  1. I couldn't stop thinking about Patrick Bateman when Dandy's talking head was happening. His underwear scene reminded me of Bateman's underwear workout scene. Gloria, Gloria. Like father, like Dandy. I'd rather have the evil murdering clown back. Why kill Matt Bomer?! BOO. I'm waiting for Del to get his. I'm glad that Desiree left because she deserves better. Hopefully, she's not entirely done this season because you can never have too much Angela Bassett. I love the contemporary references and songs this season. Well done. Also, Bryan Ferry and "Slave to Love"? Thank you, Ryan Murphy. Avaleigh: I wondered the same thing about Stanley trying to sell Elsa on acting in television. I enjoyed that entire scene. Historically, film actors have looked down on TV actors. These days, the more exciting work is happening on television.
  2. I wondered where this show had gone. I thought that maybe the producers had pulled the plug. Finally. I had forgotten Sleepy Ashley was the last one to go home. Sterling is . . . Sterling. And really, Sade? You thought you all were going to be serving the dogs? Oh, f*ck me. Color me shocked that there were no eliminations. The guys were ganging up on the likes of Frank, Sterling, and I can't remember who else. They succeeded in keeping those guys on the show, but on the other team. Maybe they need to quit plotting? I find that plotting against people in those circumstances almost always backfires.
  3. I agree. Drama free is a good thing, but I wondered if those responsible for The Chair found her too boring to follow. She might not be boring, but I felt like the cameras followed Shane's journey more because his movie was such a hot mess. It's as if they couldn't keep their cameras away. It worked for those of us who watch the show. It's just something I've been noticing for a while.
  4. You know, I don't remember why she had vocal strain, but it wasn't a necessary addition. I completely agree with you about that pairing versus Tori and Scott's. I, too, thought that other scene you mentioned came out of nowhere and it didn't line up with what we had seen about their friendship earlier in the movie.
  5. As if I could be any more in love with Zachary Quinto. I didn't even make that piece of shite Not Cool and I felt like Quinto was pissed at me. Ha! I couldn't agree more. He hasn't been on Shane's side since the beginning, but surely he knew what Shane's schtick was. All anyone has to do is go on YouTube. Neal was more diplomatic, but you could tell that he was thankful for Zachary's reaction. I don't know how anyone can justify $850,000 being spent on that film. For a brief moment, I didn't mind Shane as much as a person (on the show) because he seemed very laidback and friendly to everyone. In the past couple of episodes, he's been acting like a brat and he's been awful to Lauren. I wondered why she'd waste time on someone like him, but she knows what's she's talking about and he needs to listen. I gained a lot of respect for her after the way I saw Shane treating her. In the previous episode, I could swear he talked about shaving his head and wanting to grow and mature in his career. In this episode, he seemed to be back at square one. I don't get him. Aren't the reasons for being in this contest about making your first feature to build a reputation in the film industry and gain a larger audience who will want to see more? Why did he bother coming on this show if all he wants to do is pander to his existing audience? He needs to stick to making YouTube videos, if that's going to be his attitude. Also, I was under the impression that Shane's audience was probably, mostly young male teens. Most of his audience is young female teens?! What the hell? There are women who find his humor amusing? I didn't feel like this episode focused as much on Anna's post-production process, but she got major props from me for attending the test screening and taking in all the suggestions. For someone like her, that's probably not an easy thing to do. I like that she seems more genuinely collaborative, even though she can be extremely annoying. I want her to win.
  6. In another thread, I mentioned that I watched Not Cool online (for free). It wasn't the worst movie I've seen, but it's one of the worst. I read Neal Dodson's Wrap post about why he wants Hollidaysburg to win. I'm glad Neal enjoyed Cherami Leigh's (Tori) and Michelle Veintimilla's (Janie) in Shane's movie. As I said elsewhere in this forum, I thought the two did a fine job with the material they were given. They were the only truly watchable ones in the film. If they hadn't been cast in Shane's movie, then I'd be able to give his film the title of "The Worst Movie." I hope that, for the actresses' sake, this movie doesn't screw them over in some way professionally because it's a big steaming pile of poo. I would like to see them in other features too. Also, I expected to be more offended by Shane's movie when watching the entire thing. His movie is grossly offensive, but we saw all of the worst scenes on the show, so there wasn't anything left in the final version to shock me. Given last night's episode, there might have been even more material that was offensive, but I'm guessing those clips were cut. Not that I think Shane could have had more to cut, but I wonder if Lauren convinced him to do away with a few pieces. I know Shane does all the work on his YouTube videos, but playing the lead and playing characters in drag were not wise moves. I think he might have made a better (OK, more passable) movie if he had hired real actors to play Scott and the secondary characters. Anyway. I watched Hollidaysburg on Starz On Demand. I enjoyed Anna's movie more than I had thought I would. I don't mind indie films as long as the characters are quirky in some way and the dialogue, tone, and cinematography mesh well. As obsessive as Anna is about the most minute details, I was expecting some lag in the final cut, but was surprised when everything moved along seamlessly and made sense. I also agree with Neal that Rachel Keller (Tori), Tobin Mitnick (Scott), Claire Chapelli (Heather), and Tristan Erwin (Petroff) were perfect as their characters and had chemistry with one another in a way that Shane's didn't. I didn't even mind that Anna gave herself a smaller role because she was fine and her presence didn't distract from we were supposed to focus on. Anna knows how to tell a story. I'm not entirely sure directing is her forte, but maybe she wants to branch out in that direction. As a storyteller, she knows how to grab my attention immediately. It's so strange for me to say that because, as a person, she comes as insecure, anal retentive, and kind of annoying. Maybe that's just from the stress of being on a show about making your directorial debut, who knows? The Victor/Phil angle kind of bothers me in that it takes me back to Project Greenlight and the season of co-directors Kyle Rankin and Efrem Potelle. Even the actors got pissed off at them. I guess if Anna is at her best when Victor and Phil are around, then why fix something that isn't broken? I hope she's a more independent woman off-screen or that will make me sad. I voted on the films and chose Anna's to win. To compare her movie to Shane's is laughable, but the viewers only have those two choices. Even if Shane wins, Anna will be fine because she has genuine talent. I expect that Shane's will win and he'll take that as validation he has genuine talent and a viewpoint to offer film audiences.
