  1. So I went into this movie not knowing the premise so the first scene was shocking. But I did enjoy it for what it was. Mark Rylance was nightmare fuel. Just so unsettling.
  2. I stopped watching Jersey Shore after the second season but I've always felt with most of the Jersey Shore people that they way the show blew up really gassed those kids up. They have a bit of a big head as a result but that they're all very sweet, kind people at heart. So, I think it's both. Vinny is a genuinely nice person but sometimes he gets caught up in his celebrity.
  3. She really did have a bad night. Watching her redemption dance I figured she'd get a lower score like Shangela and Wayne. She certainly left the door open for the judges to award only Charli with the lead. I would have ranked them 4. Gabby who made obvious mistakes and looked awkward in both dances. I wish this show would stop with Cell Block Tango. It's never as exciting as the Fosse choreography. 3. Wayne who looked tired and overextended but did turn it on in his freestyle. I think he loves dancing and entertaining a crowd but he was tired. 2. Shangela who is my personal fav and had the best freestyle but does struggle with her ballroom technique a bit. She'll come out of this season the best. Her ability to book larger venues and command more money is a real win. 1. Charli who doesn't put a foot wrong and I can appreciate her talent even if it doesn't move me personally. Like I said above, I think if there had been time to vote after the freestyles instead of before, Shangela would have done better in the results. She was the moment and the only one I saw trending on what's left of twitter. I do think the in-episode vote has dramatically changed the show not for the better.
  4. After sleeping on it, the thing that leaves me the most disappointed isn't Charli's win as she is an excellent dancer. It's the fact that with in-episode voting the Freestyle isn't the moment it used to be. On the night we said goodbye to Cheryl, the person probably most responsible for making the Freestyle the epic event we expect, I would bet that most of the votes had already been cast before a single Freestyle began. I would bet that Charli already had a big enough vote lead to win no matter what happened in the second round. I get that they need to trim the budget but we did get one week this season where we got a Monday/Tuesday of shows. I wish they had saved that for this week and given us a real finale results show. If they're willing to pay cast and crew for one two episode week a season, it shouldn't be a random week in the middle of the season. Then we could have had voting open until a set time today, we could have had more time for Len, more for Cheryl and more for the other contestants. More pro dances, a longer opportunity to plug the tour etc. And a chance to let the Freestyle matter.
  5. Even if she doesn't get the Mirrorball, Shangela won because her bookings just went through the roof!
  6. Mark's freestyle was some self-indulgent dance nerd shit. Like, it was technically impressive but kind of a snore. I hope Charli loved it at least.
  7. I really felt for Gene. He's read up about something cool, knew what he was talking about and got a really poor experience in exchange for a lot of money. If I spent $90 and got what he got, I'd be upset too. Gene kept trying to make it work. It's the least bratty he's been in a long time.
  8. Yikes. Someone needs to play the first few seasons of this show to Kit because Bell has been all of those things ten times over. Or at the very least, play those seasons for the writers. I know they're going for growth but he's some of those things right now getting Conrad to give him a prescription rather than be honest with Kit and his doctors about how he's doing. At the very least they're bringing up his HODAD days. And Jessica, again, shows poor moral fiber by lying for Bell to get him out of a mess of his own making. Devon lying for Bell was also a very poor decision.
  9. The very best part of this episode were who I assume were AJ MacLean's daughters waving and dancing in their seats pulling focus from Tyra. Anything that takes focus away from her is welcome.
  10. I got as far as "merrily verily" and had to turn it off. I'm sure rowan is lovely in person but they are way too showboaty for me.
  11. Like others said, Vinny made the rookie mistake of picking his stars and not his pros. Trevor picked second and he got both Mark and Witney and already had the advantage of Emma. Vinny's team should have had Val but with Val out there was no one there to push the team into doing something interesting. Artem and Gleb as the most experienced pros? They were fucked.
  12. That is likely the producers dream line-up. Putting the super-champs together at the end would probably draw a decent sized audience.
  13. Except for Phoebe, every character came from some level of money and had support. Rachel's dad was a doctor, Ross and Monica's parents were what rich people call comfortable, Chandler's mom was basically Danielle Steele and he used his money to prop up Joey until Joey found success in acting. Even Joey's dad had a solid business and his family lived in a nice house. Plus, every one of them was about five years out of undergrad. (Ross probably was the most recent one out of school with his PhD) Their level of wealth or not felt very real to me. Not at their parents level and sometimes struggling because of life events but also able to save, stable and benefitting for support networks that give them legs up on the average person. As for Phoebe, she's had about ten years of adulthood to build up a professional network and set herself up in life. She was never the richest of the friends but the show didn't pretend she was. But I never got the sense that Phoebe was poor, just that she, along with Joey and Rachel in the early years, weren't as financially stable as the others.
  14. Once we got to that point, yes but I really blame Mark for failing Rachel and allowing the situation to get that bad. Rachel took a bus with no warning from Milwaukee (is that right? I haven't watched those episodes in a while now) to Chicago because she was not happy at her mom's after her Jennifer married some guy. That's not regular teen rebellion and Mark never probed deeper with Rachel or took her to therapy or anything. There were signs that she was struggling and he was way too hands off. She was clearly a teen in crisis for some reason and Mark never bothered to figure out what that reason was. Rachel fucked up but I still felt that her parents failed her.
