Season 17 Ep. 6 Dying to be Enlightened Nov. 6 2023 I liked this episode very much. It was good to see Watts come to terms with himself and his private and public lives. Poor Effie. She is missing George so much. She probably should have gone with him to find his father. Julia the skeptic! At least she solved a murder and learned to be more flexible, bodywise. William seemed to like that! I was glad the guru was not the bad guy for a change. Yes, there was crookedness, but not his doing. I didn't think he was doing anything wrong by just recycling exercises and philosophies taken from other cultures. At least he was presenting it to people in a way they could understand and gain something from it.

I thought so too. He was so OTT on his last game and so subdued last night that I figured he was told to tone it down some. Anyhow, I got no ts's, just the missed DD of Sartre but it was otherwise an okay game for me. For FJ I said Ethiopia right away then noticed they wanted the capital. Luckily it is one of the few African capitals I do know so I switched to Addis Ababa.

What with having no opposable thumbs and all.

Not so great a game for me today. My only missed answers were Bonnie Prince Charlie and Pegasus. Did not get FJ. Not familiar with the lyrics of Battle Hymn of the Republic so it was just a guessing game for me. I thought it might be The Star Spangled Banner but it wasn't. I've heard about the toilet paper holder thing before from other contestants. I don't see anything gross about it.

Based on watching those same shows, I kept thinkng Riker's Island - I knew that was wrong but couldn't pull Bellevue out of the recesses of my brain.

I figure all that information was downloaded into Augie’s brain, a la Chuck - remember Chuck? And then, when he needs it, the information will be available to him. I wish they had gone into more detail about the woman ghost in the house; they didn't develop her too well and I think she would have been very interesting.

Only one ts for me, Grandma Moses. FJ was not quite an instaget but came pretty quickly. I think Aaron's OTTness is just part of his personality, not put on just for Jeopardy! His kids looked like they were used to his behaviour but were kind of embarrassed.

I didn't get any ts's or missed DDs but FJ was an instaget. It seemed so obvious I thought it must be a trick but I couldn't think of any other seas that it might be.

Season 17 Episode 5 Station House of Horrors Oct. 30 2023 Well, my fears were realized, at least as far as Julia/Gillies went. The whole scenario seemed sort of pointless and wasn't interesting to me at all. I liked the Violet Hart story better especially as it had Watts in it. And I do like her friend, Isaiah. Margaret was hilarious, knowing full well what the meat was and being okay with it because it was cheap. Loved the little rat tail poking out of Thomas's pie at the end. And the last episode was just sad. Who was this "kindly" man who gave the doll to Susannah? Why did it want to kill Murdoch? More questions than answers. And then it turned out they never even went to the carnival. Higgins probably did okay with the mechanical soothsayer. He always seems to land on his feet. I wish the writers would inject a little more humour into their Halloween episodes. I am really not a fan of horror stories.

Another okay game for me. I got the ts's and missed DD of transference, Triangle Shirtwaist Factory (probably doesn't really count since I knew only the Triangle part and couldn't remember the other part until the contestant said it), manqué, Blue Nile, and acid. For FJ my first thought was Texas, using the same reasoning as @secnarf, but I also thought of California. However, I stuck with Texas.

Ditto! I came close this week with 4/5, 0*. There's a lot of us with 4/5. I think all those cookies last week bumped up our brain cell count.

An okay game for me although I got only two ts's, short stories an spores. FJ was another instaget. I knew Franklin was ambassador to France - didn't know if he was USA's first ambassador but figured he was likely to be.

Not a great game overall but not too bad either. I got the ts's of Marquette, pitchers, and goalies. FJ was an instaget but it was so easy I doubted myself. However, there wasn't any other family that seemed to fit the bill. I also shouted out that Carnegie was Scottish, not Irish, but it was too late and didn't really matter by then. Sometimes I'm strict with myself, sometimes not so much. I figure if I get it before the correct answer is revealed then it's a get for me.

Me too. So, is Susan part of the house now? I'm surprised those boys were still alive. I hope Luke soon gets his power back. Lame ducks aren't all that fun to watch.

I thought so too! I changed tv provider recently so I am also learning how to dvr - what a great concept! Just press record on the show you want and then watch it when you want. However, I somehow recorded something I had already watched and missed what I did want to record. Don't know where I went wrong. I agree about the Halloween episode - it has James Gillies in it and I do so dislike returning villains even if they are already dead.

I got no ts's. My first thought for FJ was Marco Polo but I soon switched to Vasco da Gama. At least it was in the right time frame. I did get a mental glimmer that it might be Columbus but that faded away immediately. Too bad they didn't put the year in the clue.

I loved it too. It didn't seem to move at all though, so I thought it was a tattoo.

Season 17 Ep. 4 Bottom of the Barrel Oct. 23 2023 I don't think that former case was even mentioned in this episode unless I missed it. It must have been just a passing comment. Julia should have investigated a little more before accusing Margaret of breaking patient confidentiality. But it gave Margaret a little insight into her own behaviour with regard to Thomas's going to a bordello. I did like the little boy lookout being so amazed that a policeman would treat a black man, Isaiah Buchanan, with respect. Anyhow, that's all I've got for this episode. @Grundoon59, did you ever get your cable fixed? I really miss your comments here.

Another decent game for me. I got the ts's or missed DDs of fedora, K-ration, and (Little) brother. Instaguess FJ. I knew Dylan had won the Nobel prize in literature but I didn't know about his Oscar so I wasn't totally sure I was correct.

I remembered that too, so I was glad we only had to name the company (an instaget), not the person, because I couldn't remember if it was Berry or Barry. Overall a good game for me. I got the ts's or missed DDs of money, succeeds, old soldiers never die, Columbia river, St. Elmo, and Bringing up Baby.

Good thinking! I didn't catch the "follows" clue or I might have got it. I should pay more attention to every word in the clue and maybe I'll get more FJs.

3/5 for me, a definite improvement over last week.

It was a decent game for me overall. My ts's or missed DDs were horse, The Mummy, Prince of Wales, The Little Foxes, living stones, philodendron, and Moxie (a total guess). For FJ I knew it was either Taj or Mahal but couldn't decide which so I can't claim that as a get.

Wow! I knew they were low on their list of contestants for ToC but this is a bit much. TOC Tracker Also, I think there were more 4 time winners in Seasons 37 and 38 who never got to their respective ToCs, so you would think they would invite some of them back.
