  1. Plus Lisa Vidal is a well-known actress. She wouldn't be hired to just be a nameless/faceless intern.

    Season 03

So.....I liked Kristen and I liked Emily. Are they both gone for good? Kristen had terrific computer skills - and Emily seemed to be a very competent agent....not sure why they were jettisoned?
  3. Looking for my next binge. I finished The Good Karma Hospital (non-mystery but quite good) and am just about done with New Tricks. Has anyone seen Modus on PBS Masterpiece? I believe it is Nordic Noir set in Sweden,
  4. Finally finished Season 3. Loved this show. Amanda Redman is fierce and wonderful as Lydia. I fell for the rest of the cast and the beautiful country. Fingers crossed for Season 4 because I need to know what happens next!
  5. I love Brian and Esther. Did you know that the actress who plays Esther is the real life wife of the actor who plays Jack?
  6. Started watching Season 1 after seeing Amanda Redman (Dr. Fonseca) in New Tricks. The photography of India is great. I like the interaction with the characters - the perfect easy show for a crazy time.
  7. Has anyone seen either Fallet or Eyewitness (from Norway) on Netflix? I am going to need a new binge after I finish the last few episodes of New Tricks. I started watching The Good Karma Hospital which is not a mystery but stars Amanda Redman from New Tricks. Fun, escapist and perfect for this crazy season.
  8. Have one season left in New Tricks so I need to find another binge.
  9. Per Variety, the 50th season of Masterpiece will include the next season of Van Der Valk in the Fall of 2021.
  10. I am really enjoying New Tricks. I really enjoy the various Nordic Noir series but it is a refreshing not to have to cover my eyes due to excess gore and/or women being held against their will. The antics - and genius - of the 3 retired cops really cracks me up, I watched Episode 1 of The Cliff on Amazon and then gave up. Did not like the supernatural involvement.
  11. Finished Doctor Blake Mysteries (and its short sequel, Blake Mysteries) as well as Van Der Valk. I've read that there will be a Season 2 of the latter at some point. I really enjoyed Van Der Valk although 3 episodes was really too short. Started watching New Tricks on Amazon last night. It's an older British series about a police squad formed with retired detectives. First episode was a mix of drama and some very funny moments.
  12. I finished Season 5 and also watched the 2 episodes of the Blake Mysteries starring Jean. I really liked the last episode of Season 5 with the wedding and the end of the Tynemans. I had grown to like Patrick so I was surprised when it was revealed that he had died. The actor who plays Charlie only made a cameo appearance at the wedding so he must have been unavailable for filming. It's a shame that Mattie did not come back for the wedding. The Blake Mysteries started slowly but I grew to like the Jean/Alice Harvey team and would have watched more episodes. Happy to see that Alice became the Police Surgeon. Strange that there was no mention at all of Charlie or Rose from the prior series. I thought that the title work and the music for both series was terrific.
  13. I liked this a lot and hope that they continue to make more. I like the relationship between Lucianne and Van Der Valk and the new guy intrigues me. I also like the briefings in the bar with the assistance of the homeless man.
  14. https://variety.com/2020/film/global/netflix-finlands-aurora-bordertown-the-mural-murders-1234783403/ A new Bordertown film is being made now. It will apparently show in theaters in Finland and on Netflix elsewhere. The 3 main cast members are returning. Highly recommended Nordic Noir series.
  15. Thanks for posting this! I love Brokenwood. Looking forward to seeing Season 7 on Acorn at some point.
  16. I have just started Season 4 and so far, I am thrilled with the new Superintendent, Frank. What a welcome change from Munro, who became a bit too cartoon bad guy. Blake was shown to have success after success - despite his unusual methods - so Munro's refusal to treat Blake with anything but disdain and contempt did not ring true for me. I really liked when Frank told Blake to just keep doing what he is doing since he is clearly having success. Bill Hobart seems to have changed his tune abruptly too. It's also unclear whether Blake could survive financially without being the police surgeon. We know that he has patients but his practice does not seem to be very busy. Knowing whether Blake "had" to retain the job would be a key point. Jean and Blake have finally moved forward! It looks as if we are about to lose Mattie. I've enjoyed the character so I will be sorry to see her go.
  17. Just read that filming for Season 3 is beginning. https://www.icelandreview.com/culture/trapped-season-3-filming-begins-in-north-iceland/#:~:text=Filming of the third season,September 24 and October 9.
  18. I have not yet watched. Wanted to record all of the episodes so that I can binge. Speaking of binge, I am in Season 3 of The Doctor Blake Mysteries. I saw a news article today that they are starting to film Trapped Season 3.
  19. Late to the party - just finished a binge of Season 1 and am into the beginning of Season 2 (Danny departs, Joy dies - that surprised me, Daughter alive but wants nothing to do with Blake). I think that Jean is my favorite character but Mattie is close to the top.
  20. I'm in the midst of a binge of The Doctor Blake Mysteries on Britbox. PBS Masterpiece is premiering Van der Valk on Sunday night. It is about a contemporary Dutch detective.
  21. I was watching Episode 1 of Jonathan Creek (from the 1990s) and recognized a voice coming from a minor background player. Sure enough, it was John Marquez who plays the cop in Doc Martin.
  22. I just started watching Jonathan Creek. Nice pairing between the two leads. Unique protagonist who is a designer of magical illusions and apparently brilliant at solving mysteries.
  23. I watched Episode 1 as well. I thought it was worth coming back for more - especially since this was only the first episode. DCI McDonald was a bit too strident and annoying for me; hopefully she will tone down a bit. Loved Dodds. Looking forward to them building a relationship.
  24. I had been saving the finale to watch at the right moment. (I think that I really did not want to be done with the show.) Loved it - although I could have done without David's "happy ending". Thrilled that all of the townspeople were included - especially Ronnie, whose hatred of Patrick will never be old for me, and Ray. Teared up as the wedding started and did not stop until the show ended. The sign! Perfect and brilliant. Such personal development and growth from all of the Roses - and Stevie. The themes of acceptance, love, tolerance, friendship are really needed now. I hope that the show cleans up at the Emmy's. Going to start a re-watch.
