  1. Laws and regulations about permits and inspections vary from location to location even within the same county. To install a replacement water heater two miles from me requires a permit and following inspection yet I'm free to replace mine at will with zero oversight. My neighbors didn't require a permit to put a deck behind their house as long as it wasn't x feet above ground level. I'm not saying the Duggars don't likely ignore building regulations, but they do vary considerably across the country.
  2. It has its uses. My neighbor's 75 year old husband goes on 2 hour walks 6 days a week. He was overdue and she checked and he wasn't nearly as close to home as he should have been even running late. She called me and we drove straight to him instead of having to guess his route. He'd fallen so I took them straight to the ER.
  3. Jill is 45. She doesn't need herbs to keep her from getting pregnant. Her odds of pregnancy drop every day and her odds of a miscarriage should she conceive go up every day.
  4. So much of post production depends on how many bodies they're willing to assign - how much the network/production company is willing to spend. With TLC it's apparently not much.
  5. Shunt replacement or revision.
  6. I think and hope that Jill's future in-laws will have her number and grifting off the in-laws will end. Perhaps it will even have an upward effect on the two SILs.
  7. I don't think Meri has a circle phobia. She's right that squared shapes are more efficient for storage so she prefers them. Many people prefer straight rather than curved edges. That she also likes the steam punk look means she has some tolerance of circles, she just doesn't want them everywhere.
  8. When the original furnace was installed in this house, the thermostat was in the coldest area of the house. When I got a new furnace, I said please leave it there it works bettter for me. When they left, I noticed that they'd moved the thermostat to a foot or two from the furnace. I complained but they said it was "more efficient." It's also now in the warmest spot in the house whether heat is running or not.
  9. Savanah is 18. She has less than a semester of college right now, right? I was going on the post above. I'm barely making it through the episodes. I doubt I'll go fishing for bonus scenes. Whoever thought of that trick to get more viewers needs to be hung over a waterfall by their ankles. (figuratively of course)
  10. Possibly just as effective as sitting in the hot tub every night.
  11. Keep dreaming Gwen. Does she realize to be a psychiatrist, she has to become a medical doctor, to do that she has to get into med school and part of that is passing organic chemistry? Unless Gwen has been hiding her capabilities, I don't think is going to work out.
  12. If he were to do landscaping/lawn service in SoCal, it's year round not seasonal. Unlike a lot of the US, winter is a very busy lawn service season. Rain makes the weeds sprout and grow.
  13. I know a 21 year old that went to treatment because her cycles were so irregular. If Tiffany goes in they'll ask about things like that, the timing and regularity of intercourse, etc., along with a general exam. They may not be dreadfully compatible and need to time things more carefully. Maybe Lawson is sabotaging them by sitting in a hot tub every night. There are some standard recommendations that might be all the help they need.
  14. It's a bit light on the low end, but homeschooling should be one to one and cuts out all the Johnny and Billy stop fighting/talking, sit down, and do your work conversations. It also doesn't include roll call, lunch, nutrition breaks, recess, or assemblies. You also skip the kid who asks 1000 unnecessary questions just to stall unless that happens to be your kid. Some days the kid can read the story and or book and write a synopsis without a lot a lot of parental input. Other days might be almost all day science at the zoo. I've seen articles that pre-school up to age 4 should never be more than 15 minutes a day of worksheets or "seat work." Although the regular pre-school curriculum would be tough to replicate at home while also working with older children. I was a flexible multi-tasker and I maxed capacity to adjust at three children. That would be giving them what I considered quality mothering time not homeschooling full time. I was filling in what I considered gaps in the school curriculum. Also my kids were not close in age. I don't see Auj having the dedication it would take to give all three a quality education. I think she's going to be content to have them fill out sheets in the workbooks you see by grade level at Costco.
  15. At their ages, I think it's usually 12 months. Testing might be done earlier if there is reason to suspect a particular problem. As one of my OBs once said it never hurts to have a general checkup either before trying to conceive or within six months so things like bloodwork, weight, etc., can be done or discussed and if something like anemia shows up it can be treated.
  16. @Gramto6 look at 0:33 for How to Trap a Cat. It's too funny.

    Mykelti

This an interesting take on Mykelti: https://screenrant.com/sister-wives-mykelti-brown-acts-like-kody-brown/ She needs to watch herself.
  18. This was in my newsfeed this morning: https://www.the-sun.com/entertainment/9573806/little-people-fans-fear-for-tori-roloff-son-legs/ I only rarely click on Roloff articles in the feed so my mind immediately thought it was something from here. When I accidentally closed it, it took me a bit to realize it was from the feed. The kids are cute and Tori seems more involved with them than she had been while pregnant.
  19. They do and in some areas they're called granny bikes. I agree with @Gramto6 that she'd be teased. The training wheels are an excellent idea and my husband used to slowly raise the training wheels so they helped less and less as the child balanced better. That way doesn't require an adult to be running with the bike and to catch the bike before it topples. The kid just gradually grows into it. I think that would be less embarrassing than a full sized tricycle. Bike shops will adjust a bike for a person's height and also help in selection so they could get help with fitting the bike to Truely.
  20. Dec 10 was when trees were delivered to our town in the 50s. So the tree went up the next weekend. My mother usually took it down Jan 1 while watching football. She wanted the fire hazard (as she called it) out of the house before she went back to work. I can't imagine living like Carlin with a kid throwing ornaments around right after Halloween and having either an artificial tree gathering dust or a live tree drying out to firebomb status.
  21. Remember how Tim began being more normal when he was away from Jill during the few months he went to college? Jill saw photos of him with a girl and reeled him in back home. I think he learned to hide things from Jill so she couldn't ruin things again. Another reason to cut her out of the engagement and hopefully the wedding.
  22. I think it's all about a pay cut. If Kody and Robyn have to support themselves and three or four offspring all on their own with only what they really earn from the show, that's a scary proposition for them. They'll no longer be able to get money from the "family pot." Janelle allegedly is in the top 10 sellers of Plexus. That's quite a bit of money to lose all hope of accessing.
