  1. Who exactly said it was a Mastiff? They could have explained it away by saying that cops or whoever called had no idea what kind of dog it looked like. Or there were rumors it was a Mastiff. I don’t know dog breeds well, but even I thought it looked odd.
  2. I was thinking “Shmantom” Every episode they could drop something big. And it’s all sung through.
  3. Line of the night? Frank’s “I took Spanish at community college.” I actually missed that one at first. Only later did it hit me.
  4. Anyone else expecting Scott Bakula to walk out of the QL Accelerator at the end there? Which begs the question, do we know where Donna is? (I think that is Sam’s wife’s name, right?). I would love a mention at least. A lot of this was crazy, but I could dig it. I love that Ben eventually just told Addison the truth. But I get why she didn’t believe him, and why that would be a bad thing. And I liked that there were still Swiss Cheese holes in his memory. It seems like that is something the project fixes eventually. Overall, I enjoyed this season. I think it got better as the series progressed. I hope TPTB are reading comments and take the notes back to the writers. Especially less Addison as the Hologram and more from the others when the situation calls for it. I don’t have any problem with the chemistry between Ben and Addison, but I rarely notice that sort of thing. But I do think it works better when others are involved. Even get Magic in there once in a while. I am sure his military and political experience could come in handy. All i all I am looking forward to next season. And am glad they are well into production. Hopefully any WGA strike will not delay things too much. (Hopefully the producers will play fair, and good deal will be reached without a strike.)
  5. The only thing I could come up with was “Blitzkrieg”. I wonder if that would have been accepted as it was what overran the Maginot Line.
  6. Maggie is the Charge Nurse, so I guess she is in charge of the nurses. It made sense to me that she yelled at him like that. Short of Ms. Goodwin, Maggie is the only other person there in a position of leadership. And based on the show, the only other person who could get away with it. And she was right too. At some point they are going to hire some new attending, right? They are down to 2 plus an OBGYN. Are there no other shifts they could pull from?
  7. So after this grouping, we have 3 more episodes. Any guesses/wishes for hosts? I’m hoping for Brett Goldstein and maybe Jennifer Coolidge. Either Michelle Yeoh or Ke Huy Quan would be fun. I’m actually surprised we haven’t seen John Mulaney yet. He does have a new special out. So he wouldn’t surprise me either.
  8. I would almost guarantee that someone does. Lest we forget Aaron Sorkin and his journey through TWoP during The West Wing days. As CJ did to Josh on the show, I hear NBC assigned someone to monitor to make sure Sorkin didn’t correspond anymore. I would bet at the very least there is PA here right now. (Waves Hello!). With that, I just read this week that they are already filming Episode 4, so if there are adjustments to be made, it would have already need to happen for those first few eps. I really liked this episode. I think this show is finally blending the two stories together in a cohesive way. And I am all for rotating the holo-friend. I would love to see Magic get in on the action too. Was it just me, or did Ben have a bit more 5:00 shadow this week? It really contrasted with the uniform. I do like that he seems to be getting more comfortable walking in the heals.
  9. I would call this more a parody than an impression. I don’t expect realism from a sketch comedy show. The same show that had Dan Ackroyd portray Jimmy Carter with a mustache. And Chevy Chase putting no effort into his Gerald Ford, aside from the pratfalls. Obviously you have the other end of the spectrum with Hartman and Hammond’s Bill Clinton. This though is more caricature than realistic. Like many of Kate’s characters. In the end though I understood the bit, and it made me laugh.
  10. Have they said someone was going to kill Addison? Or just that she is going to die. Those are two different things. We really don’t know what’s the motive for the future people. Maybe Ben does something that results in a disaster in the future, and Martinez’s people are trying to head that off. That’s the problem with time travel stories. And the fun sometimes too. I was hoping some of the other patients would be able to see Addison, like when Sam leapt into an asylum patient. I was also a bit surprised that leap, and it’s results, didn’t come up. It’s things like that that make me miss Al.
  11. Some thoughts I had this morning. We know from DS9 that Changelings can imitate inanimate objects. See Odo being a duffel bag, drink cart, painting, and glass. All in the first season. But maybe with their "evolution" that allows them to create the innards of the people they imitate, they've lost that ability. Or it is much harder now. That might also explain the new meaty goo look. I think the question is where did this ability come from. We know the Founders were adept at genetic engineering from their work with the Vorta and Jem Hedar. I think it i reasonable to think they could do this to themselves on purpose to allow themselves to better sneak around Star Fleet. I think it will be fun to see if these are really a rogue segment as Worf believes, separate from the Great Link/Founders. If that's the case, maybe we will need to go to the Gamma Quadrant to get their help. So far I am enjoying this season. But I am an easy mark for Star Trek. I enjoy it all. But I love the nostalgia on this one. Loved seeing Ro. Hope we see others. Including the "Most important person in the history of Star Fleet." Miles O'Brien.
