  1. So Jared ("Who's this guy?"...the line of the season!) is reduced to an irrelevant potted plant by Kyra who has ZERO interest in the guy. They are by far the worst COUPLE (they are nothing close to a couple), certainly more than Yashel and his partner. I guess Kyra is quite popular with the public, the producers or both! It does make sense. Despite her personality, Kyra is clearly the most beautiful of all the women, along with Emily, followed by Christin and Katrina, then a huge gap to all the rest. Kyra is very young and immature, but due to her looks and "presence", she gets away with a lot so she never suffers the consequences of her actions which we find repulsive. I do think Cashel was a complete goofball and Kyra is scraping the bottom of the barrel if she goes for him. She can do a lot better than that!
  2. I saw that as well. Since Leo is a fan, he should appear in the show. He can have a 3-episode arc where he plays a new teacher who Cassie and Maddy (among others) fall hard for, creating havoc for them, the school and angry guys like Nate and McKay. All heck would break loose.
  3. I also think the use of music and song selection in the show is excellent! They used a remake of a great song from 1975, "I'm Not In Love" originally by the group 10cc (which featured innovative musical geniuses Godley and Creme). It fit tremendously in the episode, which is a very common occurrence for this show with its music. I thought what Kat said to Maddy about her crap was spot on and 100% true. I was shocked that Kat crumbled emotionally like she did when Maddy (who really is quite rotten as a human being) insulted her in response. Circumstances seem to be knocking Kat off of this "high horse" she recently created for herself. It will be interesting to see where she goes from here.
  4. I understand that children get prescribed ADD meds all the time that are helpful, but is it typical to happen at such a young age, 5 or 6 ? It seems like it shouldn't happen until the child is 10 or 11.
  5. How did Lexi end up so normal, well-adjusted, reliable and productive? She had the same shitty parents that Cassie had. Give her credit! Remember Rue was put on drugs (for ADD among other things) at a VERY young age...maybe six? That seems awful young to start that kind of medication. That may have been the biggest factor leading into what she would become.
  6. Really? Episode One- McKay starts a sexual encounter with Cassie in a violent manner after stupidly believing Nate's comment that she "wanted it" like that. Episode 4- McKay badmouths/disrespects/degrades Cassie in front of Nate (regarding their relationship status) and completely mishandles the fallout from that. Last episode: He rips into Cassie's Halloween costume and makes her change it, solely because he would be embarassed by her and is consumed by what everyone else thinks. Then after the frat attack, he uses Cassie as a sexual prop to prove his "manhood" to her, himself and the world. He didn't give a damn about her at that moment. I just find McKay to be selfish and disrespectful regarding Cassie. I think he sees her as a possession and a piece of meat. Remember the comments that what he enjoys more than anything is that all the other guys want her and he is the one who possesses "the trophy" that is Cassie. And she is too stupid and disrespectful of herself to take it and put up with his crap.
  7. McKay is a likeable guy as a human being. He has just been very disrespectful how he's treated Cassie multiple times. Its maddening to just see her roll over and take it instead of dumping his ass. She can do a hell of a lot better. I love Lexi. She is my favorite character and the only one in the whole show who is not screwed up. I hope nothing bad happens to her because she doesn't deserve it. Poor girl is stuck with a horrible collection of f--ed up peers. It took until this, the sixth episode, but Rue is finally experiencing sadness and consequences of her lifestyle. In the first five episodes, it seems like all the horrible things she did to herself and others just rolled off her back like teflon. Dealing with a screwed up Jules and her sister knocked her off her high horse. For the first time, I felt some sympathy for her. I had never seen Zendaya in any of her earlier work. With each new episode, I respect and value her more and more as an actress. Nate is obviously a rotten, evil bastard. When Jules was being questioned about the truth of her story by the detective, that was the moment she should have told them EVERYTHING Nate did to her and everyone else. His threat to her regarding the "child porn" is complete B.S., but she is too stupid and scared to realize that. That was her chance to come clean and she blew it. Even Nate's scumbag father is now realizing that his son is a monster that he created and is starting to fear. Fezco the "drug dealer with a heart of gold" could have been a cliche, but give the writers and the actor credit for bringing some depth to the character. I wonder if the guy has sleepless nights about the horrible things he does, since he does seem to have a conscience. At least even Rue has no desire to see her little sister follow her path, but look at Fezco using his 11 year old "brother" as a partner in crime. Does that bother him deep down or does he just bury it deep inside. I think Fezco was designed as a minor character, but if he gets popular or good feedback, I can see them giving him a bigger role in season 2.
