Maybe because Marcia had been on the outs and was now back established as, at least in legal terms, the wife. I always thought Roman was the youngest as well, but HBO lists Shiv as the youngest Roy child.

I don't believe we've been told. What we learned in the first season was that Barry was a depressed U.S. Marine and Afghanistan veteran, depressed because he killed an innocent man. Fuchs is a friend of the family, saw Barry's depression, and mentored him into becoming an assassin. Apparently they made good money until Barry found Mr. Cousineau's class and decided he wanted to be an actor and not an assassin anymore. The problem with those sequences, especially about his childhood, you don't know how much of that is real memory, and how much is his mind fracturing on him. I'm not sure why Barry decided to make a deal with the FBI, maybe he sees a chance to save Sally, if not himself?

I think the actress is very good at making me NOT want to empathize with her. LOL. Sarah Snook is great.

Poor little Shiv. (Not.) I'm not sure why I can never dredge up any sympathy for her, but this episode didn't help. I get that she, as the youngest, and a girl, has had to fight for every bit of recognition she can from the family. That's why she was working for someone else when we met her. But she has no patience, blurts out the wrong thing at the wrong time, all in a bid to get someone to recognize her brilliance, which really may not exist. She's in a bad place (emotionally) in that her marriage, which supported her in some way, is done, by her choosing. (Tom's betrayal was a result of her treatment of him.) Now she's pregnant, but not sure what that means. Will she go forward with the pregnancy? I guess we will find out. She probably does not have a great idea of what being a mother can be, given her relationship with her own mother (another betrayer). This episode was very interesting to watch as the siblings start to realize they may not want the deal, but want to keep Waystar for themselves (or Kendall, wanting it for himself). Even though Logan was not physically present, he was very much still influencing everyone's behavior. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series.

I'm very sorry for your loss, iMonrey. I got the impression that Tom offered to do it, or asked at least if they wanted him to do it, so they could say good bye. While they found it awkward, they also wanted that opportunity. I had a friend pass away from a stroke this past winter. She was found at home, unconscious, and was in the hospital for a couple of days before she passed. The hospital set up a phone line so family members could call her and talk to her, even though she was unconscious. I believe the calls came through on a speaker. The idea was that they didn't know what she would or would not hear, but this would provide the opportunity for people to tell her they loved her, in case she could hear them.

It absolutely depends on the market, but this house is in Newton or Brookline, very expensive and desirable areas, so no house would have sat for as long as Delilah's seems to have (time is irrelevant on this show, as Charlie was an infant when Delilah took her to France, but is now 5(?), but they act like the house has been empty for only a year or something). No house would sit like that for 3-4 years. And certainly, there would not have been any little "touches" of filling nail holes required. Currently the market around here is cash offers, not pending on inspection, if you want to buy the house. It is a seller's market, no doubt about it. And in those neighborhoods, it has always been a seller's market. One time, that I remember, we closed on a house, but didn't take possession for two weeks, because as the selling realtor said, "They need time to move out." She even said, you don't have a mortgage payment the first month any way. I about went over the desk after her. We ended up making them pay rent for two weeks, and we wanted a walk through after it was empty, in case there was damage done during the move out. She called us New Yorkers. LOL! We were from Minnesota! Any other house we've ever closed on, we took possession the day of closing.

Very well done. And then the show sets up a Valentine's Day dance where most of the adults of smallville attend, and it's super hokey again. Lois's cancer storyline has been so well done, there must be separate writers for it.

She has not had the baby yet. She is pregnant now.

She's chosen Logan often, but I agree, she begged for Logan to spare Tom, at the end of season 2, so she wins some points for that. By the end of season 3 though, Tom realized she was not planning to include him in the takeover, he was mostly an afterthought, so he traded his marriage for moving closer to Logan. I still thought her response to Tom's measured one was ridiculous, but I will admit I am biased.

Didn't someone come to the office, but we weren't shown who, only the secretary looking up from her desk, before the scene switched? Is it possible the sweet secretary is involved with spying on them? (Don't yell at me, I just wondered at that scene.) And what the heck was Brooks into? Why dump fruit and veg to rot? I'll have to do a re-watch.

Another moment that got me was when the Three finally informed Connor, and Roman grabbed Connor's hand and hugged it for a moment, as a gesture of love and support.

As devastated as Shiv was, she still got the jealous angry look when she thought Tom was getting ahead of her with preparing a statement. And the look she gave when he responded to her snark with a gentle remark about it being a very tough day was just so ... mean. Like Tom can't be affected by Logan's death? Tom doesn't have feelings worth thinking about per Shiv. As sorry as I was for her devastation at the news, I still saw a flicker of the selfishness she has about herself. I don't know if she can be redeemed in my eyes of deserving happiness, or peace.

Roman is my favorite, and this episode he was the only one of the siblings that went onto the plane to see his father. I liked that very much.

Well, someone said last week that knowing HBO shows and weddings, he had some concerns about how Connor's wedding might play out, but didn't suspect a bloodbath. LogAn Roy died! I was not prepared for that. This was an epic episode, beautifully shot, and best performances from the cast. I think it will be remembered as one of the best episodes of television ever.

It just seems a bit too neatly finished to have Vadic vanquished and no enemy in view but there are still two episodes left. I know that the big celebration Star Fleet is preparing for is in danger because there are changelings throughout the organization, so, I'm guessing that no one is really safe at the moment. (Safe from dying.) I enjoyed this episode more than the previous one, but I'm ready to find out what the mystery is about Jack and why Vadic called him baby boy.

