also noticed that the Thanksgiving song sketch was sort of a ripoff of an old Albert Brooks routine (off one of his comedy albums), where different people from all walks of life try to write a new national anthem.
  16. Oh wow, doing some Googling on the actress, I didn't realize she had left the show under....less than ideal circumstances. And the ensuing fallout from that meant that the creator of the show Sarah Dunn has left the series as well. Maybe that contributed to Julia Butters leaving too, knowing the show she was on was kind of a sinking ship. I'm guessing this is probably going to be its last season.
  17. This is definitely odd. I guess Ali Wong was unwilling or just unable to COVID quarantine with the rest of the cast. And have they even mentioned what happened to Katie's other friend?
  18. I believe the Obama Cosby Show sketch was written by John Mulaney.
  19. The voice Short was using for his character in that sketch was almost Jiminy Glick-esque. I don't know if he had started doing Glick yet or if this was kind of a dry run for the character.
  20. Especially since they sort of designed the character to look like her as well. It's always hard to make female characters on The Simpsons cute.
  21. Because of election coverage, we lost out on a tenth episode for this season that was to be the season finale. As far as I can tell, it's not being rescheduled. There are still four episodes that were produced for the fifth season (509-512) that haven't aired.
  22. You'd figure she'd be at the wedding, at least.
  23. He looks like "The Boy" from the movie of the same name.
  24. It's pretty much the same joke as a sketch that aired on the show 20 years ago, in the Tobey Maguire episode from 2000. Where Will Ferrell takes a yoga class in order to be able to.....accomplish this goal https://streamable.com/w578u
  25. Yeah, oddly enough this was production code episode 401, when the rest of the ones this season have all been the ones produced for the fifth season. No idea why they held onto this episode for as long as they did.
