S13.E02: Houston, We Have a Marriage
ChiCricket replied to humbleopinion's topic in Married At First Sight
And you just never know WHY someone dislikes dogs, or any pet really. Or maybe not dislikes them...just doesn't want them in their house. My sister's best friend came from a pet hoarder family growing up. Pet poop and pee everywhere, and she had no say about any of it when she was a child. She was determined she'd never own a pet when she left her parent's house, and she never has. Also, the parents spent way too much money on feeding the hoard of pets, and their kids were very poorly dressed because of it. So not only does she not have pets, she buys herself expensive clothes now too. (And that's her right.) Not saying that's what happened to Myrla, but it's one possibility. You just never know people's backstories, or how it affected them. -
Nothing much really...just that GotHard went there...and it just made me look it up. π

Right away, I had the thought that the name Ryan has been used for both boys and girls. I've never heard of a female Brett, though. -
Feel free..anyone is welcome to use it for whatever. π

I just watched this. What a creepπ‘ And I thought the name of college he went to rang a bell...it's only about 20 minutes from my house. I found this: Wheaton College is an evangelical liberal arts college and graduate school in Wheaton, Illinois. It was founded by evangelical abolitionists in 1860. Wheaton College was a stop on the Underground Railroad and graduated one of Illinois' first black college graduates.π€€

This made me curious, so I looked up Josh Duggar on various ancestry sites, and didn't find many at all spelled Duggar (with Josh or Joshua as the first name.) I also found this, which *I* found interesting (I love ancestry stuff)π

Oh! forgot to mention that since Paloma is gone, my yard now has bunnies and squirrels hopping and running around like crazy. I like seeing them, but yesterday we saw a huge hawk snatch something up and fly away with it.π€€ That's a first in the 30 years we've lived here. (I know hawks need to eat too..I just don't want to see it happen.)

We are getting used to her being gone, but my sister wants to stop by on her way driving back home to Colorado, and she'll be bringing her adorable 1 yo Chihuahua with her. Not sure we're ready for that. Btw, she was adamantly anti-vax, so at first I said no to the visit. But then she said "don't worry, we're covered" and I felt relieved until I told my daughters about this convo. One of them said "wait! does she mean she's covered by the vaccine, or "she thinks she's covered by the blood of Jesus?" (She's also kinda uber-religious like my sister) That thought never entered my mind , but my daughter (who is vaxed) said she's heard this from many people in her church, when she's tried to persuade them to get the vaccine too. So then I had to ask my sister if she meant THAT (and we had previously agreed to not ever talk religion or politics because we don't agree on either one, so it was a very uncomfortable discussion.) But my sister said she actually *did* get the Pfizer vax a while ago (but never mentioned it to me. I've been worried to death about her this whole time, thinking she was holding steadfast on NOT getting it.)π― I then told this same daughter this info, and added, "but I don't know whether to trust her on this." My daughter seems shocked that I would think my sister would lie (being so religious and all).... Ps thank you for asking, @Scarlett45 π

Just found this: Helmets are required for athletes under the age of 18 in street competition. If athletes under the age of 18 choose not to wear a helmet, they will be disqualified. I'm an old, so I wish everyone had to wear them,if only to encourage kids watching to wear one. (watching the women's skateboarding rn.) I need to see if there's a forum for the olympics, obviously.π Found it! Here if there is anyone else interested: https://forums.primetimer.com/forum/4867-2021-olympic-games/ π

Meeeee! π I've watched them since I was a small child (so about 65 yearsπ€€) and it's must see tv for me. They also commemorated this: (Reuters) - Tokyo 2020 President Seiko Hashimoto highlighted the power of sport on Thursday as she expressed condolences on the anniversary of a deadly earthquake and tsunami, saying it provided hope for survivors and in facing the coronavirus. (The 10th anniversary of this just passed in March.) On March 11, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck off northeast Japan, triggering a tsunami that devastated the region and caused a meltdown at a nuclear plant in Fukushima. About 20,000 people were killed. PS when they commemorated the covid victims, I teared up, thinking of my nephew who died early in the pandemic of it. (I'm convinced that happening so early made our entire family go get vaccinated as soon as we could.) I'm a π for most of it too. I'm especially enjoying watching them have surfing and skateboarding for the first time ever (but why oh WHY aren't the skateboarders wearing helmets?!π€€) I love swimming, diving, track and field, softball (mainly because my granddaughter started playing that this year.) I like it all, except maybe fencing and weightlifting...these two just leave me cold.π PS I'm going to continue to share when I feel like it, because my mother taught me that "what other people think of you is none of your business." The fact is I feel comfortable sharing on here because I know anyone can block me if they so choose, and I don't have any real-life friends except my family, which I know they're not my *friends* ... but still are to me. And sometimes I want to vent or brag without them knowing I'm doing it. Β―\_(γ)_/ I am capable of making real life friends (btdt) but tbh they're too much work to maintain. (If that makes me a rotten person...oh well...I'm just being honest....I'm lazy that way, I guess.) Also, yes, I've been bamboozled a couple of times by people on here (and felt a fool), so I also totally get being very skepical. (sorry for the book)π€£

