  1. I'm super late to this conversation, but I finally went strictly to streaming and now have the Magnolia Network, so I'm catching up on the episodes of the castle & hotel. I love everything about the castle! Who wouldn't want to live there? It looks like it's on a busy street, so you'd probably feel like you're on display, but it had a huge yard. There appeared to be some interesting buildings adjacent to the castle on that property. I liked the reno overall. I wasn't too crazy about the darkness of the card room since it's in the basement. I understand that she wanted a certain mood in there, and if playing cards, you don't need spotlights, but being in the basement it was just a little too dark for my taste! I liked how they lightened up other areas of the basement though. The hotel is beautiful. I'd love to go and spend a week there and just wander around the hotel, see the Silos and visit the surrounding area. I'm sure it's quite expensive, so I'll mark that off of my wish list of things to do! I can picture women's groups or bridal shower parties having luncheons in Bertie's restaurant. It had a feminine touch to it. JoAnna has been designing spaces that feel "moody," and I think that worked well with the library space. Wasn't too sure about the black walls, but it seemed to work there. She has been stuck on dark green for a while now (cabinets/bathroom tiles/woodwork), so that gets a little old, but it all looked nice. The area rugs in the hotel rooms could be a safety issue, especially for someone using a cane or walker. They might want to suggest that they get one of the rooms with the wall-to-wall carpet. I liked the design on that carpet. I thought it was clever to combine the design of an area rug into a full carpet. I think that JoAnna, Chip and their entire team did a fabulous job with the hotel. YMMV.
  2. You must not know how the Bucs play!! They can be great one week, and tank the next, especially on MNF. The Bucs could be ahead 42-0, with the other team having a rookie QB, and the other team almost always comes back and beats us! Even though I was aware of how badly the Eagles have been playing, with the Buc's track record, I wouldn't have been surprised to see the Eagles rally to win. Speaking of that, the Eagles team looked so defeated. There was no urgency on their sideline. I'm not sure what the guy said who was mouthing off to Jalen Hurts on the sideline, but I hope he didn't blame him for the loss. That was a team failure. We love Jalen (Roll Tide!), and root for him when he's not playing the Bucs. His O-line didn't protect him very well. I felt bad for him.
  3. Well damn! Color me shocked! Thank you, Bucs, for not choking on MNF! Fire the cannons!
  4. There's an Asian realtor I like (I can picture her face, but I can't recall her name.) She's had a few clients who complain about everything when she shows them a property, and it seems like it hurts her feelings. People compare properties to ones in the US that are far more superior (in their minds) to what they're being shown, and I'm sure she takes that as a slam on her culture. People should have a little more tact when being shown properties in another country.
  5. We would've tuned in if we already had Peacock, but we don't, and we didn't want to bother signing up for it for just one game (which I'm glad I didn't see!). We kept up with the score on ESPN.com. However, I think it's a dick move by the NFL to expect people to sign up for a service (no matter how cheap it may have been) just to see their team play. It's as if they're trying to squeeze every last nickel and dime from the fans and that's pathetic.
  6. Oh, man. The Bucs almost always tank on Monday night games.
  7. That's John Maddens kind of football!!
  8. Note to Annemarie: It's not called a "small" esophagus. One can develop a stricture/narrowing of the esophagus. It's pretty common. It's not necessarily from an eating disorder either. Maybe she doesn't see this in her part of the medical profession, but I seriously doubt that she couldn't Google an intelligent answer on esophageal issues, or meet up with a gastroenterologist, he/she would be happy to explain it.
  9. I wonder how much longer of a commute it is in comparison to the more expensive apartment. With gas prices high, the shorter commute with a more expensive apartment might've evened out.
  10. I'm sure you all have heard that one of Michael Strahan's daughters recently went through treatment for brain cancer. Interview with Isabella & Michael. He was absent from hosting on Fox NFL a while back and they couldn't say why, but his daughter wants to share her story now in order to help others. She seems to be doing pretty well, but still has more treatment in the near future. I wish her well.
  11. Hopefully the commute won't be a bad one. I've had 30-40 minute commutes that were absolute traffic hell, and then other commutes that were a breeze. It's always great saving money on the house/apartment, but if you're in traffic hell for over an hour a day, sometimes that isn't worth it!!
  12. Saban will be around in some capacity for a while to support the team. After that, who knows, we might see him in some other capacity with college football, so you can continue to hate him! :) Thanks to Saban & Ms. Terry for everything they did for the community of Tuscaloosa and for all of the collegiate stores across the state that prospered because of what he did for Bama football. So happy to have been along for the ride. It's been a lot of fun.
  13. His wife said that he "somehow looked good" on his online profile (that's how they met). How rude!! Then at the end of the episode she told him to tell her that he loves her. It was in a Linda Blair, Exorcist, kind of way. Yikes! He also mentioned that she'll pick his socks up right away whenever he puts them on the floor, and that bugs him. Say what? Put your dirty socks in the hamper where they belong, or if clean, put them in the dresser drawer they belong in. Sheesh. She's never seen a urinal, and didn't seem to know what one was? How odd. I liked the house they ended up with. Glad to see the kids enjoying the yard.