  7. My favorite part of the recap was when they showed the Jade Cole "This is not America's Next Top Best Friend" clip.
  8. I need more Miss J. And despite the red mark from Adam's past, I think he pulls the frat boy image too hard. Also, Shei talking crap about Adam not being boyfriend material, then coming into the TH room to make out with him? I don't like Romeo, but I agreed with him that the rest of them were acting like they are there to vacation. It's supposed to be a competition. Then again, having male and female models compete in the same competition is stupid. Although I didn't mind it so much on Make Me A Supermodel. There were a couple of models I didn't remember from the earlier episodes. Yep. Real memorable. Also, I miss Matthew.
  9. I didn't see all the contestants' seasons. I saw Helen, Justin, Kate (her second), and Alexandria's. I'm looking forward to seeing what the others bring. I've heard a few of the names before. I'm going into this All-Stars, for the most part, blindly because I'm not familiar with most of them. I really liked Fabio's jumpsuit, even though I'm not big on jumpsuits. I'm a pants kind of gal, so it was nice to see him go outside the box to make pants. I didn't mind Chris' outfit, but the kilt was a bit 90's. Kate's dress was meh. I know she's a bridal designer, but I hope she doesn't keep going for that aesthetic this season. In her second go around, she seemed more versatile. That said she deserved to be in the bottom. Patricia's dress was blah and WOW on those darts. I know she was going to go a different route with that dress, but ran out of time. She ended up making bad darts and knew they were bad, so I can't jump on her too much. I think she knew she was screwed. It's too bad she was sent home though. I would have preferred that Kate get bounced. I wasn't that wow'ed by Ben's dress. Michelle's dress might have been somewhat cooler in black or dark brown suede. I agree with Alyssa that it looked a bit too much like upholstery. I don't even remember Helen's dress, but we know she's into making gowns. Kind of a one-trick pony. I hated Alexandria's poopy pants outfits from Season 12, but I didn't mind last night's outfit. How long before she and Helen get into it? One more thing: I like Ivanka Trump as a judge. She's pretty levelheaded given her background and upbringing. The Donald did something right with her.
  10. I've seen both movies now, but I know there's a separate thread for that discussion. Anyway, I didn't mind this episode. I agree with you about Shane. The fact that Shane admitted his hair was crap made me respect him more. To Shane's credit, his cast and crew seemed genuinely happy to have worked with him. He had his moments of where he'd get pissy, but overall, I think his cast and crew felt comfortable with him. He was friendly to them and appreciated their help. While Shane had a couple of run ins with Lauren, there's a genuine respect between them. I think Lauren kept Shane on the right track (for the most part). She knew what she was talking about and knew what needed to be gone, even if Shane wasn't always getting it. I like Lauren. I have gained some respect for Anna now that I've seen her finished film. She didn't do as horrible of a job as I was expecting based on her obsessive attention to detail, however, I think she should stick to screenwriting. That's obviously her strength and writing doesn't necessarily adhere to the kinds of deadlines required of a director. In this case, Victor is the more experienced director, but he's a bit of a jackass. I don't mind Phil too much. As I've said before, I get the impression that Anna and Phil are intimidated by Victor. In Victor's defense, at least, he knows how to move along and not do 1,242 takes of an actor flopping face first onto a bed. I didn't quite get the impression that Anna's crew respected her as much as Shane's respected him. When it comes to working with Anna, I imagine it's like walking on eggshells. She doesn't fully trust her instincts and she overthinks the things that aren't necessary. I don't get how Anna doesn't understand how important not going over budget is. She, Victor, and Phil have made short films before, shouldn't she have gained time management and budgeting skills by now?
