When I watched this episode late last night, I had been expecting Bret to have a meltdown. Did I miss out on it? He swore a bunch of times, but that's every episode of HK. I couldn't believe how stupid the women were for putting Sarah up for elimination. I'm glad that Gordon knew better to call out Mieka instead. Not that I think Monique shouldn't be eliminated. When is Alison going to get thrown out for the scary eye makeup? Oh yeah. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who picked up on Alison's mac & cheese. I'm sorry, maybe I'm a mac & cheese purist, but I don't want a bun or bread bowl anywhere near mine. I'm sure others don't mind, but I gave major side eye to Alison when she pulled that stunt.

Ah, thanks. I usually don't learn who's who until halfway through the season. ;-) Me too. I thought Gordon would surprise us by eliminating both.
-
I'm thinking that Gordon should be replaced by you and your family.
-
That makes sense. Still, I would have eliminated both guys. HK's seasons feel like they take forever. After the Finale, it's as if there's a week vacation before the next season starts. ;-)

Tell me about it. Actually, I'd love to have Khaleesi do the voiceover for the show. Also, I realize that it's a rookie mistake to put a hot pan under the tables where someone can pick it up. However, it's also a rookie mistake to send up raw pork not once but twice (GR's usual: "Are you trying to KILL someone?!"). Couldn't Michael and Brendan have been eliminated? Or was it Nick? Damn. I don't remember. I'm too lazy to look it up.

What Strategy Would You Use to Win Hell's Kitchen?
Surrealist replied to cooksdelight's topic in Hell's Kitchen
I think this is what I was referring to because I know smoking would kill taste buds. I worded my questions in the wrong way. Plus, why do so many of them seem to do it? And now I'm getting off-topic. ;-) Another strategy would be to not place hot pans underneath the counter because someone might get a third-degree burn. -

This is a great one because I can't believe how awful their palates seem to be. I'm no foodie, but my palate is probably 100 times better than any of the contestants are. When you can't taste the difference between chicken and beef? Or even pork and fish? -

This is a STUNNING topic. Excellent job, cooksdelight. When vying for a spot to get on the show, don't bring up a signature dish that looks like a dog's dinner. -

Hahahahaha. No, I understand what you mean and I agree with what Christina said. Friendship and work don't always mix, so it's better to align oneself with a strong team versus one consisting of all friends. -

So what you're saying is that a contestant should be a born asshole? ;-) Also, the contestants should know how to match fish heads to fish bodies. -

The only real strategy any of these contestants needs is to learn how to cook. -
The airhorn was the best part of the show. I love trying to guess which ZListers will be on because that's about the only segment that keeps me awake. They didn't show T as much last night. I'll (erroneously) assume that that's because they're setting her up to win the whole thing. Then again, I thought the same thing with regard to MCJr and Ayla, then they booted her right before the Final. T's the one I think probably cooks the best out of all of them, but that's not saying much with this group.

Same here. I thought Michael should have been gone last week in a double elimination. Right now, I'm not rooting for anyone. Alison's eye makeup makes me want to punch her in the face.

Just as I was thinking that this crop of chefs was marginally better than last season's, tonight happened. I'm looking forward to the episode where the ambulance shows up because we get one for every season.

All-Star Academy - General Discussion
Surrealist replied to Meredith Quill's topic in All-Star Academy
Thank you. When certain foods become trendy, I start to avoid them. I thought this episode was fine. I thought I had never seen this series before until someone brought up the North/South/East/West teams and then I remembered the show. ;-) So far I haven't decided who I like the most. The contestants seem fine. Joseph comes across as one of the friendlier reality competition show contestants and whenever a person seems genuine nice (and talented), I'll root for him or her. Bobby and blondes. Shocking, I tell you. -
I just read this news. :-( I didn't care a whole lot for her on the show, but what an awful tragedy. Way too young.

I don't know if it means much, but I just voted for the show too.

Scheduling & Ratings: You Can See 'Forever'...
Surrealist replied to Just Here's topic in Forever [V]
Count me in as another viewer who's happy to see that the ratings went up, if even a little. I agree that ABC should promote this show even more. I've read and seen one Ioan Gruffudd. I need more than that. ;-) -
Lucas: "That stamp right there is from the Gilded Cage. Hot new club down in Meatpacking District. Bouncer wouldn't let me in last weekend, but guess who's rollin' up with a search warrant? Booyah." Jo: "Henry, how would you like to go clubbing?" Lucas: "I just said 'Booyah.' Oh, you're talking to Henry. Got it."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! -
Oh, you mean, Sean? ;-) I felt the same way while watching the episode, but I liked Dmitry's dress. He deserves to be in the final. I didn't care for Michelle's or Helen's dresses, but at least, Michelle shoots for something different and even risky. A pantcho though . . . UGH. I didn't hate Sonjia's look, even though gold lame isn't my thing. I don't care much for bows either, but I liked how it connected with the back of the dress.

Well, I'm bummed that Ron Perlman is out. I had hoped that Luther Braxton might be a recurring character.

I was happy for the same reason. This has been my favorite episode of the series so far. It was Abe-centric. And damn this show for making me sympathize with Adam! *shakes fist* Mengele experimented on him. How horrifying. I didn't mind that Adam killed Julian. I'm not sure what that says about me. :-| I had a feeling that the journal Adam left was going to have Abe's real parents' names in it. I was so happy for him. Also, I enjoyed seeing Henry's father's slave trading background brought to light. Henry's very principled and it was interesting to see his anger toward his father for being a "hypocrite" of sorts. As his father lay dying and apologized for his behavior, I knew he was going to die just as Henry started to apologize to him. I thought that was sad. And Hanson's brother . . . hilarious. "I'm sorry I slept with your prom date." The funny runs in that family. :) I'm loving how this show is evolving and it had better get a second season. At least.

Oh, I've read that too, but I still want to smack Leo. If anything, for the gaping mouth.
