  1. Yes. Yes. Yes. Obviously people enter a competition with the hope of winning it. I'm fine with that. I get it. However, being on the show is a big enough deal because of the visibility it brings. I would not go out of my way to bring drama and make myself look like a jerk to thousands (even millions) of viewers. I'd be shooting myself in the foot for choosing that route. Not all of these contestants will continue to enjoy a high profile post-season, but I'd imagine they could parlay their appearance on the show into something better for their career. At least, better than it was before their appearance on the show. Take proper advantage of the opportunity.
  2. If Korina in some weird way was trying to defend her talent and was alluding to the competition being more about drama, then she played right into the producers' hands. Her criticism is a worthy one because I couldn't care less about the drama. I'd rather have the show focus on the actual competition and talent. Korina's a more talented designer than Char is. However, Julia was wise to bring up the fact that Korina has had better resources when it comes to her design education and career. The fact that Korina spoke the truth about being a better designer than Char and many of the others isn't the problem. It's the way she carried herself in the THs and toward the other designers and even the judges. Competitions like these aren't going to be 100% fair. Life isn't 100% fair. Acting gracefully win or lose is the better strategy. Few people are going to sympathize with the angry and bitter contestant. The problem with complaining is that even if you're right, in almost every case, you'll wind up making yourself looking worse. That's what happened to Korina.
  3. I think my favorite part about watching Project Runway is coming to this forum to discuss the show with you all. I laugh like crazy reading the posts here.
  4. I like Kini. Since this is the episode where we're all in agreement (for the most part) about Korina and her attitude, I liked the last episode(?) where Korina bragged about how most of the designers wanted her winning jacket and Kini was like "I don't!" His response warmed my cold black heart.
  5. I'd be kind of surprised if Amanda knew who Keith Haring was. Hee!
  6. terrymct: I wasn't wow'ed by Sean's jacket either. I wouldn't wear it. Sometimes I question the judges' tastes, although I do like the way Zac gets up close to the fabrics. I appreciate his construction critiques. Amanda isn't one of my favorites. She's been slightly less annoying, but the neon yeti?! Her aesthetic makes me want to slam my head into a wall. Honey, get your head out of the 70's! The clothing from that time period was not that outstanding. I remember wearing it.
  7. Exactly. I think Korina is the better designer. If she had conducted herself in a more appropriate fashion, then I probably would have ended up on her side. She's just so angry about who knows what. She was pissed at Char and The Save, but I think it goes much deeper than that. I don't think the show brought out her nastiness and ego. I think those things are part of her core personality. I also agree that if Char had had Korina's design school advantage, then she might be better off at construction. I go back and forth on whether I think Sean's an asshole. I want to like him. Then again, it's difficult for me to like any of the contestants this season.
  8. Heather West competed against Bobby on last night's show. She won the second season of Hell's Kitchen.
  9. I don't think Char is an outstanding designer, but I can't remember that much about Korina's looks either. I think there were a couple of motorcycle jackets. What I remember more are Korina's attitude and comments. That's not a good thing. I can appreciate that Korina defended her looks because she has a particular aesthetic. I don't agree with Nina that Korina is the only contestant who falls back on it. You can defend your aesthetic without tearing down another designer's. Even if you're in the right, it's never a good idea to act mean and bitter. Potential clients might watch the show and think twice about ever hiring you based off your show persona: whether it's really you or a producer manipulation.
  10. I laughed when I saw that. I suspected he would be.
  11. I'm not a fan of Korina, but really Nina? Korina is the only contestant who consistently uses the same aesthetic (*coughAmandacough*)? Really, Tim. Pairing Char with Korina for next week's challenge? She's been complaining about Char's save for weeks. Her attitude had everything to do with that save. While I don't think Emily will make it to the end, I like her personality and her comments about Korina were spot on. I'm glad that one of the designers said what I've been thinking since the first episode.
