  1. Same here. It was just joyless and tedious, which is how I find most housewives shows these days. I tried Dubai, but it’s the worst, and I was out after 3 episodes. I’m not sure if RH has changed, or I’ve just grown bored of it, but I’m just over them all.
  2. They actually showed more than one scene of the new couples cutting (or attempting to) into these cakes, and then eating them, and they look like they taste as gross as they appear.
  3. All the cakes were ATROCIOUS. I know there are always questionable elements of these weddings (bad dresses, tuxes, decor, etc.) but those cakes were next level bad. NOT good advertising for whichever bakery made them.
  4. So I’m friends with Nate’s friend Megan, and she and Nate have never been anything more than friends, and the editors are doing her dirty (and will continue to do so). Megan is THE sweetest person on earth and she truly loves all of her friends, so her emotion was very authentic, and doesn’t indicate any romantic feelings toward him at all. Also, she wasn’t bombed. She’s been completely sober for four years. She moved to San Diego from Ohio and didn’t know anyone there, so her friends truly are like her family. It pains me to see all the hate Megan is getting on social media, and I know it’s just going to get worse. 😞
  5. Uh oh, looks like Jenny’s in hot water now about some of her past social media posts from 2020 about BLM.
  6. This is a great point and I almost had forgotten about how they used to interview the kids directly on the couch. I wonder why they don’t do this anymore? Now more than ever I’d LOVE to hear their perspective on things.
  7. The telling thing here, and I think what prompted Meri’s “joke” was that Kody originally didn’t hand out the printed rules to Robyn. As an afterthought he said “do you want a copy, too?” Robyn caught his slip and tried to cover, acting indignant, saying “OF COURSE!” I think Meri caught this and realized that obviously these aren’t just Kody’s rules, but Robyn’s, too. And yet again, supposedly COVID Careful Kody disgustingly licked his fingers when separating papers.
  8. It’s reference to a comment that Christine made during their awkward “family” lunch. She said she struggles with being strong but then that makes her a bitch. They’re all clearly miserable and at this point have even abandoned selling the farce that plural marriage is great. At this point I continue to watch in hopes that at least one of the three ignored wives will come to their senses and leave.
  9. Actually, a DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) is just as rigorous and prestigious as a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) and in some cases can be more challenging. Business profs are actually some of the highest paid in academia, along with medicine and law. Most on the tenure-track (which a DBA would very likely be) at a research I institution make $160K+, and that’s in Midwest cities. In comparison, a PhD in something like literature or a liberal arts field, will likely top out in the $40-50’s. The pay disparity by field in academia is crazy. The degree type can also be interesting and confusing for those not in higher ed. I’m business professor but hold a PhD, not a DBA, and that is actually a hindrance for me in the field since the DBA is more highly valued. All that being said, none of this really matters much if you’re a practitioner, which is Ray’s situation. Outside of academia, nobody really cares much about a doctorate of any type... it’s all about the MBA. According to his LinkedIn, Ray has an MBA but not any sort of doctorate. Good for him, but what Karen said isn’t true.
  10. This episode was a total snooze fest, and the commenter above nailed it about how this season is fire and ice... and this ep was freeeeeezing. That being said, Potomac is still -by far- the best of all the housewives franchises in my opinion. I’m a little surprised that Dr. Wendy is considering walking away from her job. I’m also a college professor (with four degrees!!!!) and it’s truly the best job ever. You work part-time, 8 months out of the year, and in certain departments make six figures. Plus, most profs get complete autonomy and freedom in their jobs, which is a huge plus. Then again, I don’t know the specifics of her situation, but as a working mom myself (and single mom at that), I couldn’t ask for a better work/life balance. Full time professor roles are also very competitive and hard to get.
  11. Wow, apparently Bernie McGee died today of a massive heart attack. It’s not confirmed officially yet, but Patrick Marble (Paige’s brother) confirmed it on Facebook. Word is that he was riding his bike, wasn’t feeling well, had the heart attack and EMTs couldn’t revive him. ETA: it’s now been confirmed by Paige. He was only 41... my heart breaks for his poor boys.
  12. Although Kenya was pretty awful this episode (as she typically is), I still cannot help but be annoyed by Kim. Everything about her just bugs. The only thing more annoying was hearing "the 'Mercial" 500 times. I think Phaedra is an attractive woman (and her TH makeup is usually on point), but man does she gross me out when she tries "sexy talk" and twists her face up and sticks out her tongue. Barf. Equally as gross is when she tries to flaunt the fishnet. She should stick with the faux southern belle persona of her split personality. I'm living for Porsha this season. She's so fun and carefree and brings a lightness to episodes that I find enjoyable.
  13. You know, your post made me realize that within just a year or so, Eddie and LeAnn will have been together for a longer period of time than Eddie was married to Brandi. The Great Affair, and subsequent Eddie/Brandi split, happened in 2009 ending their 8-year marriage. I think when you reach the point that the mistress and ex have been together as a couple for a period of time longer than he was married to the original wife, you kind of have to get over it and move on. I used to have sympathy for Brandi but she's worn out her welcome and this is now beyond old news. She REALLY needs to find a new shtick.