  8. I agree with you 100%. The music and the use of music in the program is outstanding. I thought the music in all of Episode 4 was especially excellent! In the most recent episode, I loved the use of the song "Smalltown Boy" by the group Bronski Beat, a new wave song from the '80's.
  9. Sam Elliott was in Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper who was in Valentine's Day with Julia Roberts who was in Flatliners with Kevin Bacon Next Up: Florence Pugh
  10. I think there are individual schools and/or communities spread around the country where the sex and drug use are this extreme. Just as there are schools and communities where the sex and drug use among the kids is far less than the national average. I saw recently that nationally about 63% of high school juniors are currently virgins today, compared to only 43% in the Nineties. Teen pregnancies and teen births have dropped DRAMATICALLY in the last 20 years...which is excellent news in a world filled with rotten news all the time. Thanks to the spread of electronics, I think porn use is dramatically high among teens, even among those that aren't sexually active. Also years ago porn was expensive for a teen and now it is free everywhere on line. I am concerned about vaping, which is rising dramatically among teens, and it possibly leading to more cigarette and drug use very soon.
  11. Of all the males in the show, McKay is the only one who is comparatively likeable...the rest are complete jerks. Yet, there is something off about McKay. He comes across like he may be a repressed homosexual.
  12. You are definitely right. I re-watched the first episode and they referred to that and passed around a video of Cassie going at it with multiple guys.
  13. Every reference to time puts the show and the story at today...late 2018 or early 2019. Rue was born three days after 9/11 in 2001 and is now 17, which makes it between September 2018 and September 2019 (when she turns 18). Other references, including Rue's narration in the first episode (about nude pics being the currency of love) says it's 2019. The crazy use of smartphones, texts, pictures, video and other electronics definitely puts the story in 2019. Even four/five years ago, electronics elements were not as advanced and used in the way they are now. There is no way the show is set in anytime earlier than September of 2018. I still have no idea what state the show is set in. I remember references to Panama City and a certain drug being popular in Tampa, so maybe Florida is the setting, which makes sense. I know that the show is filmed in Southern California, but I don't think it is set there. Apparently, the old family picture of Cal and Nate Jacobs shows three little boys. I never noticed this before. Nate has one brother, right? What happened to the third little boy?
  14. The story is at a point ending Season 3 where they can really have a much bigger gap when Season 4 picks up. I think it should go 3-4 years to 1988-89. It would be intriguing for the story to jump to either the last part of the kids' Senior year in HS, or the summer after their HS graduation. That would also catch the biological age of the actors to the story. Then have a short time frame between 4 and 5 and end it about 1990 or '91. I don't think the show would go beyond five seasons. Much can happen in 3-4 years. They can do a lot with the story and restart it at a future point that would be interesting. If Hopper is being jailed than it would make sense that his status wouldn't change for 3-4 years. You can have the Byers family either move to their new location and become established, or move and decide to come back during that "hiatus". Jonathan, Steve and Nancy would all be young adults in their early 20's as well. I think the girl that plays Eleven is the best of the child actors...by far. Next I would put the Dustin and Max actors followed by a gap to all the rest.
  15. What did Cassie do? In the scene where McKay and Cassie talk for the last time, he mentions that Nate will talk sh-- about something Cassie did in the past, and it will come out for everyone to know. Cassie looks sad and guilty, but they don't say what it was. My first thought is that she had an abortion, but I imagine that abortions are so common with their crowd of peers that it wouldn't be a big deal if that came out. Just wondering what she did. Her Mom seems like someone who had a few abortions in her time. I can't tell if Nate is infatuated/wants to hook up with Jules, or borderline wants to kill her. He is that much of a nut. He called her "broken"? He is just as broken (as are many in this show) if not more. When Jules said that Nate was a "f*****" just like his Daddy, I thought he would turn extremely violent against her, but instead said "Have a nice evening", and walked away. He is the biggest psycho in the whole show.
