  1. Palin is using the Lena Dunam scandal as proof of the liberal media's bias against the Duggars of course.
  2. I heard "figure there must be an agenda." I listened three times. The Duggars are guilty of plenty without adding to their persecution complex with false stories.
  3. I feel like the Duggars are reading our threads. Jim Bob said "every victim should have the right to tell their own story" which is almost word for word what I posted several days ago. They also talked about the girls being "re-victimized" which again is the exact word I used to describe my disgust with In Touch in that post. Okay, Jim Bob probably wasn't quoting me, but that was so weird.
  4. Michelle's answer to the "robocall" question was such bullshit too. She said that "it's common sense to not want men or young men in the girls bathroom" and then MK tried to point out that Michelle seemed to be suggesting that transgendered persons are pedophiles at which point Jim Bob had to step in and give the official legal definition of a pedophile (above the age of 16) so he could point out that Josh is not a pedophile. I also wanted to scream when MK concluded by quoting from a Department of Justice report that says that "80-95% of juvenile sex offenders are never arrested again if they receive proper treatment." Here was her very poor attempt to assure the viewers that Josh is no longer a threat, but man did they skim right over the molestation of the five year old very, very quickly. Although if it is true that they removed Josh from the home that same day, then I say "about damn time!" and at least they finally did the right thing.
  5. I got the same feeling. I also thought Michelle came across as very, very nervous. Jim Bob was far more prepared and get interrupting Michelle to get the story straight. And yes, they were both more passionate about how juveniles who make "mistakes" should have their records protected.
  6. Here are my notes: Begins with MK suggesting that police report was obtained illegally. Interview begins with an immediate reminder that Josh confessed on his own in each case. The girls had no memory of the first two instances as they were sleeping. The first instances occurred right after Josh turned 14. He was “curious” about girls and touched them “over their clothes” they were sleeping. They talked to the two girls immediately, but neither girl remembered those instances. They decided to handle these first two cases “in house” by punishing Josh and watching him all the time. They did the “best they could under the circumstances. “ Then there were two more instances where Josh “touched their breasts over their clothes.” It wasn’t rape; it was fondling. They then discuss how they worked to protect their daughters while still working to save Josh. When the youngest daughter was touched, Josh was removed from the home that same day. Again, Josh confessed. Here, Michelle begins to cry and says that they tried so hard to raise them to know the difference between right and wrong. They talked with other families who had similar problems and learned from their stories that things could have been much worse. Josh had “fondled” the girls while they were sleep. After Josh went to Little Rock for “Christian counseling,” they decided to take the next “important step” in his recovery, which was to go to the law. They went directly to the closest police station with no plans to report Josh to any particular officer. One that they happened to know was on duty and Josh confessed everything to that officer. They brought along a family friend as a witness. Duggars believe this officer lied when he said Josh only confessed to one incident. They say Josh confessed to all and that this officer is worried because he broke the law by not beginning an official investigation as a mandatory reporter. Jim Bob claims that Josh and all the children went to “accredited professional counseling” and Josh paid for his own counseling. They also put many, many safeguards in place to separate the boys and girls and set strict boundaries (no girls on boys laps, no boy babysitters, etc). They did not feel Josh was a threat at that point. Josh had been born a “new creature” through God. MK suggests again and again that report was obtained illegally and that juvenile records were sealed. At this point the interview turns to how the report should never have been released and that the police chief may have had a personal vendetta against Josh, that she refused to shake his hand once, that she mentioned having a few things to take care of before she retired. Michelle cries that her daughters have been re-victimized by the tabloids. Why haven’t they been honest this whole time about this “secret.” They claim that they don’t go around telling strangers all about their private lives. They claim that they received a “clean bill of health” from family services and that they were assured that the record was sealed and that the girls’ trust in law enforcement has been shattered. They claim that they did not live in fear that they would be found out because the records were sealed. Now that it has been they have prayed that people will see that if God can forgive Josh, God forgives everyone. They are talking with lawyers about suing the city over the release of the report. They don’t know if the show will continue but they asked “why should the entire family be punished for the mistakes of the one?” They repeat again that the girls didn’t even know they had been victimized really until the report was released to the backpack. They say that they are fine either way and that they will continue their ministry and continue to love each other. The family is trying to “regroup” after this “unprecedented” attack against them.
  7. Why is Michelle holding that piece of paper in her hands? What is that? A copy of the police report? Or more likely, typed out answers to pre-screened questions? Also she just refered to Josh's actions as "bad choices"! Ugh.
