The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah
Temperance replied to SpaghettiTuesdays's topic in Counting On
I think/hope they won't do that again (court at 17), especially since they got burned last time. I think TLC would be reluctant to show a wedding for a person who isn't 18. -
We'll agree to disagree. If I was at a Catholic wedding, people pretended to lose the ring, I'd be annoyed because the wedding is long enough as it is. Maybe too cutsey. I guess it's a little not taking the service seriously. I thought the drone was kind of cute. As for bare feet, it's their feet. I probably would think it's impractical or too country for my taste, but it seems okay. I see nothing wrong with barefeet in church even though I've never been to church without shoes. Some people think it comes from Exodus 3:5 when God tells Moses to "take off his sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy gound." It did seem rather cold yesterday. Anyway her long skirts covered her feet for most of the service.

I'm Catholic too. I disagree that they are sooo disrespectful. I have been to enough Catholic weddings to say it is normal for there to be laughing, and filming during the wedding. The priest will say something funny and people will laugh, and hey that happens often enough except at funerals. I've also seen people laugh for other reasons at weddings, but I have to think about what they were laughing about. Yes in the church. At church I've done a fair amount of laughing or talking before/after the service. Talking during the ceremony/service etc. is of course rude, but as a Catholic we talk plenty before hand especially at weddings where we travel great distance to see people we only get to see a few times a year and afterwards during the endless pictures. Being on your phone isn't too respectful, more of a modern hazard. Weddings are special occasions, so a fair number of people have them filmed including Catholics.

I don't see that Maxwell example as a different school of thought. I think comes down to one is high-risk and one is low-risk. With the Duggars both Jill and Jessa should have been high risk after the difficult first-births. I agree Joy and Kendra will continue to follow in their foot-steps.

From what I have seen pregnant women are not allowed to get xrays. My friend who hurt her knee was not able to get an x-ray while pregnant. I gue In her case she knew she was pregnantabout 5/6 months along, and she was not allowed an x-ray. Someone I know was harrassed by a doctor after she broke her foot. Told by the doctor she couldn't have an x-ray if she was pregnant. She knew she wasn't, because she hadn't sex for a very long time (many, many years).

I've been lurking over at FreeJinger and have seen the various blogs. The happy couple does seem happy when they're together. His father is severe, but hopefully they can avoid him as much as possible. I'm so glad to see a fundie bride who's not a teen! Chelsey is twenty-six, almost twenty-seven. John seems to appreciate her family and bolder personality. They seem well-matched to me (not snark). I wish them happiness in marriage.

But none of them are persona non grata to TLC either. @Marigold Yeah a friend of mine is pregnant and she fell and hurt her knee. The first few days she could barely walk and drive and of course they can't do an x-ray. Fortunately when the swelling went down her knee wasn't broken just severly injured. I also think if you're going down a mountain used for skiing you should have a helmet like the skiers and snowboarders do, because landing on your head would be bad no matter what.

With your context, it goes with the Victorian (super-sexist) notion of the "Angel in the House." On the other hand, I have known people of both genders to jokingly or endearingly use the phrase so it didn't bother me as much.

The Duggars love pickles in part, because for some reason pickles are associated with pregnancy. Footrubs go with pregnancy just like pickles, since the feet get sore carrying extra-weight. Is that an old picture where Jill was pregnant?, because it would make a tiny bit more sense.

Actually when I was trying to figure out whether it was normal to not have Christmas day services, I came across an article about Christmas day is less popular to go to church than Christmas Eve. More and more people are skipping Christmas day, and spending it with family and going Christmas Eve. Our church has services both days, but Christmas Eve is more popular. Since Jeremy's congregation is about 30-50 people, one service is probably enough.

But Jill had some mid-wife training. I'm not saying she's a midwife, but she did have some training. It's kind of a like having degree in law without passing the bar or finishing law school. Despite that she doesn't seem to know much, although it's possible she was not asked an opinion on this trip. That actually seems likely. Skiing is really expensive hobby for buy-used save the difference Duggars. It requires equipment and gear. It's really dangerous, enough people have died that most people who ski wear helmets now. I can see the Duggs being old-fashioned and cheap not wearing them. If Kendra is tubing on a ski-slope, a helmet would be a good idea since the pitch of the ground is similiar. Same goes for Amy. I've haven't commented on the pregnancy yet, but sufficient to say I'm neither surprised nor happy for them. She's second trimester? Have they announced when she's due? I wonder if TLC is filming. It seems possible.

Derick's relationship with Cathy reminds me of JB's relationship with Mary. (Actually Derick reminds me of his father-in-law especially during his state senate campaign days.) I feel bad if that's true about Dan. It can be hard having nutty relatives or friends, but particularly relatives, since peole tend to think those ties are more important.

I would assume they took a public plane since they don't live near the hub of Duggar Airways and it would be more time consuming with logistics and money for JD to fly there. Plus he isn't the photos.

Derick is 28 and Jill is 26.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
She was at Tori's wedding a couple weeks ago. I still think it's honeymoon baby, but she is far enough along that if something happened she was engaged when it did. I think it says more that her parents picked out and approved of Austin, encouraged her to get engaged, married, and pregnant at 19, then it would if she were a little ahead of schedule. My guess is the wedding was not moved up despite the colors of the dresses. -
I googled sleep sacks and they looked nothing like in the photos with Dan and Deena. (if you click the photos a whole slideshow appears.) A sleep sack can position the arms like in the photo, but it would completely over legs and feet. Also Sam is wearing all his clothes in the pictures. I don't have kids, so I don't know.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

I notice it would be easy to crop Josh from the photo. -
Yes you can if you click on the tweet itself.
