  1. Reality Steve provides more detail in the link below. However - there are also spoilers on the home-town dates in this update, including identification of the final four. Therefore, I'm putting it in spoiler tags. Since we don't violate copyrights here by copying big chunks of text, I will tell those of you who don't want to follow the link that a friend of Eric's posted on Instagram that he is in "very critical condition with severe head trauma."
  2. Thanks for sharing that, CindyBee. Apparently, the source that identified Eric was his sister, who posted about it on Facebook.
  3. I like the first photo, the second one is awful. I know lots of people dislike her, but I wanted her to win her season and was glad that she did.
  4. I'm sort of in the middle on this, not fully agreeing or disagreeing with anyone. Tiana could have been in an odd position at the moment. She could very well be too thin to be textbook healthy, and she could very easily have had weight fluctuations. As a formerly too-thin person myself, I will just repeat that ribs show, they're never attractive, and they cause people to comment. So the mere fact that she's ribby in a particular pose says little to me. I look at arms and calves. She has decent calves, and her arms don't alarm me. Her elbows look normal. Her collarbone looks normal as well. Would I give her the proverbial cookie? Yes. But I wouldn't put her on IV fluids and lecture her about eating nothing but melba toast and lettuce (and I knew a model who did that).
  5. Maybe she goes to the James Lileks Gallery of Regrettable Food for inspiration: http://www.lileks.com/institute/gallery/index.html
  6. With head trauma, which is scary. Apparently he was doing everything right in terms of safety gear, and he had lots of experience, but he misjudged the weather. I hope he recovers fully. ETA: Thanks, Rhondinella, for letting us know.
  7. That's a good question. There have been times - especially in more recent seasons - where I've questioned Tim's advice to the designers. In a few situations, a designer has gone home after following his advice or been in the top three after ignoring him. Is he losing his touch as a design expert?
  8. I don't know if they're faster, but donkeys that are moving around seem to poop a lot.
  9. We seriously considered shutting down this thread, but we will be addressing individual posters instead. For now. Yes, we do want the episode threads to be about what happened in the episode. There are a lot of people testing us on this, and you can all stop right now. If your post appears to be edited, that's because I'm editing posts. Other mods will be giving out warnings because they're not as tolerant of this nonsense as I am.
  10. This is a season in which I'd be happy if all of the teams lost. Seriously, I can't get behind any of them as of last night.
  11. Agreed, Ivy. I just posted in another forum that a friend and her husband adopted a baby from India. At birth, this child was diagnosed with an upper body problem, and the orphanage began working with her at age 2 months to strengthen her arms. Seven months later, when she finally arrived here, the pediatrician's evaluation found no problem. Early intervention really does help, and the lack of it with Josie is very disturbing. Even an all-clear would allow Michelle to say "I told you so" to the doubters, so I don't see a good reason to skip it with Josie.
  12. I think we have a forum for the UK version (I think I'm moderating it if it ever gets any action) and I agree, it's very different. But it seems like Ramsey has ramped up the tension in the most recent couple of seasons, almost as if he's trying to bring it closer to the US version. Either that, or I just caught a couple of repeats in which he was very tough with the restaurant owners. It would not surprise me if the advance crew for the US version told the restaurant owners not to clean up for a week or so. But even then, some of the baked in grease and gunk reminds me of the kitchens in the hoarder shows. Eww.
  13. Regardless of whether everyone is cut out to be a parent, how that is determined, the issues of societal pressure in choosing to have kids, etc., etc., etc., Will and Zoey are here with Bill and Jen and are therefore on the show. Also, this is an episode thread.
  14. There are also situations in which the food used to be good and the chef/owner becomes entrenched. Meanwhile, tastes change, competition appears, suppliers don't offer the same products, etc., etc. So the chef/owner isn't completely insane, just stuck in a time warp. And if the food used to be popular, they probably think the problems lie elsewhere. Still, it's naive to expect Ramsey to come in and say "wow, every you make tastes great, your decor is fantastic, and we just need to focus on marketing." Not gonna happen.
  15. Strozier spent decades in Washington DC as a well-regarded theater actor at The Arena Stage. He has a very impressive stage resume overall. He also stars in the Ocean Spray Cranberry ads - he's the father in the bog. The first time I watched this show, the voice was driving me crazy because it was so familiar, and I was delighted to see that it was him when the credits finally rolled around. And oh, yes, kitties and puppies. I've had a few of each over the years, though now I only adopt adult cats in rescue situations.
  16. Fox is saying Season 7, so that's what I'm going with. There's a merge function, but I haven't used it yet and I just deleted the other thread since it had no comments. We're all still learning here.
  17. Kromm, we were starting this thread at the same time. I'm going to delete mine and add the date to this one.
  18. I will create an episode thread in a few minutes. (I was out having a life last night!) If that ever fails to happen, you can either create one yourself or talk about the episode in another thread.
  19. Don't forget to watch the deleted scenes, too. The guy who plays the oldest son is hilarious.
  20. When I was very small and able to hide behind a hedge, I remember my parents taking me to a chivaree ( http://www.thefreedictionary.com/chivaree ) after my uncle got married. It was also a country thing, but it's probably too close to thinking about sex for the Duggars. We were right under my uncle and new aunt's bedroom window, banging pots and yelling. They were expecting it, of course. No trashed cars, though. I think if I had to choose, I'd go with the chivaree.
  21. See, that's one of the things I like about the show, it does touch on some situations that we experience in real life. I hope your friend's situation improves, Scarlett. Here's a question for everyone: A number of shows are doing sort of formalized rewatches. They pick a season, set up a schedule, watch, and discuss. Would we be interested in doing that for SaTC? I could set it up. My preference would be to do it after the May sweeps end and the TWOP forums shut down. That way we would have fewer current shows competing with our rewatch schedule, and we wouldn't have late-movers from TWOP coming in during the middle of it. Thoughts?
  22. I will say in Tiana's defense that a tall girl can look awfully ribby without being underweight. When I was young and skinny like that, I wore 1-piece swimsuits because I was embarrassed about my ribs. I really do believe that the bustier, less ribby, larger models should predominate in the swimsuit and lingerie niches. The other thing is, they take so many pictures that some are bound to be good and some are bound to be awful, no matter what the quality of the modeling is overall. This was one of the awful ones. Poor Tiana, to have that get out there!
  23. Didn't Ari also break his collarbone in a race recently? He might be restricted in his movements for a while (I don't know, I've never broken a bone). And as Chocolatine points out, if he turned down the lead gig, he's probably not inclined to do the lesser gigs, either.
  24. Here's a question coming out of Season 1 and going into Season 2: what did the viewer gain by having the mentors? I'll confess to disliking the format of this show more than I disliked any of the people involved. While people starting out in most professions can benefit from a good mentor, on the show they added a layer of drama and pointless chatter that I could have done without.
