  1. That's insane. JimBob may be the dumbest person on the planet. He clearly never understood the appeal of the show (it wasn't about him, but he evidently thinks it was). And he clearly does not understand the way people perceive him and his family now. In fact, I doubt he clearly understands much of anything except maybe where babies come from. What an idiot!
  2. "You want stress? I'll show you stress. You think you know what stress is, but you have no idea. Not. A. Clue. You're about to learn, though, and you can't back out of this stress, you worthless turd." Your lawyer needs to think that that statement is way too nice. As of 2009, Lorena Bobbit was in a happy relationship with another man and the mother of a toddler. She still works in hair salons in the Washington DC area and occasionally makes appearances at fundraisers for domestic violence prevention groups, though she otherwise tries to keep out of sight.
  3. Hugs, Wanderwoman. My advice may be a bit different from everyone else's: find your bitchiest, angriest friend and ask her to screen mean lawyers for you. The meaner the better. Go with the one who's so mean you feel guilty about hiring him/her. Then turn him/her loose on your husband and don't look back.
  4. I liked Chef Ruddy, but I couldn't stop looking at his ears, which were particularly wavy. Otherwise, this was a very attractive trio, the Camp CT conceit was fun, and I enjoyed the change.
  5. I'm so happy, I really like Eddie a lot! And I was so afraid that Giada - who I can't stand!- was going to somehow push everyone else into picking her crush, Dom.
  6. Exactly. How would she know? All of the women's rooms I've ever seen have had individual stalls. So what transpired? I can't imagine that she would strike up a conversation at the sinks for the purpose of inquiring about a person's sexual identity. "Excuse me, dear, I can't help but notice that you're tall and broad-shouldered ...".
  7. Moving posts is a bitch. That's why we threaten to hide/delete OT posts instead of just moving them. But if you want to copy your content here and carry it over to repost in Small Talk, that would be fine.
  8. From the Duggar lifestyle thread ... except I don't think they wear Crocs ... I hate Crocs. They're a criminal assault on my eyes. I also own a pair because I'm a hiker, and at the end of the day I need to put something on my feet if I'm going to do anything other than sit around and moan about my feet. I've worn them into nice restaurants near national parks and in the cantina at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. They're better than flip-flops because there's debris in the woods and the desert, and that just gets up under my feet in flip-flops. Crocs also weigh nothing. I run a bandanna through their straps and attach them to my backpack. I wouldn't be caught dead in them under normal circumstances.
  9. Have the Duggars worn Crocs? I can't recall that they ever did. Therefore, I'm taking my comment about Crocs over to Small Talk.
  10. Stop it. All of you, on all sides of this discussion. How many times have we discussed the various aspects of Josh and his parents and blame? I would guess it's enough to give a mathematician a migraine. That horse is long dead, folks. Posts found in violation will be deleted without further notice. Anyone who reposts a deleted post will be found in violation and dealt with through the warning system. No exceptions.
  11. DH and I were discussing the fact that whoever comes in second, Eddie or Jay (we don't think Dom is a credible contender), would have won in most previous seasons. So I suspect that the runner-up will be eased into FN programming slowly, so as to not upstage the winner, and eventually become a fixture on the network.
  12. If we drop in a mod note saying "stop this" and you quote something from prior to the mod note, you are continuing the conversation that we asked you to stop. And in that case, we will delete your post. Do not try to skirt the rules.
  13. Only the judges get to cry. "You didn't know what to do so you pureed the ingredient to the consistency of baby food?? No!" cue crying. Etc.

    Small Talk

A friend's son's h.s. best friend went to school in London for this, and I keep watching for her. I know from what the kids did in h.s. that she has some innate skills. But maybe she was hired somewhere and doesn't have time for a competition. Or maybe she did something else. I'm now inspired to ask, since I know the kids have kept in touch.
  15. The detail that drove me nuts was with the bridge-troll couple. In their intro piece, they said that he'd proposed on the Black Bridge in the Grand Canyon. Then they ended up getting done up all urban and having an urban bridge backdrop when they came on stage. Here is a picture I took of the Black Bridge, following a 9 1/2-mile hike to reach it: It's a nitpick, but it made me all sorts of stabby.
  16. Yes, moving the Jane Austen discussion to the Prayer Closet is an excellent idea! Thanks.
  17. They'd have been better off cutting one person and having three relieved contestants at the party.
  18. I'm starting to dislike this show's little tournaments. And I'm not a big fan of the Chopped teen tournaments.
  19. I wonder what Dom is doing to drive his votes. This is making me dread the finale. If we end up with Dom....
  20. Okay, we're NOT going to argue the meaning of porn, we're NOT going to slut-shame, we are NOT having the 8,000th debate about men and women being treated differently, we are NOT going there, period, end of discussion. We are NOT. The mods have been watching this thread for a couple of days, and this discussion is finally at the tipping point. Everyone who's interested appears to have had their say and it appears there is nothing more to say. It's become very circular. No more. Noncompliant posts will be deleted henceforth.
  21. I agree with your first sentence. As for "Did Jessa not notice..." - of course she didn't! The Duggars had no clue (I need a macro for this). They thought the show was ministry, but as you said, the show was not about religion. There is not a person in that family who's figured out that there's a disconnect between what they wanted to have shown and what was shown. In fact, my question would be "Did Jessa ever get a chance to actually watch the show?" I assume she did, but she was probably surrounded by at least a dozen people chattering away all at once about what was going on in the background. She and her sibs may have watched the show, but I doubt they actually saw it.
  22. That's it! Especially the part I bolded. He comes across as if he's trying to sell something. I want to be instructed, and while one might argue (especially if "one" is in sales) that there is an education component in some sales, he really comes across as if he's trying too hard to convince me. Just do a show-and-tell, Jay, not a sales pitch.
  23. There is something about Jay's delivery that doesn't work for me. He's personable, he's enthusiastic, he clearly knows his stuff ... but I don't think I want to listen to him on a show each week.
  24. We're reorganizing the entire forum on Friday afternoon, so we're not starting any new threads right now. And if you haven't already done so, read the new pinned mod announcement at the top of the forum. If I could have made it green, more visually annoying, or anything else to distinguish it from all the other pinned stuff around here, I would have. Sadly, we can't insert a marching band into a thread title. Just hang in there. We're cool with discussing Amy in this thread.
  25. You gotta include wherever it is they buy their pregnancy tests. Walmart, Sam's Club, CVS, Tarzhay ....