  14. Wait, what?! Seriously? If this is true then Meri really does deserve everything that's coming to her now with the ascent of Queen Robyn. If she really had her certificate framed and up on a wall (who does that?!), that clearly is a big FU to the other wives and demonstrative of her lording first wife status over the others. Between this and Meri not owning up to her actions in the catfishing mess, or really being truthful, means that I've lost any sympathy I'd developed for her recently. On another note, I usually like Christine (well, as much as anyone can like any of these fools) but I loathe that affected voice she puts on sometimes. She had it going full force when she was talking about her "dark period" (i.e. when Sobbyn joined the family).
  15. Of course the 15 minute preview of this episode showed absolutely nothing about the catfishing. The pre-episode preview also just shows the same preview footage we saw before about Meri generally and vaguely alluding to Sam/Jackie. I'm certain they'll just whitewash this, but enjoy a big ratings spike anyway.
  16. This show is just terrible and I'm out. There are many things terribly wrong with it, but my biggest issue is the casting of the guy who plays Booth. He looks like he smells bad, so I just cannot get on board with him being portrayed as some mega hottie. Ew.
  17. I noticed something in this episode that seems minor, but to me is a big indicator of Kody's narcissism. Written beside the cement slab handprint tree were the words "Kody Brown Family", and I've seen them use this wording before in one of the million other family tributes/monuments/signs they all love so much. Of course it can't simply be the "Brown Family", describing the entire clan, but they have to make it crystal clear who their true lord and ruler is.
  18. I feel scummy listening to these voicemails (of which Meri's catfisher is posting new ones regularly), but man they really do pull the covers off the fakery of this show. I just cannot help but feel for Meri. She is very much a woman in deep pain. Here's a transcript from one, allegedly from 6/30/15: "And I wasn't comparing you, but anyway, guess what, if I were to compare you, you win on all counts. You win on ALL fucking levels. Now I'm pissed. You don't think that I think that you'd beat out? You don't think that I think you're taller, better looking -- huh huh, much better looking by the way--, kinder, sweeter, you care about me, you want me, you say that you're willing to fight for me, you say all these things about love and affection and passion. For what? If I were to compare you, you win all the time. But that was not a comparison, it was "I know the pain of that". That's all that was, and that's not what I want with you. You know that. I am fighting my darnedest for you right now because I feel you slipping away and I'm fighting, but everything in me tells me all my history…" (cuts off) Catfisher says this is comparing him to Kody, and while it seems that way, she never mentions him by name.
  19. This episode was incredibly depressing and Kody somehow managed to make himself appear even more despicable than ever. What really struck me was the line in the sand exercise where Kody promised to never cross the line of walking away from the marriage. That's easy for him to say since he can freeze out Christine as punishment for "not honoring the family" (which we all know is code for being mean to Robyn and sometimes challenging King Kody) since he has three other wives to turn to for love/partnership/affection/sex/validation. Poor Christine is then left out in the cold, which is one of the many pitfalls for women living in polygamy. So "not walking away" is certainly no sacrifice for him at all, and he still benefits from having Christine around as a caregiver to their passel of children (and sometimes the other wives' kids). What I find amusing is that Kody is a-okay with Meri/Janelle having beef with one another and treating one another horribly for years. Is this not a crime of not honoring the family? I guess that's forgivable, because who cares about those wives? But heaven forbid a wife not bow at the altar of Robyn... that's inexcusable and not worthy of love. What makes me most sad is how Christine laments her newfound jealousy that has arisen in the past four or so years, and her talk of never realizing that she is a "jealous person". Of course she wasn't jealous before when the three wives were presumably treated somewhat equally and fairly. I can't imagine anyone, even the staunchest plyg, who would be just fine with Kody's obvious and egregious favoritism toward Robyn and not get jealous. At this point, I'm only watching because I hope and pray that one (or more) of these women finally walks away from King Douche. Meri's halfway out the door, and I hope Christine and Janelle are following closely behind.
  20. Brandi is now claiming on Twitter that it was all an act, that she and Jeff conspired to "fool Andy" and when she turned away it was to hide her laughing. I just can't with this basic bitch...
  21. Speaking of Lenny's Facebook page, his admins posted this pic. Given his orgasmic videos about food, and his revealed perviness, this image makes me want to vomit: http://tinypic.com/r/ilm3qx/
  22. There are many, many things to complain about with regard to this show, but my biggest quibble is the horrible sound quality. The past three episodes have had an annoying issue where the background noise (diners in a restaurant scene, for instance) are really loud compared to the actors' voices. It's like that in almost every scene and is terribly distracting. I know it's not just my television since this isn't an issue with any other show. Sound issues aside, I love to hate (and snark on) this terrible, terrible show.