  12. I'm enjoying this program as well. The writers didn't rely as heavily on the voiceover in this episode. Well, aside from the intro and Henry's end thoughts. I don't mind those, actually. My favorite part of the show is the relationship between Henry and Abe. When Abe told Henry that he explored the drug as a way to stay alive, in order to take care of him, that made me a little sad. Maybe I'm just a sap for certain fantasy shows? I, too, feel bad for Lucas. He wants to make a connection with someone, but every character treats him like crap. That said I like him. Hopefully the others will start to treat him well sooner rather than later.
  13. There's something about Aaron that really unnerves me, but I can't exactly put into the right words. I wish their plan had backfired so that he would have gotten sent home.
  14. Her outfit was puckering on a couple of seams. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who noticed that the fabric was squishing together between the woman's waist and crotch. For some reason, it looked like extra black bands were in that area when the model walked down the runway. It was a dreadful look. All of her looks are pretty dreadful, actually.
  15. You've made very good points and others have expressed similarly. When it comes to reality shows, I know producers will manipulate certain people and scenarios. At the same time, I think producers look to fill certain roles where they won't have to waste too much energy on provoking specific reactions out of people. Usually I give a person the benefit of the doubt, unless the person is really just too nasty for it not to be real on some level. I don't know if that makes sense. Certain people are drawn to go on reality shows and I think casting has an easier job than we might expect. I don't think Korina is a nice person. We've seen a couple of flashes of what passes for kindness from her, but we've seen her act meaner on most occasions.
  16. I defended Char's extra ten minutes, but only because of the fact that it's a non-model wearing the outfit. Having said that her blaming the zipper on her model made me mad. It was rude and unnecessary.
  17. Also I'd argue that Tim "saved" Alexander when he told him how horrible his original outfit was. The joke was on Alexander because both versions were crap. Not that I think Char's an excellent designer, but it took her, what, 5-10 minutes to sew on a new zipper? They were using regular women not models. They can suck it up for this one episode. I guess they need someone else to backstab since Sandhya was sent home last week. Anytime Korina wants to fall out a window, I'm game. She's a nasty little person. I doubt the producers need to prod many reactions out of her. She's an unpleasant person with an overinflated sense of self and her designs.
  18. The fantasy aspect of this show vaguely reminds me of 1987's Beauty and the Beast. The latter is darker in subject matter and tone. I'm not getting the romantic vibe between Henry and Jo that was present between Catherine and Vincent.
  19. Henry was on a slave ship and wouldn't let the captain throw a slave overboard, so the captain shot and threw him overboard instead. I don't think he knows why he's immortal, but he feels it's more of a curse. Understandable, I guess. At one point, I think Henry mentions that he's looking for a way to die. As in, die forever. But maybe I misheard him.
  20. Ha! Awesome.
  21. I don't remember my mom ever putting me in a jumpsuit. Aside from using one as part of a Halloween costume, I don't understand their appeal. The designers this season seem to love them. Am I just behind on what's cool in fashion?
  22. I still see that as defending herself, her ego, in a defensive way.My point is that you have Tim telling them to make their designs "work" and to be willing to own them, regardless of what the judges say. Obviously Sandhya doesn't listen to any constructive criticism, but in her mind, she thinks her body of work is perfection. Sean was the same way toward Zac in one episode and he, too, got a little cocky after winning a couple of challenges. The difference is that he's willing to listen to critique and improve his designs. Except for not using the fringe last night. ;)
  23. Initially I supported Sandhya because I had hoped we'd start to see more creative work, but instead she slipped more and more each week. It was her time to go, but I'd argue that her time was two weeks ago. I think the way she spoke to the judges kind of sealed her fate. They don't seem to like when a designer defends his or her design. I thought they were supposed to stay true to their vision while working within the confines of the challenge requirements. The people who did that were Kini, Char, and Korina. I thought Sandhya's look was terrible and not something a 9-year-old girl would wear. I did admire her composure after she was auf'ed. I felt she was at her most genuine in that moment.
  24. THANK YOU!I'm so tired of seeing someone faint in almost every episode of a Gordon Ramsay show. I should feel bad saying that because these people might genuinely be ill, but these instances are executed in a way that makes me think the contestants or visitors are in cahoots with the producers.
