  1. Yep, the judges submit their scores as soon as the dance is done before they start their comments. Watch Carrie Ann - she is the one who collects the scores from the other judges and passes them to the producer who runs the scores to whoever does the graphics. Sometimes you can see her handing them over if someone takes too long to decide. Also it has happened where a judge grabs the wrong paddle but its the score that is submitted after the dance that counts.
  2. What I got out of this episode was that Alyson Hannigan was absolutely correct to tell Joss Whedon that she shouldn't do any dancing in the musical episode of Buffy. I'll be cheering for Jason Mraz. He went for it in a way that most celebrities don't in the first week when nerves are such a big factor. He's joyous. I also feel like Xochitl, Ariana, Lele and Mira are all going to be great. I think for an older competitor, Barry Williams has potential to make it farther than most older contestants which would be fun. Tyson was someone I expected to be stronger so that was a disappointment. I don't really know anything about Ariana and the scandal around her beyond her basic description but I do know about her revenge dress and I thought it was great how costuming here referenced it. Harry and Rylee may be good. I couldn't even tell because I was so distracted by that version of Rock Your Body. It felt like it was so much faster than the original. I think it's rather garbage that they didn't mention at all that Matt Walsh had stepped back from the show in solidarity with the WGA and had much less rehearsal time. I know that it was his choice but I think people may have been willing to cast him a few votes to see what his potential could be if he had the same amount of time as everyone else. I just want Adrian Peterson and Jamie Lynn to go home but I fear both will be around for a while. And him first since he's leagues worse than her as a human but I don't enjoy awful people on this light, fun dance show. I don't know why the casting continues to do this. Except I watch so I guess I do know why they do this. I'm looking forward to the tribute to Len that they said was coming in a few weeks. I hope they extend invitations to everyone involved with the show to participate. Tom especially should at least be given the chance but there have been so many co-hosts and cast members who left the show under not the best circumstances and I hope the producers aren't petty about this. Even Tyra, who I hate, should be invited to participate.
  3. I too like Bishme but it was pretty clear who was winning when his finale storyline was a heartstring-tugger like grieving his sister while Laurence's was "what to do with that purple fabric?" and Brittany's was "making elevated athletic-wear just like all season long." The weight of those stories was so unbalanced that there was zero doubt in my mind who was winning. The big poofy tulle dress has been a fashion staple forever at this point. Christian has this one for sale right now. It's not a new concept in the slightest but I do think Bishme's was well done. The waist hit at a sweet spot proportionally, the tulle wasn't too big or too small and the bodice was interesting visually. Eight days was way too tight for eight looks, model casting, the hair and makeup commercials/consultations and whatever behind the scenes stuff that also takes up time we don't see. It didn't leave any time to think about the looks, edit, start over if something wasn't working. I think everyone had a few duds in their collections and that was because there just wasn't enough time. Even if they'd given them two weeks it probably would have resulted in much stronger work. They had to go and buy everything on the first day. Who even had time to conceptualize at that point? They both have been joking around all season with a hint of flirting. I think they're friendly and they're both comfortable with how they interact with each other. I would love to see new judges. I think Nina and Elaine are redundant. Two editors? They're coming at this from the same angle. Brandon just feels very disengaged. They need a new designer, only one of Nina or Elaine (and I'd prefer to keep Nina) and someone who works in a different area of fashion. Either someone who does construction, someone from the CFDA, a fashion photographer, someone in high end retail, an accessories designer. There are some real options out there who could bring something more to the table than judges who are often absent or Elaine who picks a favourite and then is a booster rather than a judge.
  4. Tom needs Greg to be his pain sponge. Greg was an executive assistant but he's probably end up as a senior advisor with a huge raise. Tom will take care of him because Greg can actually be his outlet for emotions. It's telling that when Logan died, Tom only cried when he was on the phone with Greg. And I don't think that was just about Tom worrying about his own future. Crouching next to someone dying while CPR is happening is traumatic and he held it together for the kids but he could be open with Greg. He needs Greg as his release valve and their weird friendship works. I couple of thumbs. Not great but could have been way worse and Roman got very lucky.
  5. I don't know. Besides Roman having way to many sex hang ups, he's the one who could see that it was all bullshit. He's going to end up some weird mix of Ewan and Caroline now that he's let go of Logan. The Ewan part will the the guy alone, far from his family and estranged from them. The Caroline part will be that he will swan around luxurious places (I don't see him living in one place the way Ewan lives in Montreal. He loves those PJs.) He's going to be aimless and bitter but convince himself that he's happy.
