yup. he said something about winter coming. ha. bush people need shelter, food, and fuel. they are wasting time with a generator on a stick. will that keep them warm all winter or feed them? too bad the meat storage shed had to get messed up with some junkyard contraption door. for the door, all he needed was a simple piece of plywood, held in place by a couple of horizontal 2x4 pieces. not even a hinge. after all, they wouldn't be going in and out frequently. I doubt that shed could keep out a hungry grizzly.

hey, just put a winch on the 4wheeler. hmmm. do they have a 4wheeler? or would that might make them too much like "regular folk".

"chain saw winch". had to do an internet search for that one. it looks like the type of tool that would be used infrequently. so you would borrow (or rent), not own. having a couple inexpensive "come alongs" is a good idea, though.

I liked Parker's reaction, when the guy started telling him the story. "I don't want to hear anymore" (or something like that). that trip is so hard to do right, that a large tourist boat makes the trip three times a day. hey, just have the barge *follow* the other boat! so Freddy Dodge rolls in with some gold. he already has the means to move 1000 yards and wash the paydirt and get gold out of it. so why does he need Todd? who will be in charge of Freddy's operation? my guess is that disco needed to avoid a total failure for Todd. how would they explain his operation returning next year? they couldn't. so he had to move somewhere else 'this year' and get an encouraging bit of gold so he can convince his crew there will be more gold 'next year'. the gold is there. I can feel it.

maybe they will pay off the cow-loan™ with cheese. b-b-b-bush cheese! it's almost to die for.

fwiw, there is such a thing as a battery powered electric fence. I noticed the narrator said the family was forced to stay in the city (while two were doing time for their crime). I guess there was no way for the rest of the family - including several adult men - to stay in the bush house "alone". don't know, but they showed that scene three times during the show.