  16. Miles Teller was in War Dogs with Kevin Pollack who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon Next Up: Naomi Scott
  17. I agree with you!! I can't stand Mari's "boyfriend". He is a complete fraud and phony. He uses his "activism" to chase tail...and to actually film Mari during an encounter? What a jerk-off. I am not a big fan of Johnny, but it was fun to see him kick that guy's ass, and to see him whine like a baby to Mari in the aftermath. I loved season two of Vida a lot. Like the show Ozark, it improved upon a very strong first season with a second one that was even stronger. Also pleased that Vida was picked up for a third season. I imagine it will come back late spring or summer of next year. Looking forward to it.
  18. The kids in this show are rotten human beings and the space-cadet adults are absolutely clueless...or rotten themselves. That principal was an incompetent fool and milquetoast who obviously gets walked all over by the students. I thought the 13 Reasons Why kids were disgusting, but they look like choirboys compared to this group. Lexi is like the one normal kid with good morals who is stuck with a collection of peers/classmates who live in the sewer. She should transfer schools. I'm trying to figure out 1) where it is filmed and 2) where is the setting of the show (city/state). It looks like it is filmed in California, with the snow capped mountains in the background on the outdoor scenes. Possibly the L.A. area, Inland Empire or maybe even the Central Valley (Fresno or Merced) with the Sierras in the background. I have no clue where the story is set, in regards to city or state.
  19. Everything that happened in the first four episodes could have been condensed into two episodes, while everything in the last two episodes should have been spread out to three or four episodes. It was weird that the story moved so slowly early, then the end was too rushed and should have been hashed out more. Overall, it was an interesting show and I liked both Chris Pine and India Eisley.
  20. I really like the show. One complaint...it is taking WAY too long for Fauna and the Chris Pine character to meet. That seems to be the point when things will really take off in the story, but they still haven't met after TWO full episodes? I am thinking that should have happened at the end of episode one, or very early in episode 2.
  21. Smitty is the biggest idiot/moron in the history of this show. PLEASE relocate the show to L.A. for the next season!!!!!!!!
  22. Maybe the show will go the Bobby Ewing route. This whole season was Ray's dream, from when he hit the water jumping into the East River when he thought he saw Abby. That would explain some of the convoluted events we have seen this season...the chaos. Then, return to Los Angeles for Season 7 and get back to basics. Maybe bring back some characters from earlier seasons as Ray tries to rebuild his life. If not L.A., maybe Boston. A return to New York for Season 7 would not be good.
  23. Bunchy first showed his dark, violent side in Season 3 at an incident at the dump apartment Mickey lived at with the prostitutes. Then even more so at the incident at the Primm, Nevada casino owner's "ranch". His dark side is much more extreme than anything Terry has ever done. Bunchy's warm, human side was really shown during his courtship of Teresa, which I think was Season 3 as well (in my opinion, Season 3 was the best season of this series, by far). I still remember that scene when they were walking at night in Griffith Park..."I didn't know Mexicans hiked." was a hilarious line. I also love Teresa's line after the baby was born and she was really wanting it. "Mothers fuck Brandon, that's how they become mothers." Wouldn't someone as wealthy, powerful, divisive and important as Sam Winslow have 24-hour security, especially at home?? Calling Teresa was the smartest thing Bridget has ever done in the series.
  24. I am trying to re-watch the season on demand, but my Spectrum on demand for this show has never included episode 9 from The Purge. It wasn't even added right after it showed and it hasn't been added since. Episodes 1-8 and 10 are there, but no Episode 9. Has anyone else experienced this? Very strange. This is the kind of show where I do enjoy watching the episodes multiple times. There are some little things that I pick up when seeing the episodes multiple times.
  25. What a collection of miserable people the adult characters on this show are! I feel sorry for the poor children who are stuck with these adults as parents/mentors. The men are arrogant assholes and the women are hysterical, bitter and mentally unstable. Both teachers take out their personal frustrations by abusing/ridiculing their poor students. It reminds me of the school scene from Pink Floyd The Wall. These parents have such large families, but they seem very resentful towards their children and certainly aren't very loving towards them. What a rotten environment for these kids to grow, learn and have a childhood. I am very impressed with the two young girls who are amazing actresses. I can't remember ever seeing children that young so far advanced in their acting ability. They will be missed, as older actresses will play the characters starting with the third episode, I think. I just happened to stumble upon this show while channel surfing and I am glad I found it. Its a fascinating show.