  6. He doesn't even do that anymore. That's probably just fine for Tom. The truth is once you reach that level, the money and the future opportunities are so good that you don't even need to stay CEO for all that long to prosper. Tom is a rich, white man who has ascended to the absolute heights of power. Now, like Shiv, he'll always be okay.
  7. Sheldon isn't an idiot and even the worst interpretation of his personality would suggest he knows the difference between his Meemaw's house and his house. The place where all his stuff is. The stuff just last week he cared about too much to part with. The place where he lives and expects to return to in a few months with nothing untouched because he's that anal. His computer and trains are there. He knows the difference. Not to mention that he would know what house got hit when he returns home and his house is the exact same while Connie's house is not. So either this show isn't actually connected to TBBT or there's another tornado coming. I will never be convinced that Sheldon got objective facts wrong. Subjective things like George being a drunk (because to Sheldon any drinking is too much drinking) sure, but I am certain he can tell the difference between two different houses.
  8. If Connie doesn't start laundering her money through her cash intensive no inventory business I am going to lose it! Or at the very least buy a big safe. Even gun safe wouldn't draw too much attention and would be more secure than a box of Raisin Bran. She is maybe the dumbest criminal out there. Also, time for Georgie to start getting paid more. Connie is just sitting on stacks of cash and Georgie is still living in a garage? And needs a salary advance to pay for a ring. He should be asking for a bigger cut. Missy's pain and then her revelation at the end were done so well. I knew they weren't going to die but I was still scared for them. I'm not surprised Missy still snuck out of the house. Being grounded for the summer is a long time to not go out. I do hope she stopped smoking at least.
  9. My understanding after watching this episode is the deal is more like the Disney-Fox situation and ATN is being carved out and kept by Logan so Tom might not have to worry about Go Jo. That being said, if that's all Logan has, he'll be all over it and will make things even harder for Tom and Cyd.
  10. For a very, very weird reason I know who the Macaw is. There was a moment in his clue package where he's talking and takes a very noticeable gasp-y breath and my brain remembered.
  11. You rent them. Party supply companies often have them to rent.
  12. My guess, and obviously it's just a guess, is that he wanted to make sure the plane wasn't found. If it could be proven that he intentionally took down the plane, then if he had life insurance, that won't pay out. His estate might even be liable in wrongful death-type lawsuits. Plus there's the social stigma of being the kid of a mass murderer. Making sure the plane isn't found protects his family.
  13. On one level I hate Nate and his assholish ways but I do find the plot interesting and realistic. Nate spent two years watching Ted and Beard build a team and learned not one damn thing about it. That idiot line or whatever he called it will destroy morale. The only thing these players will unite around is a hatred for Nate. He's already is so much trouble and he has no idea. It's fascinating to watch. The sewer tour didn't bother me. Ted and Beard were right. Nothing positive was going to be accomplished in that practice with everyone in such an awful mood. Breaking out and teaching them some more about teambuilding was the very best use of their time. I wish Ted had explained himself better to Rebecca but I don't think he was wrong for calling the practice and using the time to strengthen the team. Ted does need to get a bit of killer instinct and a desire to win going but the foundation is a team that are all working together for the same goal. Roy and Keeley bum me out because these feels very artificial. Was Phoebe wearing her headband ridiculously low or is that the style with the youth of today? It just seemed like it was basically on her forehead. The Press Conference was masterful. Ted was nice because being nice is the right thing to do. You never lose the high ground by being kind. I honestly don't know if Ted fully understands how dark Nate is and just how much that approach was going to destroy him but I know he did have a sense of it and knew that it would win in the press at least. He was able to be true to himself and win. Hopefully not for the last time this season.
  14. I thought being inspired by Jackie pink suit was in such poor taste. Maybe that's an outfit we leave to history.
  15. This was pure trash. I feel for the families but this isn't some huge conspiracy and its wrong to act like those options are all equally viable. I do think Jeff Wise and de Chegney are awful people using a tragedy to promote themselves and make money. It's sad but the most likely cause was a pilot murder suicide. No one wants that to be true because its scary to think that every time people get on a plane that could happen but it could and does happen sometimes. We all want to believe that we can see when someone is in trouble but we can't. We all want to believe that killing over 200 people is the act of someone pure evil and they can't hide in plain sight but mental illness isn't that easy. I do think the Malaysian government was slow to act when the plane went missing. I do think they aren't being fully honest about the likelihood of Zaharie being the culprit and have suppressed some of his personal information because of liability. But that's not a conspiracy. It's incompetence and greed. Blaine Gibson was a bit doofy but he's right that the US, China, Malaysia, Australia etc. have not all gotten together to cover something up. A conspiracy on this scale is impossible. We may never get all the answers but I know this isn't it.