  14. I'm not surprised, given the reports the past few weeks from "credible" sources that this really would be his final season. It's sad, but I sure appreciate the years we've had him as our coach. I wish him well. It's funny though that some of the Auburn fans are losing their minds over it! I think a few went and rolled Toomer's Corner. One of my friends - who absolutely loathes Bama - couldn't wait to get home so he can gloat in the Bama fans' sadness about it. Funny that Saban occupies that much of their brains. Some of them are more upset than some of us are!! I guess it's not really bothering me because I had a bit of a crappy day, and I'm getting sick, so football isn't foremost on my mind at the moment. Bigger fish to fry, as it were. Roll Tide and we'll see what next season brings. He already has a statue. Ms. Terry needs one though!!
  15. It certainly does, but not in a good way. :(
  16. I've talked to a few people over the years who have been there for Bama games, and they all had a good experience. It looks smaller than some of the college stadiums, but I see that the capacity seating is 91,000, so it must be bigger than it looks on TV! The stadium that seems to be a big pain in the arse to get in and out of is in Atlanta (SEC Championship game). My previous boss was not impressed with the new stadium. He said that it wasn't as "fan-friendly" as the previous one. Aaron shouldn't have said what he did, but Kimmell seems to have free reign on his show to talk shit about prominent people without repercussions. Some comedians don't like it when the tables are turned on them. (Again, I'm not condoning what Aaron said).
  17. There was a separate bathroom. It didn't have a shower though.
  18. We just finished rewatching the series. Ma Clavin moved to Florida, then moved back in with Cliff in his small apartment. The dynamic between them was funny to watch. Although quite overbearing, you can't but love her! So true. In one of the last episodes, they finally had Sam come to terms with being a sex addict. He went to one group meeting, so there wasn't much else discussed in that regard. Sam & Carla were talking about his history with women and although she always joked about sleeping with him, she told him that she could never marry him (or someone like him) because he was a hound dog. That part of Sam's storyline got old really quick. I liked Kirstie when she was on the show, but unfortunately by the last season, they made her very whiney and pathetic. She played the part well though! I wish she would've remained strong like in the first season. It was worth rewatching though because I had forgotten a lot of the storyline. So glad Sam didn't end up with Diane.
  19. When they were in the living room, I saw what appeared to be that front door with a lot of locks on it, but that might've been a different door. It was hard to tell. That's what I was thinking, but if it's a squeaky floor, that's not going to help!! She said that she doesn't cook very much, so maybe she won't be spilling anything on the carpet. At least it wasn't a shag carpet! The realtor said it looked like vinyl flooring.
  20. Yeah, us Bama fans were disappointed in the outcome of the game, especially the parts where our team shot themselves in the foot, but Michigan's defense was firing on all cylinders. We lost in OT, and it wasn't a blowout, so I can live with that! We didn't expect this season to go as well as it did, so there's still lots to be proud of with our team, especially beating AU & UGA. :) Saban said that some FSU fans texted Ms. Terry and were mad at her because their team didn't make the final 4. I don't know how they got her number (they did the same to Saban), but that's where they crossed the line. Going after a coach's wife is just classless. Those fans need to grow up! Roll Tide and to those who will be watching the championship game, I hope it's a good one!
  21. Her going on and on about the carpeted kitchen got on my nerves! Granted, I wouldn't like that either, but it looked more like indoor/outdoor carpet, so it probably won't be so bad, and it'll help keep her a little warmer! That looked like it was a big home at one time that got chopped up into apartments. Maybe the kitchen used to be a living space and they put the kitchen in there and didn't want to remove the carpet. It looked fairly new though. I wonder why they couldn't use the original front door either. So many questions!! I'd love to know the history of the place. Since she didn't mention "entertaining guests" in the beginning, I was surprised when she had a cow about the one apartment not having a separate bathroom with a shower and how a guest would have to go through her room to bathe. I'm assuming it would be a close friend or relative visiting, so having them use your shower for a few days really shouldn't be a big deal. She was a good sport though about the ground floor, not a ground floor apartment! It looked too cramped though. I love the balcony on the apartment she chose. That looked very relaxing. I'm glad she's happy.
  22. Almost every house hunter talks about hosting guests & family. I wonder just how many people they actually end up hosting! I would've rather had the apartment to myself, but hopefully he's happy with his roommates and the place he chose worked out just fine. I was more concerned when he laughed and said that he hoped he can find a job in his field of study. That's something you need to have some idea about before spending all of that money on college!
  23. I used to follow Angel & Dick on FB, but I've just skimmed over those posts for a long time. I lost interest once their show wasn't being aired. I hope they can keep their castle. I'll pay more attention to their posts!
  24. Mr. Chat & I jinxed it by saying how the team was looking much improved the past few weeks. I knocked on a wood table after I said it though!! ;) Sometimes the Bucs can beat the crap out of N.O., and other times they just completely fall apart. We didn't have much hope for them even if they made it into the playoffs, so at least our expectations aren't completely crushed! I don't think they'd last one quarter against the Ravens! We love the Bucs, and we're always cautiously optimistic when they play, but we're realists too, given their record this year and how inconsistently they've played.