  8. Just watched the clip of Megyn Kelly and all I can say is she is so twisted. Even if what she said about Clinton were true, two wrongs don't make a right. But what did I expect from a "journalist" who relies on logical fallacies, half truths, and propaganda. She really pisses me off.
  9. It's taken me several days of processing to come up with a response to this news. Like everyone else, I am disgusted. Like many here, I was also molested by a family member. But unlike, the victims in this case, I was given a choice about when, where, and how to confront my abuser. What makes me sad this morning is that the victims in this case weren't given a choice 12 years ago, but they also weren't given a choice in 2015. Some sleazy tabloid decided to expose their story to the world, and I can't celebrate that. If In Touch had any sensitivity at all, someone there would have contacted the victims and asked their permission to broadcast the news of their abuse to the world. And no, I'm not talking about protecting the abuser. I am talking about protecting the victims. If In Touch had any decency at all, they would have eliminated the names of the parents from the police report to protect the victims, but nope, they wanted to add another level of vileness to the scandal by revealing that it was incestuous molestation. Having been through this personally, without the pressure of extreme fundamentalism, I can say that, for a period in my life, once the behavior stopped, I preferred pretending that everyone was one big happy family, so I can completely understand why the victims in this case did the same. I am sure that like me that bubble would have burst at some point and they would have confronted their abuser and their parents, but again, it saddens me that the victims here weren't allowed the privacy and dignity to get to that place on their own. In Touch decided that it was more important to have a "GOTCHA!" moment than to let the victims to decide when and how to confront their abuser. Maybe they never wanted to do, and I don't get to judge them for that. Maybe they would have in 5 years or 10 years, but again, I don't get to judge them for that. I'm just so sad that they weren't given a choice, again, and it feels like, at least to me, that the media is re-victimizing them. I don't know if I'm expressing myself well here or not, but hopefully, again, nobody thinks I'm talking about protecting the abuser from the media and public scrutiny. I just find it so tragic that four out of five of his victims were also exposed in the process.
  10. We haven't seen them together in awhile but today I remembered Derek and Zola's relationship. The show spit in the face of that too. Poor Zola and Bailey. Why kill off their father? Shonda Rhimes has no soul.
  11. I am still so angry. Dempsey's full interview on EW makes it clear that it wasn't his choice. http://www.ew.com/article/2015/04/24/read-patrick-dempseys-final-exit-interview-greys-anatomy It says "it turns out he really didn't have a say in the abrupt decision." I am a completionist so I'm sure I'll keep watching unfortunately, but we fans deserved better, and I will never watch another Shonda Rhimes show.
  12. I believe they only waited to announce because of Israel's impending birth and Josiah's courtship news. They didn't wait out of some desire for privacy; they waited because there was other Duggar news to report first. This way the Duggar family has dominated People magazine for three full weeks. That's some amazing free media coverage they generated by spacing out the timing of these announcements.
  13. Lately, Jill seems irritated with Derick in all their videos. He says something, she interjects a correction, and then they both look uncomfortable. In this video, he says they have started to "get back some sleep" and she says "well, not really. He is walking us up at night." He looks at her like he doesn't know what to say and then there's a pause and then Jill continues with the point that Derick was originally making. They really are super awkward together.
  14. Her mother is stunning. And yes, it would be very cool if Josiah and Marjorie speak Spanish and teach the language to their children. That way they can make fun of Jim Boob and Mechelle right in front of them.
  15. I would guess c-section too based on Derek in his scrubs with the baby in a large room and for all the other reasons folks posted. I had a c-section and the clues all match my experience. We will know for sure on May 5th. Can we start a new poll? I don't like the name, but I'm sure they love it. The baby is already wearing a onesie with his name embroidered across it so I'm guessing they chose the name long ago when they found out they were having a boy. I'm happy he's here and Jill and the baby are healthy. I was getting worried for her.
  16. I thought the wedding showed their Duggars at both their best and their worst. At their best, there was genuine love and emotion throughout the episode. At their worst, they are so incredibly cheap. It irks me that they pretend they don't have plenty of money to hire professionals and actually feed their guests. Still, I teared up several times and while Bin still seems awfully dumb, I really liked their vows. I also liked that they went off camera for their first kiss, which was clearly a full on make-out session. "Slow, sweet, and romantic" is code for "with lots of tongue," IMO.
  17. A link to a video that explains Elastic Heart: http://junkee.com/watch-sia-explain-the-meaning-of-elastic-heart-with-bananas-over-her-face/49420 I truly don't get the reactions from some who see pedophilia. I love watching Cathy lose so at least that was fun.
