  1. I always wonder if Jessa likes the Gaines, partly because they have a letter-theme going.
  2. I went to Macy's and the only kind of registry they offer is the wedding registry. I didn't see where you could chose a baby shower. I think as a society we should throw more showers to celebrate people moving out on their own, rather than waiting for them to get married.
  3. The mixer is a mini and only $330 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I found this registry on the invitation on their Facebook page, which has disappeared. Maybe the registry will too.
  4. I think it might be hard for Ben to support his family without some help, especially since they seem in-line to have a large family. It is hard for a family to live off one person's salary if that person makes minimal wage, even if they are frugal and have fewer kids. I do think that some years down the line Derick might be able to right this off as phase or fad, and be employable again if he dials back his views (at least in public, public being around anyone not immediate family).
  5. Jessa also announced the exact due date after Jill had the baby. I remember her date was her wedding anniversary November 1st. She also went over, and had a dangerous birth. Since then, they keep the dates vague.
  6. The picture is from last year so she was pregnant with their fifth kid. I don't think the dress is bad. Joy was wearing a matching dress last summer.
  7. I think they had two courtships that didn't work out including one that ended right before the wedding. Since then Steve has been trying to not tell anyone about a relationship before they get married.
  8. Two reasons 1. One the groom is indeed born after Steve had his vasectomy reversed. 2. To help push the Quiverful agenda onto this newlywed couple. The point is to make sure they will not use birth control and leave their family size up to God. I actually heard of vasectomy reversals being paraded in a church---- from survivors/former members of Gothardism and other Quiverfull groups. The Gothard affliated groups would parade the vasectomy reversal kids on the stage, to prove something about being blessed with more kids. I have never heard of this at wedding before. This is the first wedding that I know of which featured such a display. The term Quiverfull comes from psalm 127 and that psalm was read/quoted at the wedding.
  9. No that was a typo, and funny one at that. I loved our Foreman grill.
  10. .I've known at least three Italian American families where the oldest boy is Jr./III so I could see Jeremy Jr. for their boys. For a girl, I like Jeraldine. It starts with Jer like Jeremy, and it's usually spelled with a G (Geraldine) like Jinger. I could see them continuing with the J- names especially if they want a smaller family. That way they can carry on the family brand tradition. Geraldine reminds me of the Vicar of Dibley. :)
  11. And here comes the Josh rehabilitation tour! No!
  12. I don't see Jessa that way. I've seen talk about having babies, but she seems almost wistful about wanting a hospital bills. Jinger is the only one who seems in a line to have good prenatal care. She's certainly too far from Jill. That's the best part of this news. It doesn't surprise me given that Jinger never really found anything else to do in Laredo. They will need more stable income. I could see them having at 3-4 if not more. It does make me kinda sad. People who said Jeremy didn't want her to be too independent, might be right. I do part of the obsession with having so many kids (quiverfull, etc.) is to keep the woman at home in her place. If they stopped having babies for a while, it might give them to time to think, or look for things to do outside the home. I read recently that a large portion of any group (not just fundies) of people with kids can't stand it when people don't have kids or plan to have them. I'm sure the pressure from her family was enormous. I'm sure his family is excited too especially since all the kids are in their 30s. I wish them well and hope she has a safe pregnancy and delivery.
  13. It's a real concept, but it's a dumb one. The dumbest example goes to the Brady Girls Get Married, where Jan and her boyfriend of two years have to wait for Marcia, who fortunately picks someone up at a cafeteria.
  14. Yeah I agree. I would get tired of having it written everywhere I was dating someone I wasn't. Or someone who turned me down. Maybe she was in a getting to know, and she decided not to go further. His statement was a lot better than the last guy's statement, because he appears to be laughing at the picture of his underwear and not at Jana. He also appears to know a few things beyond bible verses that's nice. (Considering he wasn't born during Bush I, he must have been taught somewhere that read my lips was something Bush I said.) I'm confused by the reference to his brother Jacob. The last guy who was not courting Jana was Jacob Wilson. This guy is Caleb Williams. Does he have a brother Jacob or is somebody mixing them together?
  15. I could see both being true. On the one hand, the first trimester is different for different women. Some women gain a little, some a lot, some none at all, and some lose weight. I knew women who've lost weight due to morning sickness. Jill announced her pregnancy at about 8 weeks. Jessa started the trend of announcing at 3 months. I could see Joe and Kendra announcing earlier to try to drum up publicity for themselves.
  16. Happy New Year! (I admit I don't have high hopes for the year, but let's hope and pray things go better.)
  17. At the Bontrager/Maxwell wedding, they did a run through of their beliefs starting with quiverfull. Mr. Bontrager, who did most of the talking, said a whole thing about how it's bad to have too sixteen-year-olds be best friends, because neither has any wisdom. Wisdom comes from age and so you should have your kids' best friends be older than them. He then called out his kids' best friends, who were present and had them stand up. But Jeremy and Ben would be a perfect example.