Good news Sunday...I have lots of tomatoes growing. I also am finally getting seedless green grapes growing from vines I planted years ago. They said when I bought the vines (online) that it would take about 3 years to produce grapes...and that's what happened. I never thought it would really work.π Now, let's see if I get some of both before the squirrels, raccoons, and opossums get them first.ππ

Ouch! Suddenly my $26 loss doesn't seem so bad. I'm still calling my bank on Monday to see if anything can be done. I'm sure that these creeps get away with this a lot, because we who were scammed are: 1.embarrassed about being a shmuck 2. saying to ourselves "it was "just" $26"......π‘ (I wonder just how much $$ they made on this scam!)

Has anyone here ever bought something from a Facebook ad and got scammed? I think I was, and I guess I just have to "eat" the money I paid. I'm such an idiot. Just like the review I attached, I just got this teensy puzzle in the mail today instead of the folding puzzle table I paid $19.99 (+ $6 shipping) for. I was getting the table as a present for my husband, to cheer him up. I had checked this scam page before I ordered..and there were NO complaints. (https://www.scampulse.com/worldwide-intl-reviews ) Now there are over 300 complaints...and many got a tiny puzzle instead of the table they ordered too! π‘ P H O O E Y

Thank you everyone. My husband is taking it very badly. Paloma was his TV watching buddy. Whenever he'd sit to watch TV, she'd jump right up into his lap every time. π My granddaughter Sofi was her very special person if my husband wasn't around. Sofi was only five yo when I first got Paloma..she's 15 nowπ I feel like I have to keep it together for them. But it's so,so hard to do. I'm so glad I have all of you to "talk" to about it. Thank you for being here for me.π’ π

Well, my 4th July was very good...until it turned just horrible. My daughter's German Shepherd Nala bit my (chiuahua dog) Paloma so badly, that the emergency vet had to put her (Paloma) down. She couldn't be saved.π OMgosh it still doesnt seem realπ’ I can't stop thinking and crying over how horrible her wounds lookedπ And some of my grands saw it happenπππ My daughter's family all were staying at my house (with Nala) for a couple of week's visit. Nala and Paloma always got along great every time they visited.no problem at all. But Sunday changed all of that. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my little dog bite her big dog first..and hard. We don't know how it started though, we all missed that. So perhaps Nala was really just defending herself. (That thought does not help me though, tbh) I feel SO f'ing GUILTY for not protecting my little dog better.ππ My daughter and I both saw it happening and couldn't stop it in timeπ I don't think I'll ever have another pet...it hurts SO much. I'm sorry I'm such a downer, but I don't think it's good to only let people see the sunshine and roses in your life...know what I mean? Besides, I need to talk to people who aren't my kids or grandkids...and that leaves you guys.π I just keep thinking of her little brown silky ears and waggly tail...and now she's completely goneππππππππππ

And my tomato plants and flowers are so happy! π

Quoting myself to show you the picture I took today...because after today 7 of them won't be in Illinois anymore.π (3 are moving back to New Mexico while their live-on boat is repaired. The other 4 are going to live in Florida, because my Marine son got transferred there from Germany) I'm going to miss them so much..but no lie...I am severely worn out!π Ps 23 yo (step) grandson not pictured..he had to work.

I would just like to say I've seen it 3 times (always in a theater, with different grandkids and their parents) and so far, every single person has really liked it! (I'm going to a theatre again tomorrow with the last of my grands who haven't seen it. (And yes, we have discussed the colorism issue, and agree on some of it.) But my point was that we all still really liked it (and want to support more diverse movies.) Ps I'm white, but my husband is a (dark) Puerto Rican, and I have a kid married to a Colombian-American and kids that are married to Mexican Americans.