  15. I honestly have to wonder if Jessica is an idiot or just morally bankrupt. She's been in the OR with Ian twice now where he's been clearly compromised in some fashion and has said nothing about it to any one. Add that to her working with Bell when he was full HODAD (I know the show wants us to forget but I never will) and helping him cover up his errors and I think she might be evil because she is apparently supposed to be good at her job.
  16. I will say that I do think that anyone's first solo day with newborn twins would struggle and be overwhelmed. That is hard and even someone super-capable, responsible and mature would struggle to come up with systems to manage two newborns with differing needs on day one. Plus, Padma herself would still be recovering from surgery. She needs paid support for at least a few months while her body heals up. I really don't understand what is happening with Conrad and Billie? He's been oblivious all this time so why suddenly is he picking up on her feelings. If anything has changed it's that she's less moon-eyed now than she was at the end of last season. It doesn't make sense. I'll stick around for the Kit/Bell wedding but I need to break up with this show.
  17. The good Olivia provides: Her Special Salad Dressing Recipe It seems rather basic to me.
  18. You know what really wears me down? Tyra's constant interjections during the judging. It's awful and it ruins the flow of the show. I hate it. Is Charli neurodiverse in some fashion? I ask because she never makes eye contact ever with anyone. Or the camera. She seemed totally checked out during the dance off. I'm so confused about Heidi's prom year and what she called her prom song. Cyndi Lauper was a creature of the 80s. The early 80s even. I know the show makes them say dumb things sometimes but that was especially odd. Also, while we're talking music, I don't think I should have to listen to an abuser while watching my fun dance show even if Jordin dueted with him. And making a weak voiced band member sing Kelly Clarkson is just mean. Shangela got closer to the scores she deserves but I still feel like they're underscoring her and nitpicking in a way they don't with other contestants. For me, Shangela and Wayne are the people I look forward to seeing because they're fun. I want to watch this show to have fun and Shangela always delivers. Gabby going on about being cool and popular was so off-putting. And if that was supposed to be jokes, they did not land. I'm sad to see Joseph go. I think he's a better dancer than Vinny and Jesse who are still there and maybe even Trevor, Jordin and Heidi. And could have grown to be even better still. I think his potential was exciting.
  19. The show has always had something pointed to say about the medical system but the shift in the past couple of years from a drama with a pov to an after school special has been unfortunate. This was unbearable. I do not care about Cade or her father. I have not learned his name as he is not long for this show. The fact that her primary concern was what it would mean for her family and not a child who could die if her father operated high and something went wrong tells me all I ever need to know about her. Does this giant hospital with a history of being a private surgically focused institution really have so few ORs? Are Leela and AJ the only surgeons who work there? How is AJ not off on the day his babies are scheduled to be born? With someone else on the scheduled who could step in for the emergency surgeries coming in? It was a scheduled c-section! I actually did feel for Padma as things kept getting pushed back and then as she had the abruption. Giving birth is not safe and being anxious and wanting it over with is very understandable. And I am worried about her now. She did seem detached from the baby news at the end of the episode. What she went through was traumatic and Devon did his best but was not the person she wanted by her side.
  20. Emma and Sasha aren't exactly front page of People people and not everyone is as online as the fanbase here. There have to be plenty of viewers who were just confused about the whole situation because they don't know about the separation. That to me was what made it awkward. People who knew they were together because the show made a fuss now thinking Emma is flirting with her dance partner while her husband is right over yonder on the other side of the ballroom.
  21. I really don't think it's that complicated. Sheldon has a low understanding of social norms so he'll speak out in church. He has a very strong code of right and wrong and what was happening to Mary was very clearly wrong so Sheldon pointed it out. Sheldon is also a know it all who loves to point out when someone makes a mistake so he added that on too. I'm guessing the only reason he didn't do so sooner was whatever Missy said to him offscreen to get him to go along to church and support Mary in the first place. Sheldon isn't going to try to prove that his opinion is valid. He's Sheldon; of course his opinion is valid!
  22. I think the point is that nobody here is a good guy. People make morally compromised choices all the time for reasons they can justify to themselves but that doesn't make them right. Thony has "reasons" for doing what she does but that doesn't make it okay. Garrett slept with his CI and puts her life in danger and he'd say it's because he cares about her but it's still wrong. Arman probably didn't have many opportunities in his life but resorting to a life of crime isn't fine. For me the show isn't about finding the "good guy" and wanting them to stop the "bad guys." It's about watching complex people navigate morally difficult situations and seeing how they all change as a result.
  23. She really does seem too put together for all their drama. I'm glad to have Catherine back. She adds serious gravitas and is a good match for Maxine.
  24. The only thing I've got is that NSYNC performed at the Superbowl?
  25. Since they're not expanding, do they get the original free month's rent that was offered? I worry so much about the Belcher's finances.
