  1. Yes, they really are into recycling here. I keep wondering where Danushka is going to end up next. I believe she was also on at least one non-cooking show, like The Bachelor. I'd like to see a special with her and Ron Ben-Israel snarking at each other. (Was she ever on Sweet Genius?)
  2. Just reminding you all of what a moderator here said earlier today. You can say what you want - good, bad, indifferent - about the show and its characters. But talking about other posters, either directly or indirectly, is crossing the line here. Talk about the show, not people who view things differently from you.
  3. Rumored location for the upcoming season: Here's the URL, with more info:
  4. You can say whatever you want about Jen, whether that be good, bad, or indifferent. What you can't do is put down or snark on other posters. That includes indirectly, subtly, by implication, etc., etc., etc. It all falls under the overarching site rule: Don't be a dick.
  5. Here are my cat pictures. Paris first, then Sasha.
  6. With DH at a baseball game tonight, I went out to dinner with a good friend who told me that she used to work with Jackson's mom. Minimal gossip, but here's what I picked up. It should surprise no one that "Galaxy" is not his family name, though it is his legal name because he changed it. His mother works at Temple Beth-El/Emanu-El on New York City's upper east side. She's really nice and always asks about my friend's cat. She likes cats herself. When Jackson's show was piloted, she was really worried about whether Animal Planet would pick it up as a full series and was relieved and excited when they did. Like I said, not much, but there you have it.
  7. I can change the title of this thread if anyone comes up with a better idea.
  8. As an adult, I've had 6 cats. My current 2 would be worthy of a long talk with Jackson. They were born into a feral colony and rescued as kittens. The people feeding the ferals noticed that two females gave birth around the same time, called in Alley Cat Allies, and did this massive scoop-up of all of the cats. The adults were neutered and released, and the 10 (!) kittens from 2 litters were taken to a foster home to be cared for until they could be adopted. The kittens were all about 5-7 weeks old. Skipping a huge story, these cats were subsequently socialized to humans, some more than others. Mostly, they were around other feral kittens in this woman's home! Five were adopted out pretty quickly, leaving another 5 that continued to be mostly around each other. We adopted Paris and Sasha at about the 1 year mark. Paris was the shyest of the 10 kittens, and Sasha was one of the friendliest. They were a bonded pair, and it has been a long, crazy 3 1/2 years since we adopted them. Sasha became a pet pretty quickly, within a few weeks, but Paris is still skittish at times. I'd say he's okay with me about 80% of the time and DH about half the time. We make a tiny bit of progress every day, though. Cranberry, I love your cats!
  9. Have you imagined Jackson paying a visit to your home, if just to tell you what a great cat owner you are? This may be somewhat redundant with the Small Talk thread, but since we can post photos on PTV, I thought I'd start this thread so we can keep the pictures here.
  10. Who was the British girl with the pink hair? I think she won her season, and I thought she looked beautiful in that color, though it would have been beyond ridiculous to keep it past the filming of the show.
  11. He's okay, he's just ... someone I'd not want to get stuck talking to at a dinner party because I think he'd bore me to tears.
  12. Nat and Kat were the first female/female team to win. Then there were the African American sisters whose names I forget - they won an All Star version. After that, TPTB started casting really mediocre, ditzy female teams. It's another reason why this show is no longer one of my favorites.
  13. Throughout the show, I kept wondering how Raye is still there. And it's because of Lydia, whom I dislike for a number of reasons. Her theatrics aside, I do think Naomi is a good judge most of the time.
  14. I never did figure out how Samantha related to Miranda and Charlotte. If Carrie hadn't been there, would she even be friends with them?
  15. Exactly, Nutty1. I can think of a number of ways to handle it that would fall into the "celebration of a life" area, and I hope that's the direction they take, with the family's input.
  16. Eric Hill has died. RS wrote a thoughtful (for him) post about it, then went on to discuss how ABC might handle it. He also spoiled at least one of the Final Four, which is why I'm putting the link here instead of in a more general area. http://realitysteve.com/2014/04/23/the-bachelorette-andi-spoilers-eric-hill-passes-away/
  17. Latest update from RS is that Eric died this morning. I haven't read the article yet, just his summary sentence. So tragic. ETA: The RS article is mostly about how ABC will handle this. (RS is very upset by this, but I agree with him that the point must be raised.) I will put the link in the Spoiler section.
  18. The camaraderie was particularly enjoyable with this group. I hope they all three go on to have brilliant careers, and I'm sure they will. I FF'd through the dance. When they were ready to announce the winner, I stopped my TiVo for a moment, because I realized that I wanted it to be both Rashaad and Tyler, and that whichever one won, I'd feel bad for the other. I was delighted to see that Rashaad won, however. And the next time they recycle contestants, I want Tyler to come back and kick everyone's butt. Either that or turn it down because he's too busy working in the profession.
  19. Definitely fewer monsters. I don't know that they'll ever add time, but it might be fun to have a challenge where there was a technique they were not allowed to use - "make your creature look bigger without using a body mold" or something like that. I'd have to think it through more. Iconic children's entertainment from previous eras might be an interesting theme. Create a character to add to Captain Kangaroo, for example. You add a monster to Captain Kangaroo and you are gone!
  20. Lantern, we may be not that far apart on the continuum. I'm very disappointed in them because they were my favorites, I wanted them to win the whole thing, and now I feel like I can't like them anymore, but I wish they'd do something to redeem themselves so I could like them again.
  21. Sanitation! "I can't eat that salad, you chopped the dragonfruit on the same cutting board you used for raw chicken."
  22. Good points, SunShine Gal. If my marriageable-age niece said her budget was $5,000, I would assume she would be talking about her entire budget: gown, veil, alterations, taxes, and any other purchases or costs. Do the producers ask people to subtract $1,000 or so when they say what their budget is? This has long puzzled me, to the extent that I actually think about this show.
  23. Yes, as much as I loathe each of them separately and together, they do seem to have it together as a couple. I just hope the stupid isn't passed along to all those babies that she wants. I will say that "having it together as a couple" does not make a team immune from my hatred if they otherwise deserve it, however. I could start a list, but I won't.