  18. I hope the Nia situation is all for show because Holly is often ridiculous. When she made the comment at the end that Kendall would still get solos but Nia won't even though they both failed to place, which in her mind means Kendall gets special treatment, she failed to acknowledge that Kendall usually does place in the top five while Nia often doesn't. She also hasn't acknowledged that she did go behind Abby's back when she contacted Aubrey so Nia could record a song. And her being mad at Melissa and Jill for not staying at the video shoot with her is also ridiculous. Abby isn't a horrible person nor is she a kind person; she's too egotistical, and she's too sensitive to her own feelings but completely insensitive to others. Having said that, the moms are often greedy, arrogant, and delusional so they don't get any sympathy from me. This pact baloney is a perfect example of the moms feeding off each others' delusions just like Christi and Kelli did for years. I'll also add that Chloe wasn't universally liked because I wasn't a fan. I thought she was great in the early seasons and then towards the end she bought into the victim story her mom was selling and turned into a Christi clone. I hated Christi and Kelli and I'm thrilled they're gone. I do agree, however, that it's time for Nia to go as she's too old to be on the junior team and staying with 10-12 year olds isn't going to improve her dancing. I also think Nia has peaked as a dancer, and the teachers at ALDC (not Abby) have done miraculous work with her to get her this far, but she just doesn't have the talent of Maddie, Chloe, Kalani, or Kendall.
  19. Wow that video made me more than a little nauseous. Than I started reading the comments. I have zero interest in their version of Christianity. Every word out of Ben's mouth just made me want to punch him in his self-righteous face. Ben is a moron, and he's gross. I will never understand their desire to force the rest of us to follow their religious tenets.
  20. I can't stand Christie or Kelly, so as much as I hate to say it, I'm Team Abbey in their little war, simply because those two are completely vile and I don't see Chloe as being some sad mistreated girl. Unfortunately, Christie convinced Chloe that she is a victim and then Chloe started spouting off the same 'Abbey loves Maddie and hates me and everyone else' line Christie and Kelly have been trying to sell for years. Chloe is a talented dancer but Paige and Brooke were never very good or even all that interested in dancing. . I also agree though that episode 1 this season was pure proganda to lift Abbey up, but I'm okay with that given the lies and twisted truths Christie and Kelly are spreading. In fact, wasn't Kelly's lawsuit against Abbey already thrown out of court. As for Holly, she is going to freak out again this season that Mia isn't given as much as Maddie and Kendall when the truth is Mia isn't as good as Maddie and Kendall. I'm sure there will be another epic screaming match between Holly and Abbey, and Holly will decide that Christie was right after all. For me, the problem here isn't that Abbey yells at the kids occassionally or that Abbey is unnecessarily rude often; the real problem, in my opinion, is that none of these mothers want to admit that their daughters simply aren't as good as Maddie. And if they really truly thought Abbey was abusive to their daughters, they should have long ago quit the stupid tv show and taken their girls to another studio. Therefore while they all suck as mothers and adults, Christie and Kelly suck the most, in my opinion.
  21. I seriously forgot that Asher is played by the same actor that plays the guard on OITNB. That's damn good acting. The prison guard character is sweet, naive, and weirdly sexy. Ashley is not at all attractive, arrogant, and super excitable. Matt McGorry is genius, I think.
  22. Wendy said she didn't still love Jax in season 5; now all of the sudden she does? Bullshit. I hate Wendy, always have and always will, so I hated her conversation with Bobby. Plus she only talked about enjoying her time with Abel, no mention of Thomas. Every time I see Wendy with either kid, I want to punch her and Jax and most especially Gemma for killing their mother. This show just doesn't work as well without Tara. I did love Chib's line though. And Jax is still smoking hot so there's that.
  23. Please tell me you teach gender and race classes because holy shit, your post is a master class. I applauded you. Literally. Maggie made way too many assumptions in her speech and had absolutely no interest in anything but her own opinions. That makes her the asshole in that scene so I'm guessing she will be apologizing to Richard by November sweeps. I fully expect the Callie/Owen relationship and I'm good with it. The actors seem to be good friends in real life and their characters have similar life goals. To be clear, Callie is not a lesbian; she's bisexual. So if her and Arizona call it quits, I don't care which gender she chooses for her next relationship. The show has ruined Calzona so it's time for both characters to move on. I still can't believe it took the show 5 seasons to give up on Crowen and I think the only reason that relationship ended was because Sandra Oh left the show.
  24. I like Maggie more than I've liked any other new character, suprisingly. I thought she was a good mix of professional and personal with her patients and her colleagues. I can't give up on this show until Meredith and Derek leave so I'll take the good when I can. I think Maggie is a nice addition to the show.
