  1. I wonder Todd-drama they will show, to start this season. no crew? no dozers/trucks/washplant? no claim? no money? no problem. remember at a season beginning (a season or two ago), they showed him sitting in the backyard, watching his firepit? was he sitting in the rain? I don't remember. ;) if he was an alaskan bush family, it would have been in the rain. hahaha
  2. does the seal find air pockets under the ice? (to breathe) odd that Zeke says gold mining stopped when Emily took a day off. err..... took off for a day. why was it stopped? but one or two episodes later, she is shown motoring out to his dive operation by herself. looks like no one is there. oh, wait. Zeke is diving. hmmm. was he diving by himself? maybe he doesn't need her or her resources at all. Emily's all-girl-crew? made for tv. I guess that $100k underwater machine will be useful for the summer dredging. I had been wondering why the dredging was "limited" to very-near-Nome. maybe it isn't? or is that a great spot because of a river mouth or something. another curiosity. they finally had a very profitable season with the Christine Rose. got it figured out. great. so what do they do? double down? build another dredge just like the CR? nope. they make plans to head inland. I hope their big plan includes someone staying near Nome and running the CR.
  3. I did enjoy his 100th episode of No Reservations. Paris http://www.eater.com/2010/9/7/6720439/the-100th-episode-of-no-reservations-just-the-one-liners
  4. by this time they should have seen the episodes, and know what he was doing. you think they would work with him after seeing that? I was a little surprised when they set up their operation right beside his.
  5. :) The National Park Rangers are advising hikers in Glacier National Park and other Rocky Mountain parks to be alert for bears and take extra precautions to avoid an encounter. They advise park visitors to wear little bells on their clothes so they make noise when hiking. The bell noise allows bears to hear them coming from a distance and not be startled by a hiker accidentally sneaking up on them. This might cause a bear to charge. Visitors should also carry a pepper spray can just in case a bear is encountered. Spraying the pepper into the air will irritate the bear's sensitive nose and it will run away. It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for fresh bear scat so you have an idea if bears are in the area. People should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear scat. Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain small bells and smell of pepper.
  6. for some reason I was expecting a show last night.
  7. iirc, the seller backed out of the deal. and the buyer was in a hurry. so,........ rage.
  8. he is very close to using a "vocal fry" in his talking head shots
  9. iirc, Seattle had a running back that was doing very well that day. if they were not making any headway running, a pass might make more sense. but their back was having a good day. ????
  10. I noticed that, too. I bet the video guys were thrilled with that shot. good lighting, good wind, good camera angle, good subject. yeah! did kneecap get to watch the game? for a second I was thinking Monte might have been all alone on the wizard for a couple of hours. one-man boat! then I thought of the camera guys, then I thought of kneecap. total crew = 10? Since the lady greenhorn was doing most of the work items, but was just wearing down, I wonder if they could have offered her a smaller deal. like 8 hours of deck time per day. or bait and sorting only. for $XX per hour. the crew gets some help, and she doesn't wear down so much. get a fresh greenhorn and keep her, too.
  11. he and his employees were "acting up" on tv, and made the company look bad. IMO, his assistants should have made sure all the parts and pieces were available for the shoot.
  12. was that a subtle reference to Christmas in July ? ;) ...... referring to the APB Christmas in July special show. The Browntonians will love those comfy shoes and handmade mittens! If we coordinate shipping dates, your mittens and my parka donations will get there at the same time. Just in time to save them from the cold weather. (danger!) nine pairs of mittens should be enough. maybe put some spares in there for the new girlfriends/fiances.
  13. odds are, no one will know, and there will be plenty of room. because no one lives there! hmmm. we haven't seen much of the inside of the house since it was finished and occupied. I want to see the furniture, carpet, and the modern electrical conveniences and appliances. btw, how would they pay for all that stuff? since we are still watching after the magic house construction episode, I guess they win. haha. they have a money-making tv series.
  14. thanks for reminding me of the "Christmas in July" episode. sitting on logs in the rain, making "isn't this great?" comments. they could have left Ketchikan anytime and walked into the woods for that sort of living. anytime they wanted. guess it was "time" when the cameras showed up, and they were told there will be some more episodes. ;) I still want to know who started that fire for them. :) I figure that nine months of living in that cramped apartment and working infrequent, random cash jobs showed how they would be living if there was no tv money.
  15. we've seen them fishing by hand. and fakely crab fishing with a pot. is this the first time they've used fishing poles on the show (to fish) ? maybe someone should tell them that they don't have to starve if they run out of venison. so the village guy was asked how he makes a living. "fishing. that's my boat over there." radical concepts! fish for food. fish for income.
  16. there was mention of a new show next week, made up of previously unused clips. you know what that means? it means the show is popular enough to have a future.
  17. "tech" is overmentioned. drink away! maybe it is mentioned so much, because they think it explains why people would pay so much for standard houses in SF. ?? I read a little t*ch news and business news. I read about the shuttles a couple of years ago. they have their own wireless internet connections. :) last year, they were in the news because protestors were blocking them to bring attention to the shortage of low-income housing in SF. I didn't pay much attention to it. but could it have been an exhaust tube for a clothes dryer?
  18. that was some nice, modern nav gear, wasn't it? amazing what bush barter can get ya. ;) I wondered if they ate the fish, too. They caught more than one meal's worth. I noticed that. Checking the house (and under the house) would have been a priority for me. One of them ran to "get his gun". So I guess the house was clear. :) chickens? what about the chickens - their primary food source, without which they could............................... nah. you know. made for TV moment #1251 : climb a tree and howl for me. right.
  19. Good news! They made a deal (barter) with some local who had some spare outboard motor parts in the backyard. Another deal (barter) with a passing cruise ship from Ketchikan for some surplus copper wire and off-white paint. Side note, the Ketchikan people were glad to see them. Well, glad to see them THERE. Anyway, the boat was fixed up and spiffed up, and is now ready to haul some cargo! With plenty of room for the whole family and the spouses and granbabeeees and stuff. That was a close one. The future of the family depends on it. It doesn't depend on the younger generation of men being productive. Nope. The boat means everything. Without it, danger or something.
  20. I wondered that, too. a water pitcher, glasses, and some books. should be easy. also, does Jenni do any work now? Or is she there just for the cameras and comments?
  21. it looked like he picked a nice hand towel from closet. instead of a rag.