  16. Catherine was so out of pocket taking Hannah to a crime scene. Lindsey was correct to be upset. Just brutal. And I watched the original series and Catherine tried but Lindsey did not have an easy childhood because of many of Catherine's choices. What I really love is the friendship between Maxine and Catherine. They work so well together.
  17. Five doctors. (Or maybe six. What does Sammie's other dad do? He doesn't talk apparently.) So much shitty writing. I get that they wanted to wrap everything up but it was so cheesy and bad at the end. Billie was a glorified babysitter not the head of surgery. The announcement of Chastain being saved was so poorly done. I could keep picking out moments. There were plenty. I did enjoy the Ian and Bell scene at the end. That was well done at least.
  18. I don't think it sounds stupid but it does very much sound like a Rocky Horror rip-off. And considering the way the Chippendales went out of their way to not market to gay men, I'm not sure what the motivation would be for a man to create the perfect man? The calendar is a good idea but it would need some actual art direction to put it over the top. Like the shots of the one guy laying on the dining room table holding a rose in his mouth? Why a table and not a bed or a plush rug? Why was every shot taking place in bright sunlight? That's not the sexiest lighting. But Steve is so insecure that he can't let anyone get credit but himself and Nick does forget his place in the hierarchy. Hiring a whole band for a rock opera without taking to Steve first was crossing a line. Would it have done any harm to wait a week for Steve to come back? That being said, he's right that there's nothing proprietary about what he's doing and could easily just go off and do it himself. He wouldn't be able to recycle routines but he isn't doing that anyway. Steve and Nick need each other. No way does Nick have the business skills and Steve can't do the creative. This should have been a dream partnership but their egos are just so huge. It's tragic. Irene high on cocaine was the greatest thing. I don't think this show will ever top it.
  19. So I went into this movie not knowing the premise so the first scene was shocking. But I did enjoy it for what it was. Mark Rylance was nightmare fuel. Just so unsettling.
  20. I stopped watching Jersey Shore after the second season but I've always felt with most of the Jersey Shore people that they way the show blew up really gassed those kids up. They have a bit of a big head as a result but that they're all very sweet, kind people at heart. So, I think it's both. Vinny is a genuinely nice person but sometimes he gets caught up in his celebrity.
  21. She really did have a bad night. Watching her redemption dance I figured she'd get a lower score like Shangela and Wayne. She certainly left the door open for the judges to award only Charli with the lead. I would have ranked them 4. Gabby who made obvious mistakes and looked awkward in both dances. I wish this show would stop with Cell Block Tango. It's never as exciting as the Fosse choreography. 3. Wayne who looked tired and overextended but did turn it on in his freestyle. I think he loves dancing and entertaining a crowd but he was tired. 2. Shangela who is my personal fav and had the best freestyle but does struggle with her ballroom technique a bit. She'll come out of this season the best. Her ability to book larger venues and command more money is a real win. 1. Charli who doesn't put a foot wrong and I can appreciate her talent even if it doesn't move me personally. Like I said above, I think if there had been time to vote after the freestyles instead of before, Shangela would have done better in the results. She was the moment and the only one I saw trending on what's left of twitter. I do think the in-episode vote has dramatically changed the show not for the better.
  22. After sleeping on it, the thing that leaves me the most disappointed isn't Charli's win as she is an excellent dancer. It's the fact that with in-episode voting the Freestyle isn't the moment it used to be. On the night we said goodbye to Cheryl, the person probably most responsible for making the Freestyle the epic event we expect, I would bet that most of the votes had already been cast before a single Freestyle began. I would bet that Charli already had a big enough vote lead to win no matter what happened in the second round. I get that they need to trim the budget but we did get one week this season where we got a Monday/Tuesday of shows. I wish they had saved that for this week and given us a real finale results show. If they're willing to pay cast and crew for one two episode week a season, it shouldn't be a random week in the middle of the season. Then we could have had voting open until a set time today, we could have had more time for Len, more for Cheryl and more for the other contestants. More pro dances, a longer opportunity to plug the tour etc. And a chance to let the Freestyle matter.
  23. Even if she doesn't get the Mirrorball, Shangela won because her bookings just went through the roof!
  24. Mark's freestyle was some self-indulgent dance nerd shit. Like, it was technically impressive but kind of a snore. I hope Charli loved it at least.