  11. I think you said it the best. Amanda's aesthetic is no where near mine. When I think hippie or "boho," I don't assume that means bright and cheery clothing. I think more along the lines of earth tones. Having said that what throws me off about Amanda's clothes is how heavy they look. When I think hippie or boho, I think lighter (and even airier) fabrics. I'm not sure why she goes after the heavier fabrics.
  12. I checked out the show's IMDB page and Adrian Pasdar is listed as Adam.
  13. This show is a hot mess, but I do like that Miss J returned. One thing I miss is the teaches. On every Cycle, there was one episode about runway walks and a challenge. Miss J would take over an episode. Now Miss J gives a challenge winner and one or two of his or her friends runway lessons. I thought this would change with J's return. I like Raelia. Her legs are stunning, but what the hell was with her standing with her back to the camera in that challenge? I'd understand the confusion on the first shot, but for 7 or 8 shots? Damn. Lenox is the most editorial of the models, but I'm growing tired of her attitude and whininess. Count me in as another viewer who can't take her eyes off Will. I think he's gorgeous. While he's a bit too tall to model, he has a dancer's body. I don't know why he was getting crap for it. Also, Adam's grown on me a bit. He looks much, much better with short hair. I hope he has kept it short. I like Shei. I think she's coming into her own. She should have won this week's challenge. I think Shei and Adam look pretty hot together. Keith doesn't wow me. He needs to let go more. He's a little stiff. Not surprised Mirjana is gone. I thought she showed the most maturity when she was sent home. She didn't cry, complain, or trash talk anyone. I hope she straightens out her life. I don't know why they bring back eliminated contestants. Why drag this crap out? Chantelle doesn't bother me too much. I had forgotten about her. Except for the vitiligo. I'm not going to pretend I know what that feels like, but boy, does the symmetry enthrall me. Didn't Tyra say something similar in the first episode? I feel guilty about commenting on her skin when it's obvious that having vitiligo caused her grief as a child, but at the same time, I can't pretend it doesn't exist and isn't a factor. Tyra exploits it. From what I've read here, Chantelle has landed modeling gigs and this is a good thing. I wonder how much the vitiligo limits her, even with her appearance on the show. It's always been my impression that modeling agencies frown upon aspiring models who go the reality show route. The reality shows are for finding personalities not real models.
  14. This is the second most outstanding I've read in this forum over the past week or so.
  15. I was glad to see that Alexander was back to being the Fan Favorite.
  16. She definitely is. She's in her own little bubble and gives the impression that no one would think to hurt her. And the way she falls all over Dandy and his needs. Yuck.
  17. THAT was it! I'm sure Tyra's ass didn't just evolve from ribs. Anyway, I did like Shei's runway. I agree with the others who complimented her runway walks. Hopefully, her pictures get better. She was one of my early favorites.
  18. I found it entertaining. ;)
  19. Henry's arrogance gets the better of him. I agree that the show tries to have certain things both ways with Henry. I wonder if the writers themselves are/were still in the process of fleshing out more of his character as the series progresses. I'm not trying to make excuses for the writers not having more of a grip, but that might explain certain inconsistencies.
  20. My jaw almost hit the floor when Nina said that. Bad comparison.
  21. I love how, in this thread, Kini's name has gone from Sini to Mini.
  22. I did like the blues Amanda used in her clothing, but that was about it. Her aesthetic doesn't mesh well with mine, but there is a market for it. I thought the same thing about Zac's comment regarding the jewelry she designed. Didn't Zac say that last week too, or was it Heidi? I think Amanda should consider designing jewelry. I think she has an eye for it. I've complained about Amanda's clothing aesthetic, but I actually don't mind her jewelry. I think it's nice. I don't wear much jewelry, but I'd probably buy a piece or two of hers.
  23. I agree. I think Henry's socially awkward and that's why his personality bugs sometimes. I also think his mindset has been the same since the first time he lived. Living for 200 years has changed his mindset in some ways, but hasn't changed much about his core personality. I think his comment about mothers being responsible for their sons turning into serial killers reflects this because it's an old-fashioned way of thinking. I also believe that his deaths, on this show, are changing him little by little because they seem to get worse.
  24. I hope the Frenchman becomes a regular presence on the show. "Adam" killing Henry was kind of eerie for reasons that other have mentioned here. And please, no talking about Abe dying. He's my favorite character. He'll be in harm's way at some point, but I don't want him to die.
  25. I watched Shane's movie (through a free link). Seeing the movie gives me a greater understanding over what's transpired so far on the show. The movie wasn't great. It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen. It's cliche ridden and the humor is Porky's-like. Given the material, I thought that the actors playing Tori (Cherami Leigh) and Janie (Michelle Veintimilla) did a decent job. I also thought the actor playing Shane's father Ray (Bill Laing) was decent too. They're the only good things about the movie. For what it's worth, the most offensive scenes in the movie are ones we saw on the show. I thought it would get worse, but luckily, it didn't. Again, Shane's movie wasn't great, but I can see its appeal to a certain demographic. I can imagine that this demographic is why Shane's movie is ahead in making money. I will watch Anna's too. I'm curious to see how it turned out, despite her constantly running out-of-time and going over budget.
