Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
No, they're outside in a parking lot. There's a tree, and a yellow marking on the ground like on a road. They're standing next to a giant heating/ac unit. It's a strange spot for a picture. -

I seem to remember Anna's parents were on television during the 19Kids' days. Does anyone know if they liked the Pearls' books? -

One is very young around 6 and the other is about 17. -
I'm not sure what it means, and this is a guess. She might be allowed to attend a birth as some sort of emotional support for a patient (after all friends and family are often there). I think she would need a professional supervising the birth, unless it were some sort on the side-of-the-highway birth.

Neither the Duggars nor the Bates believe in birth control. IBLP is anti-birth control. IBLP, under Gothard, recommended shorter breast feeding periods and being joyfully available, and other things that would maximize the chance of conceiving. Quiverfull, the non-denominal and non-headed movement, follows much of this. The Duggars and Bates kids were brought up that birth control is the work of the devil. For those raised with that idea, it can very hard to leave behind that mindset. It will haunt them for a long time. (I wasn't raised like this, but I'm familiar with people who were). I tend to think the Bates and the Duggars married their kids off to people who will carry on this mindset (with likely exception of Jeremy Vuolo). A lot may have to do with Austin's parents. It's possible they got married older and their small family was the result of leaving it up to God, in which case they may want dozens of grandchildren. If they were hoping to have a smaller family, then maybe they will pass on these beliefs to their son. -
Since Derick had grape juice, might I recommend the Sangria Red juice from Welch's Grape Juice? It's very good, and if you want we can try Sangria White, also from Welch's.

After Joshgate I blew, I saw people talking about it on tv. This expert was either a psychologist or a doctor and she said we are all mandated reporters. If you hear first hand about major abuse, you have a obligation to report it. (I'm not sure if they meant morally or legally.) -
they're all under 30. And two of them are under 25.

Derick or not, I think Jana lucked out considering she doesn't have 20-25 straight years of being pregnant. I like kids, I want kids, but having to have every baby I could possibly have from 19 onward is bad enough scenario, even if I loved him and our kids. I'm glad that I'm too old for that as well. I mean I know women who like big families and/or being pregnant, but even they say they're glad when the pregnancy is over. When they want to close up shop, no one really cares that much. Since this is the Dillard thread, I think Derick was the most likely of all her sisters' husband to wind up with Jana. Ben and Austin would be considered too young for her, especially in their culture. Jeremy is the right age, but hit it off with Jinger right away. From the description of the courtship process at the time, it seems like JB decided Derick was son-in-law material and started trying to make a match with whichever daughter was interested. Jill was the one who decided she wanted to know more.

Joy looks a little like Kristen Stewart in that picture. -

She's 20, but the concept still holds. -

Where are they when they took that picture? What is it a picture of? I think it must be Arkansas, because Sierra is there. -

First of all, I assumed someone would have leaked would apply to friends and family. They have dozens of relatives and their friends. Second of all from the last picture was a few weeks ago. If she had a baby since then, it would impossible to know if it was early or on-time. I think they had always scheduled the wedding for when it was held and the other date was a placeholder to throw off the press. Judging from her sisters' births, medical professionals might not even be involved. -
Daniel Gafford is 6' 11" according to the internet.

I doubt the baby is here. Joy and Austin have never had a large social media presence. -
So there's a game where you put a nametag/sticker/post-it with a word on it. You have to guess what it is based on the theme (such as biblical characters) and hints given to you by the other people who can read your sticker and need help with theirs. You often walk around and ask for help. My best guess is the kids' played this game before they sat down for lecture in part to burn off some energy.

I also think it's his wedding suit. Also many generations of women of my family worked when they no longer had little children and the family needed money. @Chicklet That too! I suppose Derick is one of those people who also has realistic and not romanticized notions of work, which is why he chooses to stay at home with his young family.

Kendra's and Jana's skirts seem to be the same length. Joy's skirt looks shorter to me. I like all the girls' outfits, except for Jinger's. When did they take this picture? No Lauren, and Joy is still thin enough they can hide her belly.

The second time was between 16 and 17. She turned 40 during the second time.

Every school I was ever in there were kids as small as Josie and as big as Kynzie in the same grade. That is some get up on MacKynzie. I wish I had a costume like that when I was a kid.

My understanding is that when they thought Josie was going to be a normal full-term pregnancy she was going to be Joy's buddy. (She was 12.) It was when they had to do an emergency pre-term c-section and she came out with complications she got moved to Jana. But I thought that was Jinger. Joy as far as I know didn't have dedicated buddies until Jill married and she took over Jill's buddy team. I think Joy was still mainly a tomboy at that time.