  12. I might have to go back, but didn’t Beverly say that the La Forge Changeling had no DNA? It seems that’s the best way to scan for them then. Unless I misheard. Also, has Beverly sat down since she was hauled up to the bridge in Episode 2? Find that poor woman seat already.
  13. From what Coma!Chm said, Coma!Eddie flamed out after his parents took Christopher away. So he was no longer there or pat of the group at least. It sounded like he was not even at the 118 anymore. Anyone else get a Nate Fisher from Six Feet Under vibe from Coma!Bobby?
  14. I don’t know if they could do an episode without pre-tapes at this point. They need that time to change sets and costumes. They would need a lot more commercials. Or a lot of simple sets. If they do try it, I bet they settle by the following Monday.
  15. I loved this episode. But I can see some of the issues people have pointed out. Particularly with Sass and his love of drama. One of my favorite things was Jay using Sam’s eye line as “echo-location” to find Flower. Speaking of Flower though, I would not mind if she faded a bit into the background of the next few episodes. There has been a lot of focus on her of late. I’d love a bit of movement on Alberta’s murder investigation though.
  16. Looks like there is supposed to be a new episode that night. (First after the next break) My guess is they picked that date so they can get their work done before the episode, and picket 30 Rock when people line up. Assuming they don’t make a deal before then.
  17. In anticipation of starting the DS9 episodes of The Greatest Generation, I started a rewatch today. I never noticed there was no Wormhole in the opening credits of the first episode. Enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time 30 years ago.
  18. So what’s the time line here? Beverly says she got pregnant just before she left the Enterprise. Which time? 20 years ago? He looks too old for that. 40 years ago? That means she dropped him in London and went back to the Enterprise for 15 plus years? I really don’t think I could accept that change of character.
  19. This is how I described it to a friend. "Very good. Lots of humor. And great pew pewing." Sometimes all you need is some pew pewing.
  20. One of the features of a show like this is that the information has to trickle out. (Like Will getting up to pee every few hours.) So I’m willing to wait for more details. And I’m open to different possibilities. But they better give some answers soon. I feel like this was the first time we saw the Picard we all know and love from TNG, when he took command. That was the first time this series that he was really in his element. On the bridge of a Federation starship. I hope we get more of that Jean Luc.
  21. Was there something different about the 2019 Teen Tournament that they had more players that the usual tournament? Where are they getting 27 players when usually there are only 15 in the quarterfinal round? I too said Portugal. I had completely forgot Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was elected.
  22. To be fair, what was considered “family friendly” in the 80s and “family friendly” today is far different. I remember watching NC live from season 3 and I was 8 then. Were there things I didn’t get? Absolutely. Just like there were things in Bugs Bunny cartoons I didn’t get. “Family friendly” meant things for kids to laugh at, and things for the grownups to laugh at separately, or for different reasons. NC was dinner time viewing in my house on WGN every night when it went into syndication. (Before that we watched Monty Python reruns. We had good taste in comedy. ) I’ve enjoyed this series so far, including this episode. I agree it needs work though. I’d like more from Neil. Maybe another bailiff or some other main cast member. The only one who absolutely doesn’t work for me is the ADA. I don’t know if that character can be redeemed for me. I would not be sad if they changed there. Hopefully as the series progresses they can grow a stable of frequent flyers, like the reserve judge. But that takes time. And I’m willing to give them time for now. And hopefully they will take note of all the responses to the show and make adjustments. Do we know if the entire season is in the can yet? If not, we could see changes yet this season.
  23. My favorite theory about the bad guys is that they are the “Nubbin Bug” aliens from the first season episode Conspiracy. It explains the “Trust no one” and that they always have different faces. They certainly would have an antipathy towards Picard and the Enterprise crew. I’m wondering if the “Red Lady” stuff might not even be related, yet. As to the new son, think he must either be a clone or foundling. I cannot imagine Beverly giving birth and nobody knew about it. He’s about 30 years old, which would put this around the time of Generations. This is putting aside any age issue in her part. (According to Memory Alpha, she was 40 when the show started, which would have been close to 40 years before the events of this episode.)
  24. I can. And that picture is quite graphic. The Puritan Ghost would love it.
