S03.E01/E02: Career Day Part 1/Career Day Part 2

I think he's lying about some things and embellishing others. I think there's little to no chance he was ever in the mob in Sicily. State Senate seems doubtful, but a lot more plausible. -

Yes, that kid was my favorite shot of the episode. He looked exactly how I felt watching the proposal. -
S03.E01/E02: Career Day Part 1/Career Day Part 2

I felt so bad for Gregory having to demean himself in the effort to get the old Ava back. When Melissa told, "You know what to do," I was thinking, "Does he?" He was so sheepish and vulnerable afterward. I was shocked that he turned Janine down flat when she mentioned the possibility of them dating. I took her rejection last summer as an "I can't now," not as a no. Not that I expected him to wait around for her to change mind, but from what he said, he's not willing to date her at all anymore. I don't necessarily believe that, but I'm surprised he even said it. My favorite scene was the kids' reaction to the suspense of the proposal. There was one kid with his hands on his forehead, with his mouth and eyes wide open. That was my exact reaction, too. 😂- 103 replies

S03.E01/E02: Career Day Part 1/Career Day Part 2

I hope Manny doesn't turn out to be shady. I was super attracted to him because of his earnestness. Also, his Career Day outfit didn't hurt. -
S09.E04: These Are Not the Droids You Are Looking For
mrsbagnet replied to DanaK's topic in Chicago Med
This episode was more interesting than the previous ones this season. I enjoyed the reappearance of Drs. Cuevas and Johnson and Sharon's ex-husband. On a shallow note, I'm kinda bothered by Sharon's boyfriend's scraggly beard. It looks makes him look unkempt. Seriously. How many times are they going to threaten her and not do anything. -
S09.E02: This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us

I really don't want to sit through Will 2.0. I hope this is the end of Maggie's divorce storyline. I'd rather not see her ex or hear about any of this again. I've hated this storyline from the moment they introduced Vanessa's father. They have to create drama, I suppose. -
In episode 3, the team meets an old friend of Amanda's who is a journalist. Amanda never explicitly explains the nature of their relationship, but the way the two of them interact, plus some comments Faith makes, heavily imply that Amanda and the journalist had a sexual relationship. When Faith tries to ask about her about it, Amanda tells her, "Mind your business."

They turned on the lights! I never understood why this show was so dimly lit. The opening was kind of jarring for it to be the season premiere. It felt like the story started in the middle of the action. There were no shots of the accident scene to establish what happened or scenes of the new doctor being introduced to the staff. The new doctor taking that patient off his psych med showed a serious lack of judgment. If he has that much of a problem with Dr. Charles, then he needs to go work somewhere else.

I almost forgot my favorite moment of episode: When Gabi goes in for a kiss with Trent, and he hits her with a "We need to talk." He's been sprung on her for the entire season, but he's finally, finally had enough. Good for him.

I can't with this show anymore. The bad writing is now affecting the acting. Why would Dhan and Gabi just assume that the person who bought a fake passport and ticket to Amsterdam was in fact Sir, sight unseen. I'm sure lots of people fit his description. Unless they have raw camera footage of him boarding the plane and getting off of it in Amsterdam, they have no proof. Aren't they supposed to be detectives?
-
I would love for the "Sir is dead" theory to true. Sadly, I haven't seen any evidence that the writing on this show could be that clever. I hope they prove me wrong.

There is no way that Haggerty didn't stink to high heaven that morning. How did that singer even let him touch her. 😣

I vote for stopping after Eloise, if we even get that far. They haven't established much interest in the three youngest, though it looks like Francesca will have more to do next season. It just might work out that the seasons for the last 3 or 4 sibs will have a different set of fans.

Kudos to this show for actually showing people using condoms when having unplanned sex.

May! And in two parts! I feel like they are playing with my emotions.

I think the people who make this show believe the writing is way better than it actually is. The show *looks* like it should be good: an attractive cast who are all decent to really good actors, well-styled sets, and movie-like cinematography. But the writing is so ridiculous that it ruins it.

Gabi is harsh all the time. Even when she being nice and caring, she's harsh. She's serious all that the time, so it's as if she can't convey the full range of emotions. There's no levity, no joking. I understand how her trauma could make her be that way, but it does make the character unpleasant to watch at times. I've never been quite clear on whether Margaret sleeps at the bus station or if she stays up all night. That seems totally unsustainable, not to mention if she were a real person, her back would be all jacked up.

Gibbs never knew she had a baby. I think she had the baby before she reconnected with Gibbs. After the rape, I was worried about her getting pregnant, but then they just showed her on the train back to London and then seeing Gibbs, so I thought, "Oh good, she didn't get pregnant." Then they hit us with a surprise older daughter. I was so sad when Benny took her boyfriend back after he threw the bowl at her. No, no, no. Domestic violence is a "one strike and you're out" situation. Easier said than done, I know.

I keep picturing the scene when Roman pulls Otis aside to tell him when and Abbi tried to have sex, she set his blanket on fire. I don't why, but the way he says, "My nan knitted that. I'm gutted," makes me laugh whenever I think of it.

I'm confused. Did Sir say something about keeping Gabi from saying goodbye to her dad? Her dad hasn't been dead long, so she wasn't being held by Sir at that time. Maybe I missed heard... I am so bugged by the way that Trent lets Gabi use him. He's so stuck on her that I'm starting to feel sorry for him.

I just rewatched this episode. I've never paid all that much attention to Colin, but he has a funny line that I had always missed: When they are fencing, and Anthony is complaining about Kate being pompous and arrogant, Colin replies, "She sounds like a terrible nuisance." He says it so deadpan that I had missed the sarcasm. His delivery reminded me of the line in The Princess Bride, "Truly you have a dizzying intellect," which always makes me laugh.
-
That bugged me, too. Once it was made clear that she'd read The Catcher in the Rye, it made no sense that she didn't figure it out faster. "Phony" is not a word that modern teenagers use. As soon as the kid said it, I thought, "What, is he J.D. Salinger?"
-
I'm just glad they gave the sister something to do other than snark. She was beginning to be a one-note character. I hope they flesh her out and give her some sort of life outside of being "the little sister."
-
They were telegraphing something sexual between Gabi and the detective, so I wasn't surprised by the reveal that they'd hooked up in the past. I wonder when/if we'll see it happen on the show.

He didn't exactly do a good job hiding his voice, plus he mentioned the separation. This reminds me: When my childhood best friend was a teenager, she called home upset about some kind of urgent situation. When her mom answered, friend said, "Ma, this is [friend's name]." Her mom laughed. Friend asked, "What's so funny?" Mom said, "Did you really think I wouldn't know who you were?"