Murdoch Mysteries - General Discussion
cardigirl replied to The Crazed Spruce's topic in Murdoch Mysteries
While I enjoyed the last two episodes very much, I'm pretty nervous about what is going to happen to the show next week. I've missed Henry's wife this season, but it's been a strange season with a lot less full cast participation than in previous seasons. I guess we will find out soon! (About the characters and about the show.) Also, for the more observant of us, what on earth was Murdoch having for breakfast? Is he known for lining his food up like that? I haven't noticed that as a character trait before. Just wondering. -
I think they own a condo. I am someone who liked their idea of renting the home rather than selling it as a means of keeping it in the family and providing some income for dad. And in my suburb of Boston, $4000 a month would be low to rent an entire house. With all of the universities in the area and international businesses, there is quite a market for long-term rentals from families who are only going to be in the area for a couple of years. My neighbor went to France to teach for a year and rented her house out to a visiting professor while she was gone. Covered her expenses. Her mortgage was paid off. There are expenses, and if one is smart, one hires a rental company to handle all of the rent collection, property upkeep, vetting renters, etc. On the Cape, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket, lots of people buy homes to rent out for summers, because they can make so much more than their mortgages per year on the rent from two to three months in summer. It allows them to obtain a property now, and finance it until they choose to live there and not rent it out. I'm sure many of them took a hit during the summer of 2020, when there was little to no travel going on. But overall, it's a well-established practice. Also, Rome's father's house looks pretty nice. I would say, in today's market around here, it would go for $800,000 to $1,000,000 very easily. Keeping it to rent means they keep the investment and finance dad's care. Then, when they need/want to, they can sell and will have had the additional investment time with the house. There was an article not too long ago about Boston now matching New York City with rental costs.

I think Logan's disgust was more for his spoiled kids (in his mind) in that they have never had to scratch for a living, like he did when he was starting out. He probably was looking down on the homeless guy, but he was also saying that his kids should be more grateful for the lives they've been GIVEN. He's exasperated by them. (And they, him.)

Shiv really bugged me this episode. Enjoyed everyone else though. If I'm rooting for anyone, it's Roman, Tom, and Connor. And Logan too. + Gerri. 😜

To be fair, Lana really upped the ante when she accused Sarah of reporting on her to Kyle. Yikes. I think the show is killing it this season. Love the storylines, and I wonder if the show would really go there with Lois dying? Everything about her cancer storyline felt true. Her reluctance to accept that her life is changing, her not wanting to be treated differently, because that makes the cancer more real. All of the others' reactions to her illness, it all rings true. I even like the storyline of Sarah seemingly losing her way, because her stable family is gone. She let Jordan go, although they are trying to be friends, she's not got a lot of support, except from her father. I can totally see a teenage girl and a mother getting worked up enough to say wounding things like "No wonder Dad cheated on you," and mom slapping her as a reaction. Is it good? No. Is it healthy? Of course not, but it's real and may lead to better communication (after a lot of angst). I've also been puzzled by Lana's hardness toward Kyle, when he clearly regrets his actions, wants to make things better, and is trying to be a good father. That she was hurt by his affair, I totally understand that. I also understand if she doesn't want to get back together with him, but she's been really harsh with him often, so ... I don't know if the show is trying to build sympathy for Kyle, or if there is something else or if I'm totally wrong in my read of Lana. I agree with others voicing the opinion that Kyle needs to know about Clark's true identity soon. One thing this show does too much of, it uses conversation as exposition for plot, and I would often rather see it onscreen that be told about it by a character. However, I'm really enjoying this season and looking forward to how things move forward.

Exactly my thoughts after I finished watching. I hope this isn't the vibe I feel when the show finishes.

I truly enjoyed it. All the snarkiness and petty jealousies that academics foster among themselves. It seemed that George really cared about Hank, so was Hank just paranoid? Or listening to that inner imposter-syndrome voice we all have? I'm also enjoying the supporting cast. There is some real depth to them and they are not just caricatures, at least not to me. I'm sticking with it.

Logan must be losing it, he would never have lost that bidding war last season. Poor Tom. I will always root for him, because Shiv has treated him very badly. That pitiful "gave it a go" by both of them at the end, so sad. A really big part of me wants to see Logan survive and continue winning. The kids drive me nuts. Well, I would like to see Roman win. I like him. I thought Connor was trying to use their wedding as a means of getting free news coverage for his campaign. Make it a spectacle to get reported.I'll have to watch that bit again. Glad the show is back!

Thank you! I am thoroughly enjoying this season of Picard, and I thought this episode was great. I guess that makes me a "memberberry." So be it. I loved the Attack Tribble, all the nostalgic touches, and I'm someone whose memory of the other series is cloudy at best. As for overly aged Jack, I like the actor. He played a thoroughly bad guy in Outlander, but he did it well. I'm not sure what the plan is for this character, but I'll watch Ed Speleers because he's great. As for poor Will, why would Deanna greet him like that after being taken prisoner or seeing him beat up? Seemed like a muted response at best. We shall see. I didn't care for Season 2 much, I liked Season 1 but tease my sister all the time that JLP is a robot. 🤣 I think this episode just proved me right. 🤖

OMG, thank you!!! And she delivered it perfectly! 😆
